Thomas
Is anyone aware if the HIR1 bulb can be used in place of the HIR2 halogen bulb? Any concerns with the higher power draw, 65 Watt versus 55 Watt. I have halogen capsule, with projector lens. Thanks, Thomas
wlepse
I tried one and while it fit OK I didn't notice any extra output so I switched back to stock. I should say that the one I put in was originally modified to fit in a 9005 assembly.

HIR2 is rated at 1900 lumens, and the HIR1 is 2350 lumens. I am really just looking for alternates to HID, which are about 3000 lumens anyway. wlepse
Yeah that is why I originally tried them. While I didn't notice overall brighter light it did seem to have hot spots which I found annoying too. Could be because the tabs were modified and the bulb wasn't in exactly the right place but I didn't see any benefit to playing with it to find out. Feirstein
The high beam version has significantly higher output! I can't explain why you can't see the difference.
