  1. This is a long standing problem. I had mine replaced under warranty, but they have discolored again. I am waiting for the upgrade kit from drive bright with LED bulbs to see if they will take enough less current to solve the problem.
  2. This weekend I installed a Drive Bright HID kit in a 2008 Edge Limited. The installation was very easy. It took about 30 minutes and on a limited I did not have to use the harness to connect to the battery. I did have to drill two holes to mount the ballasts, but it was easy and there is plenty of room. They fire right up and work with the auto feature. I bought the 5000K as I wanted bright white. They are brighter than the silverstar ultra lights I replaced. When I hit the remote to open the door, they flash a bit before settling in and they become fully bright quickly after the engine starts. Dan was easy to work with and I recommend his products. They can be found at www.drivebright.com
  3. I am having the same issue in a 2008 Edge. It is very inconsistent. It will work well for days, and then while driving I hear the warning beep and get the message. I can clear it with the info button and after a while it will beep and be back on. Have you figured yours out yet?
  4. Mine did the same as above. It was working find and just seemed to stop moving the last 6-8 inches. I cleaned and lubed it and tried the process above. It worked part way and then the roof just stopped moving and locked up. It stayed that way over night and then would close the next morning. I took it to a dealer and they tried to get it to work with no success. It goes in next week to "drop the headliner" and see why it seems so bound up.
  5. Search on this site for this. I had the exact same issue with my 08 limited. There is a tsb on this that makes for an easy fix.
  6. I finally got to this after thinking about it for a couple of months. I ordered the plug to get the clips. I grounded at the bolt above the BAMR switch. Taking the sun visor down was easy and made hiding the wire very easy. Pull out the side panel beside the light switch. That makes pushing out the light switch very easy. I then connected to the violet/purple wire. Hiding the wire down the side is very easy. If you have an Edge with BAMR and the lights are not working this is very easy.

  8. I bought a covercraft one from autoanything for my 2008 Edge Limited I got this summer. I only want it for when the snow/sand/salt flies here. It does not look bad at all. It is thicker than the LeBra units. It was difficult to get on the first time so be sure you have it warmed up when you work on it. I don't really care if it looks great as it is only on when the weather is awful. I saw an Edge with that stick on clear stuff and I didn't like it up close. The Covercraft will do what it is supposed to do.
  9. I love the concept of a Vista Roof. That was a deal breaker for me. I would not have bought an Edge without one. However, the car is at the dealer for the 5th day today. I have had it for 6 weeks. Ford is working on it and it will be covered under warranty. They cannot get the BAMR to work. They can get it to work around the switch and it does everything fine. They have had two switches and two motors in the vehicle and it will not work. They seem to have power at all points in the system. It should work, it just doesn't. I am going to be having a meeting with a Ford rep when this is over. I love this car. I love the sync. I love the BAMR. I just want it to work.
  10. My roof stuck completely open. Opened it on the way home and left it open in the garage. The next morning at work, nothing. I took it to the dealer and they got it closed. They said the switch was bad. Replacing the switch has not fixed it and now they are ordering a motor. They believe that the switch has somehow messed up the motor. All I know is it does not work, the shades are open, and it gets hot in there. I also know I have a pretty expensive glass roof right now. Warranty will repair, but I am concerned.
  11. Regardless of what some on here say, this is a great idea and if you follow these directions, very easy. Popping the new ones on is a bit tricky because I was a little nervous about smacking the mirror head. I held a towel over the glass and smacked the back of the mirror. I also tugged slightly on the corners to make sure they were seated. Don't forget to move the metal clips from the old glass to new. I got to do the passenger side twice because I didn't think. This forum is really very helpful. Now on to the next improvement.
  12. That is what I thought I would do. I was just interested in finding out what others had done. I would like some good lighting back there to see where the trailer is going.
  13. The dealer actually did replace mine under warranty.
  14. Has anyone tried to wire up back up lights for a trailer? I have a 7 pin round on my trailer and I really want to use back up lights on it. The wires to the BU lights in the lights just don't look stout enough to tie anything onto. I have a couple of ideas to try, but if someone has already invented the wheel, I will use theirs happily.
  15. I did not get a readout from the dealer, but I can get my hands on one for the local shop. The TSB I found right here on this forum. The car seems to be better than it was. Tire pressure seems to be very, very sensitive on this vehicle. I still plan to rotate the rear tires side to side. I am interested to see if the poor wear from the first alignment is causing some of the issue.
  16. They did a full 4 wheel alignment at the dealer and then I actually had a local shop do it again. The local shop is very good. Then I found the TSB for the pull and had the dealer do that as well. It is better but still drifts off to the right if I release pressure on the steering wheel. I think they just rotated front to rear on the tires. I believe I am going to flip the rear ones side to side.
  17. I have an iphone with 4.0.1 software. I just upgraded this weekend with 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. Previous owner didn't do much. I also took it to the dealer for the new 2.1 software. My phone and music are working as well as I can expect. Some things won't work like texting, but playing music throught bluetooth or the USB works perfectly well. My phone works fine. I have not messed with voice recognition yet because I just put it all together today and the heat index is over 110 here today. I may be just lucky but I, so far, have not had the issues I have read about. :yup:
  18. I just last week purchased a 2008 AWD Limited with 25,000 miles. I told the salesman the tires were out of balance on the test ride. The steering wheel was bouncing typical of a front tire out of balance. I wanted that fixed before purchase. The saleman promised me he had taken care of it. Not true. It also pulled to the right badly and quickly if I released pressure on the steering wheel. I took my front wheels off to install splash guards and the left front was scuffing badly on the outside. The right front was doing the same but not as badly. I returned to the dealer who balanced, rotated, and aligned. It still pulled to the right. I took it to a local alignment shop who has been doing it for a very long time and is known to be very good. He has done great work for me for many years. He said it was out but not terribly. That was troublesome since the dealer aligned it yesterday. I did not trust the dealer to mess with it again. It still pulls to the right if I am not coasting and release pressure on the wheel. It is better but not gone. Has anyone else dealt with something like this on an Edge? Is it something to do with the FWD when the AWD is not engaged? It does not seem to be as bad if I am coasting as when I have my foot on the accelerator. The scuffed tires are now on the back and on the opposite side. I am coming from a RWD Envoy so FWD may just be different. Great vehicle, but this has me concerned.
  19. I just bought a 2008 Edge LTD with 25,000 miles on it. Loaded car and I really like it. My first Ford since 1975. No more Government Motors for me. The car is in really good condition and when I get the leftover cigarette smoke out of it I think it will be a terrific vehicle. I noticed the chrome arouind the fog lights seems to be pitting. Is this a common issue? Since the car is under warranty, would Ford cover a replacement. I know nothing about dealing with Ford and warranty work.
  20. I have not purchased a new Ford since 1975. I am really considering a 2010 Edge. I can find SEL models with the 201 package with Vista Roof for about $2500 less than Limited models with, seemingly, the same options. Does anyone know what really is the major difference in the two models?
