  1. Like akirby said earlier, the list is just phones that Ford has actually tested with SYNC. I have a Motorola Droid 3 from Verizon (though I use it on Rogers in Canada) and it does SMS Messaging through SYNC but it's not on the list.
  2. I get the same when I check SyncMyRide and I'm on v2.4. Doesn't even say the new update is dealer install only.
  3. Maybe you didn't have the alerts enabled? You can set alerts for all your artists and songs, but then you have to set Enable All Alerts to ON.
  4. I too love driving my Edge now that winter is here. I have a SEL with AWD and mounted Toyo G-02's back in early November. Not real happy with the tires, but that's another story. There is however, something I don't like with the AWD/Traction Control systems. In Northern Alberta, we get a lot of built up snow on the roads that lasts until spring (especially on less travelled residential streets). When you hit one of these patches with a bit of speed, it is easy to four-wheel drift, power-slide, or just plow through a corner or bend. When the Edge starts to drift, my driving style is to keep my foot on the gas and drive through the drift. This doesn't always work on the Edge as it cuts power to ALL the wheels because it can't determine which one has traction. A friend suggested switching Traction Control off, but I haven't noticed a difference yet. Plus, it resets to ON everytime the vehicle is restarted. I would really like the system to recognize that I am not lifting off the gas and, after reading the steering angle, send power to the outside wheels. Anyone else notice this? Any suggestions? (please don't tell me to just slowdown. Winter driving is FUN!!!)
  5. I had my vehicle in this morning for the update. I had called on Monday to confirm that the update was available for them to install and the service coordinator said it shouldn't be a problem to find it. So today, after they have had my car for 4 hours, they say they can't install it because they don't have the "special" cable! I said I thought it was just a USB cable and they said "Oh no, it's a "special" cable". Ford is shipping it out to them and I have to wait. Needless to say, I am not happy. If it turns out to be a regular USB cable in "special" Ford packaging, I will be even less so.
  6. I am also in Edmonton and would love to meet up with you guys to share experiences. Does this Sat morning (~11AM) work?
  7. I actually prefer that that the plugs are always hot. Why should I have to turn the vehicle on just to charge my cellphone?
  8. Found a few links on the Ford F-150 forum about the lockpicks. Ford uses the GPS to determine if the vehicle is in motion and disables input functions. The lockpick bypasses the GPS, so the vehicle doesn't know it's in motion. However, with the GPS bypassed, you have no nav! You can enter your destination, but you need to disable the lockpick for the nav to resume. In my mind, not the best solution. F-150 Forum link
  9. Have you seen the Ford documentation on the Media website? It's not a review, but might be helpful.
  10. It's actually standard on the Limited. So for the $7000 extra you get SYNC plus 10-way power driver seat, leather interior, 12 speaker Sony audio, etc.
  11. Hi choff and martcouz, I saw a post a couple weeks ago about a product from Coastal Electronics Tech that DOES bypass the safety measures that limit what functions are available while driving (see link below). Not having any luck trying to find the original post though. Ford Sync Lockpick I sent Coastal Electronics Tech an e-mail to see if their product worked with the new myFord Touch and nav systems on the 2011 Edge, but didn't get a definitive answer. They said that they have 2 versions of their product - 1 for hard drive based Sync and nav and 1 for non-hard drive based systems. I haven't been able to confirm that the 2011 Edge has a hard drive based system, because all the documentation I have seen says that nav is SD card based. Coastal Electronics Tech said that that is only the nav portion of the system and Sync is probably still hard drive based as that seems to be the direction Ford is going with newer vehicles. I wish I could find the original post to ask the poster if they had any experience with this bypass. Maybe someone with a Edge model can offer their experience as well.
  12. I think an apology is more in order than just saying "Nevermind".
