  1. I too have a very stable system and hope that the update is better. Recently had to remove the battery cable to force a reboot to get the voice back on the navigation. But other than that, I rarely have an issue. Maybe because we both have the bordeaux red reserve color? Just kidding. But I'm disappointed that they did not continue that color. I like it a lot. The update looks promising, I've watched the youtube videos. I'm almost afraid to do the update....but I want the new features. Perhaps I'll wait to see the forum member's responses to the update.
  2. Wilson, I agree that just doesn't add up. It is strange that many, many people have had problems while I have not. Where were the MFT hardware and software systems manufactured? All in the same location? Overseas? Perhaps their is a quality control issue? Bring the manufacturing back to Michigan:) and there won't be any problems. (Sorry, couldn't resist a plug for my home state) Akirby, (at least I think that is your screen name) you should know where these systems are manufactured/assembled. Or could find out? Perhaps it is a supply issue. Maybe my system was one of the very first manufactured. I did purchase my Edge in October of 2010.
  3. I don't know how it's possible, but it is. When I have had minor problems with it, I've either shut the car off or let the system reboot on its own. I didn't try to force anything. We're talking Microsoft here after all. While I use all Microsoft products (windows, office, etc.) I'm not exactly impressed with their reliability. Vista anyone? Maybe because I have one of the earliest versions and haven't messed with it is the reason my system is ok. I don't know. I just know that I'm a real person who likes her edge and likes the MFT. It doesn't work perfectly, but I don't know of too many tech things that do. You can see from my prior posts that I haven't been here for a while, mostly due to the fact that I've been happy with the performance (well the gas mileage could be better) of my Edge. I was going to take my Edge in to the dealer for a MFT update but they suggested that I wait until after the first of the year when the new version is released. Personally, the fact that my car's control interface can be changed/updated is pretty cool. I like taking advantage of new technology. I'm curious, now that the NTSB has issued advice that NO cellphones (except for built in systems?) be used while driving will the MFT system be embraced or outlawed by lawmakers? As for my navigation, it appears to be quite accurate. Tells me to turn exactly at the intersection. I don't notice it to be off at all. I have had two occasions where the GPS screwed up. But considering that I use it on average three days a week to take me different places (in Michigan and Ohio) I'm quite satisfied. I'd like to see an update to the navigation...will we receive new SD cards for it? My return trips always seem to take me the way I originally went. I do have the breadcrumbs turned on.
  4. I'm one of those who really have had no problems to speak of . Well until recently. The voice directions stopped working on the navigation so I disconnected then reconnected the battery and everything works ok now. I didn't even have to pair my phone again. I have 24k miles on my edge that I bought 14 months ago. I use the MFT extensively because I drive so much. I have my blackberry paired, use the phone features, have an ipod connected via usb, and the navigation system. I use the navigation system almost every day for work because I go to many different locations. I send locations to my car from google maps and then call "services" and it downloads the location and sets it as my destination. I've searched for places to eat, car washes, starbucks and more. I've had perhaps two instances of the system rebooting all on its own. I have not visited my dealer at all since I bought it. Only thing I've done to it is change the oil and rotate the tires. That being said, I am looking forward to the update to add additional functionality. I am glad that Ford is fixing the problem for the many of you who have had problems. I'm just curious of all the MFT cars sold so far, what percentage are having problems? It's obviously many, but 50%? 75%? 95%? I consider myself lucky to have not had any major issues and am a very satisfied Edge owner. I love my car. I'm running sync version 1.8. Here is my info from the sync website: 2011 Ford Edge VIN: 2FMD K4J C4BB A18669 Add Sync VersionGen2 - V1.8 Update available Confirmed installations BT4T-14D545-BA BT4T-14D546-AD SYNC compatible software SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F603-AD Waiting to download 0 items.
  5. I'm like carrie above. Have had my edge since early last october and love it. I currently have 15600 miles on it. (I drive a lot for work) I have not updated anything in it, matter of fact, haven't done anything, not even an oil change yet. System says I still have 20% oil life left. I use the NAV all the time to find client locations, I use google maps to send it to my car, hop in, connect to services and viola, my destination is downloaded. I use the system to find places to eat, car washes, even shopping areas. The touch system will occassionally reboot itself, but no worse than the average computer. The voice activated system isn't perfect. I admit I once tried to tell it to f*** off, it responded it did not understand:) Once in a while when in reverse, the backup camera doesn't come on. Again, not a really big deal to me, unless it begins to happen all the time. I love the way the car drives, the way it looks, how comfortable it is. Only minor complaint is that the headrests are not good if I have a ponytail in my hair, because then my ponytail rubs too much on the headrest. I would buy again. The software can be fixed and I'm sure that it will be.
  6. Love my 2011 sel awd with mft, nav, leather. Bought it in early October. Have 12000 miles on it. So far my favorite car I've ever owned. Would buy again in a heartbeat.
  7. So are you suggesting I forego the extended warranty? Most of my mileage will be highway. I'm just worried that if the touch system fails and needs repairs that I could spend a lot of money fixing it. So far, I've been one of the lucky ones with no problems (other than one or two reboots) with the myford touch system.
  8. When is the best time to buy an extended warranty? My 2011 edge that I bought last October already has 10k miles on it, I expect to put 25k miles a year on it. I would like to have a warranty cover me to 125k miles. I still have 2 and a half years on the factory warranty. Do I wait until I'm almost out of that warranty to purchase another one? Seems like I would not want to pay for one now... I've never bought an extended warranty before, but with all the technology and miles for work that I expect to put on it, an extended warranty is probably my best bet. Not to mention that I financed the thing for five years, so along with car payments, I would hate to have expensive repairs also.
  9. Where have you heard that they are going back to switches, buttons, & knobs? If that is the case, I'm glad I got a 2011 Personally, I love the MFT and have not had any problems.
  10. I too am holding off on any dealer update. Mine is working just fine so I would hate to mess it up. I'll only update when they add additional functions to it.
  11. So either all of our tires are out of balance, right from the factory, or there is an issue with the seat itself. My tires sure don't seem out of balance to me. Nice smooth ride, no pulling from the steering wheel. Could be that the drivers seat would do the same, but I can't exactly test that theory.
  12. It has done this since the day I bought my edge with 6 miles on it. I highly doubt that it is due to tires out of balance. No vibration in the whole car, just the passenger seat.
  13. Actually, I too have noticed this. I have also have a 2011 SEL, with leather seats. I too notice it most at highway speads. It's almost like an invisible annoying little kid is kicking the seatback. The vibration is strange, but not really enough to bother me. Seems like the passenger seatback shouldn't move at all though.
  14. Mine do not shut off after 15 minutes either, like the manual says. I have a 2011 SEL AWD with the leather seats.
  15. I've had my 2011 edge since last October and have not had any problems with the my ford touch. It rebooted itself once, but that's been it. I have not had my dealer install any updates. I have my blackberry connected via bluetooth, keep my ipod connected via usb. All systems work great including the navigation system, which I absolutely love because I drive a lot for my job.
