  1. Try the left LCD settings menu... under Locking there is option to either unlock just Driver door or ALL doors with the IA key when touching the handle. Should do the trick (or else there is a problem).
  2. Agreed, There has been some discussion that Ford is trying to separate the Edge from the MKX which is why you can't get those options on the Sport. (Along with adaptive cruise). I just picked my Sport up yesterday and love it. Homelink missing is not too bad since there are tons of little spots to keep/stick the garage door remote. But I definitely miss the HID as the lights are decently bright but just don't have that crisp brightness as Xenon. Will most likely get the RetroSolutions HID kit which is less than $200. Maybe I can consider it a cost savings as long as I can figure out how to install it.
  3. I'm a little confused over the update, as mine was pulled today also. My car just came in to the dealer and I was going to have them update it (even printed it out) but obviously not now. The good news I think is that they might be very close to doing an update. What seems strange is that these updates are supposed to be user-installable. So maybe this one that was pulled is being rewritten a bit to be user-installable. OR, if it's so major of an update that it has to be done at the dealer, I agree it should be a warranty repair and certainly anyone could report intermittent OS problems and then it would certainly be warranty if the update is installed as a result of the problems. I'll report in once I get my ride on Friday. I'm rocking an iPhone 4 and I suspect iOS 4.2 is going to drop this week, which may solve/create more problems.
  4. For comparison I ordered mine on 9/24, Sport AWD. They loaded up SYNC on 10/18 (I guess that's when it became... ALIVE). The dealer just got it yesterday, 11/9, and I'm going to pick her up on Friday. So that's 6 1/2 weeks to Florida. I think a lot of the order process has to do with dealer allotments and what's scheduled to be built. Also transit is another factor, as mine was slated for Convoy (as opposed to rail). I had a VIN within about 3-4 weeks but had to pester them. Keep hope alive!
  5. Not sure if this is newer than what's already out there. Note this shows v1.3 described as Sync Gen2. This is my sync history for my car still in transit/production: TYPE NAME VERSION DESCRIPTION STATUS DATE BT4T-14D544-AJ1.3SYNC GEN2 CCPU (AJ)CI10/19/2010 BT4T-14D544-AJ1.3SYNC GEN2 CCPU (AJ)CI10/18/2010 (Sorry... HTML got messed up in post, but you get the idea)
  6. LOVE the color and pics! I've got the same White sport coming any day now as well. Because of the black grille and wheels I think there really isn't another car that looks like it. I'm stoked and think this is a unique color combination. Although with all the white sports I see being ordered, it feels like i'll bump into one every day, but I know these will still be a tiny minority compared to the other colors. Enjoy your new whip!
  7. Just got my coupon... excludes all plans EXCEPT X-plan, which I'm using for my new Sport which should be delivered in the next couple of weeks. I'm in Florida, FYI. So in addition to X plan looks like $1000 + $500 + $750 private offer. Gonna be well under invoice! Making this choice even easier!
  8. Waldo you sound like you know your stuff. So two questions then - 1. Can the DRL module on the 2011 Edge be configured to keep on only the LED accent lights as DRLs? and 2. Can anyone find a dealer who is actually able to perform this functionality? This is just one of those tiny little things that will annoy me. Not a dealbreaker, but those LED lights really have no real purpose (I guess they look cool when on), unless to fulfill the role of DRLs like on many other makes. Thanks!
  9. I think this is a cop-out on Ford's part. There is a huge difference between a Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX350. Big difference between Nissan Murano and Infiniti FX35. Both Murano and Highlander have most of these "differentiating features" such as homelink. I think Ford is lazy in how they have handled Lincoln. If they want Lincoln to be successful like Lexus or Infiniti, they need to develop an identify for Lincoln and bake that into their cars, not just de-content a few nitpicky features like homelink and HIDs. We all know the MKX is 90%+ Edge. Ford needs to invest in some unique styling and content for LIncoln cars if they want to draw buyers toward that brand. Just my $0.02.
  10. This seems impossible! There has to be a setting somewhere to make this adjustment. How frustrating! Frankly I'm surprised that those LEDs aren't used as DRLs. I don't even know what the point of having them is now... every european manufacturer is coming out with LED DRLs (Audi, MB, Porsche, VW, BMW - well not exactly with those halo/corona lights). I'd love for someone who lives in Detroit and owns a 2011 Edge to drive over to Windsor and see if a Canadian dealer can flip on those DRLs. I'll buy you a Molson if it works! ;-)
  11. I thought the vertical LEDs were the DRLs. They were on for the cars I test drove here. Isn't that what those LEDs are for? They aren't bright enough for anything else I wouldn't think.
  12. Can anyone confirm that the 2011 Sport does NOT have a homelink transmitter in the visor? Seems like a silly option not to be available from the LTD to the Sport, but you can't get HID or Adaptive Cruise so I suppose this could be on the list as well. If it doesn't have homelink, has anyone found a good hiding spot for garage door opener? I haven't had to hide one of those in years... almost every car I've had has had homelink built in somewhere. Thanks!
  13. Glad to hear about the iPhone 4 integration and other Sync services working well. Seems like many folks are having problems, but with this stuff you can't always tell if the problem is with the vehicle or with the end user's equipment or location. When I did test drive I thought the BLIS was very cool. Unobtrusive but there when you need to change lanes... don't need any extra beeping or anything like that. It will be one of those things that once you get used to it, it makes it hard to drive a car without it, like backup cameras or parking sensors. Keep those observations coming! Enjoy your new ride!
  14. This is a great topic, and something I was debating myself. I've had mostly RWD sports sedans also (a couple of FWD thrown in as well). I'm in Florida so when I asked about AWD they looked at me like I was nuts. BUT, if you look at some other brands, you'll notice that AWD is becoming the standard: Audi (Quattro), Acura (SH-AWD), Subaru, VW (4Motion), MB (4Matic). Ford should market this and not stick it as an afterthought. I think Ford is doing a poor job of selling the benefits of AWD. This is a handling feature that is useful not just in snow and mud, but also wet or slick surfaces, or even during aggressive driving/cornering. I've decided to go with AWD because of the handling characteristics, in that I don't want the stability control to have to engage in cases where the AWD can compensate. The system is designed to anticipate loss of traction, etc. instead of reacting like stability control does. I'm hoping it provides a more secure and fun driving experience. I'm looking forward to my first AWD car, so maybe I'll change my tune in the future. We'll see. Either way, good luck with your new EDGE!
  15. Just a thought here, but have you driven it around for a while? Reason being, I had an Acura TL and read a whole writeup on some complicated algorithm that Acura used for measuring outside temps. Basically in order to ensure accuracy (and not read engine heat) the car had to travel over 25 MPH for a period of like 5-10 minutes before the car would sample the outside temperature. And if there was a lot of stop-and-go without a continuous 5 minutes at speed, it could take quite some time before sampling the exterior temp. Also, there is usually some type of service menu that allows for calibration, but generally it shouldn't be off by much. I have a G35 and it consistently reads about 4 deg higher than everything else, including my wife's car and any other signage. Sorry about your superhot temps... not nice for the first week of fall.
  16. Love the tint and color combination! Thinking of doing that exact same setup. What film and % did you use? Looks like a really strong match to the back (although a bit hard to tell in that pic). Did you use a ceramic or metallic tint? I've been partial to ceramic with all the electronics in the cars, don't need any extra interference for GPS, etc. Also, did you put film on the back windows extra or just leave the factory tint?
  17. Thanks for indepth write-ups. Lots of terrific observations. Sounds like a a real solid improvement over past Edge models. Really looking forward to getting it. Glad it can run in same league as X5. Sure as hell cheaper! I too did notice some Mytouch screen lags when I test drove the LTD model. Sounds like there's going to be a system update later this year/early next that will do some app/web browser implementation. Maybe they'll speed up some of the controls with that release. We're going to have to start thinking of our cars as computers with system updates, etc. Brave new world!
  18. Question for those who have gotten their 2011s, primarily Sports... I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Sport AWD, but this is my first crossover/SUV. I've generally had 4dr sports sedans, such as G35, TL, A4, etc. but with the kiddies I really need more room and am not driving my car as much as I would like. I realize this will not handle like a sport sedan, but for those of you who have driven those and are coming into the Edge, can you provide your impressions on the fun quotient and handling capability of the Edge or Edge Sport? I can't drive a Sport here but I have driven a LTD and like it very much, but it is hard to get a good feel from a 10 min drive around the dealer. Thoughts? Thanks much and hoping to make a final decision this week as my G35 lease is about over!
  19. Really nice pictures! I think i'm about to pull the trigger on a white Sport AWD. I like how you captured available light with the headlights and DRLs. Question for you: I'm a little sad that the Sport can't get HID headlights, and i've had Xenons in various cars for years. I understand these are a fairly new bulb application for the projector halogens. What's your impression of the headlight coverage and color, and how would you say it compares to HID (if you've ever had in the past)? thanks!
