I thought that all 2011 Edge's had the MFT touchscreen and system. I was speaking to someone today who says he has a 2011 Edge SEL and it does not have the MFT system. He bought it used and I'm thinking it is a 2010 and the dealer told him it was a 2011.

I know no one knows yet but, if it includes a map update (which is needed), will they also be sending a new SD card or will the map be put on the hard drive with the MFT software?

I agree with i20sailor. There is a problem here. Today it was sunny and 75 outside. My Temp was set to 68 (as it was when I shut the car off). When I got in the car, the inside temp was very hot, maybe 100 degrees from the sun. When I started the car, the re-circ never went on and the fan speed was not fast. I left it go and it was maybe 20-30 minutes before it was a reasonable temp inside the car. Apparently since it was 75 outside and My Temp was set to 68, the system didn't compute that it needed to cool the car from 100 inside to 68. My car is going into the dealer on Friday for MFT update and I will discuss this with them. It's gonna be a long hot summer in the MKX.

I miss the headlight on indicator also. The ambient lighting goes on when the headlights are on so I just look at my cupholders. If they are lit, my headlights are on.

I have a 2011 MKX that cost about $50k last September. I really hate when anything on my car doesn't work and you can imagine how unhappy I have been with the MyLincolnTouch problems. I have experienced many of the problems described on these forums. Every time I start the car, I don't know what is going to happen. Will I be on Sirius, USB, AM? It's anybody's guess. Will it detect my SD card and will I have Nav? It really is incredibly frustrating for me. I was so disgusted, I contacted my local Acura dealer 2 weeks ago to see if I could trade it in an Acura MDX. (I previously had an RL and loved it). Of course a used 2011 Lincoln MKX is not listed on Edmunds or KBB for trade in value. My Acura dealer contacted three different Lincoln dealers to see what they would pay for the car. All three said they really don't want the car and the HIGHEST OFFER by a Lincoln dealer was $31,000 (for a 6 month old car that cost $50k with 7,500 miles on it). If the Lincoln dealers don't want them on their lots, we are doomed. We will be giving these cars away in 4-5 years when trading them in.

I traded in my 2007 Acura RL with XM for my 2011 MKX. There is no question the sound was better on my Acura. I was surprised of the diminished quality of sound when I listened to Sirius on my MKX. The other thing is that I lose the signal for a second or two when I go under small bridges now and that did not happen in my Acura. I had to be stopped under a bridge to lose the signal. Now the question is...is the difference because one was XM and the other is Sirius or is it that the Acura had a much better satellite radio and the Lincoln radio just gets poorer reception?

I have a 2011 Lincoln MKX with the THX audio system.

I use an ipod nano with the USB connection for music. I do get "skips" when listening. It is infrequent, maybe once or twice a week, but it does happen. When the music stops, I always look at the screen to see if maybe I am getting a phone call. It is irritating in that it should not happen.

It happened three times today and has happened before when driving in the rain. The collision avoidance indicator comes on in the left side LCD screen on the dash. It says the sensor is blocked. I will ask the dealer about this next time the car goes in. I don't think rain should cause this to happen.

Thanks for the reply. My radar detector has a "smart" cord with a module that has lights and a silencer button. This module gets mounted near the dash or front pillar so I can't connect the wire at the map lights.

I want to hardwire my radar detector in my 2011 MKX because the 12-volt outlets remain on when the car is shut off. I tried to connect the hot wire to several fuses in the kick panel (all of which should go off with the car) but it seems they are always on. Has anyone done this? Can you tell me where you connected to a fuse or wire that goes off with the car? Thanks.

There are two things I had on my previous car (2007 Acura RL) that I wish my 2011 MKX had. First, I like to know when my headlights are on, especially at dawn or dusk, in case I want them on and the auto sensor has not turned them on. I keep the switch in the auto setting but I like to know if they are on. My Acura had a light on my dashboard that I could always see when my lights were turned on. I don't see that on the MKX. Second, I wish there were turn signal indicators on the side mirrors. I think this is a great safety feature especially when changing lanes on the highway. For a $50,000 car, I wish they were there.

I watched the MyLincolnTouch video on the Lincoln website several times. You can see the response time when an option is selected and it seems pretty quick. I can tell you that the Touch system on my MKX is not that quick and there is a lag time. I sure hope that Ford did not speed up the video to make it look like it is faster. Hopefully software and firmware upgrades will speed it up. It's certainly not slow enough to be a deal breaker and it seems to be a nice system. I do have some suggestions for enhancements however.

That's exactly what I did. I bought a nano 6 gen to use in the car. It works great. Songs were indexed and it displays artist, song length, time remaining, etc.

My iphone4 connected fine when I picked up my car. The next day it would not connect. I tried everything, rebooting the phone, deleting it from SYNC and trying to re pair it, etc. Nothing worked. Then someone on these forums suggested to pull the fuse that powers SYNC and reinsert it (forcing a reboot) and I was able to pair it again. That was earlier today so we will see if it holds the connection. Obviously I should not have had to do that. Second, the SYNC website indicated there was an update available that was not installed on my car. I did the update and the SYNC system said it was successful. Then I went to the SYNC website to send the successful install to Ford and I got an error. The SYNC online chat tech said I did not need that update. It was already installed. He said the SYNC website was wrong. Otherwise, I wish the response on the touch screen was faster. I seems to lag after you hit your selection. Before I bought the car, I watched the online video on the Lincoln website and it showed a very fast response when hitting the touchscreen. Now I am thinking they may have speeded up that video for promo purposes. Hopefully, they will be able to speed this up with software and firmware updates.

I have had my Mediterranean Blue MKX for two days now and have been playing with the settings. I would like to have the MyLincolnTouch screen start with the navigation screen displayed when I start the car, which would be as it was when I turned the car off. The owners manual refers to a "custom user profile" for the system which would be saved with the memory buttons with the seat, mirror, etc. I watched the DVD and it also mentions a custom profile available in the menu area. I cannot find that option or any way to set up a default display. When I start the car, the display shows all four MyTouch areas and I have to select the navigation each time.

I plan to do this update tomorrow. You said you inserted the USB before starting the car. I was going to insert it after starting the car and having the SYNC booted. Is there a preferred sequence? The SYNC site says to use a USB flash drive dedicated only to SYNC updates. Somehow it can keep track of your updates that way so I am buying a fresh USB drive tomorrow.

Many buyers do not like to extend warranties. I figured in a car loaded with computer technology and gadgets, one repair after the factory warranty will probably pay for the extended warranty. If you sell the car before the warranty is up, you can transfer it as an incentive to a buyer or cancel it and get a prorated refund of the unused time or miles. I get nervous as I approach the time when my warranty will expire because as soon as it expires, that's when you may have an expensive repair. When you buy it at the time of purchase, you can finance it with the car loan. If you buy it later, you can't finance it.

I just picked up my 2011 MKX yesterday. The dealer wanted $1,575 for a 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty and $1,800 for a 7 year, 100,000. I took the 7 year. They offered an annual service for 5 years that included a paint coating that lasts a year, scotchguard on non-leather areas and an undercoating. They re-apply all three each year for 5 years. It was $499 ($100 a year).

What is the best way for me to now listen to my music in the new MKX? I would prefer to just have mp3 files on a usb flash drive but getting from iTunes to mp3 is difficult. I guess I could buy a new ipod (now on my iphone4) dedicated to the car. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I may be buying an MKX in the Mediterranean Blue color. My dealer is trying to get one transferred from another dealer and I will know on Monday. Does anyone have a pic of either an MKX or Edge in that color? When I see it on the Lincoln website when it shows the car filled in with the color, it looks blueish but when I see it on the Edge website, it looks greenish.

Can someone elaborate on this "chip"? I have an iphone4 and would want to have any abilities that I could from using that. If I buy an MKX now, will I have the ability to upgrade later? Is this actual hardware and could I not have the ability to upgrade? or is this a firmware or software upgrade that will be available to me?

The 2011 MKX is starting to show when searching the inventory of dealers on the Lincoln website. It seems each one that shows has the word "null" in it. Does anyone know what that means? Could it mean it is expected to arrive but is not there yet?
