  1. This just started happening to me this past week - 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD also. I'll have to get it checked out at the dealer during the next oil change. I nudge the shifter and the message disappears and the seat returns to its correct position. Amy - any resolution to the problem?
  2. I went from a 99 F150 reg cab with 8 foot bed to the 2011 Edge with the trailer hitch. Yes, it was very nice to throw just about anything back there but I was getting 13.5 mpg at the end with the small V8. 50% mpg improvement now with the Edge. What is nice about the Edge (I don't know about the CRV) is that the passenger front folds down which allows longer cargo to be stored. This has helped me out several times. I test drove the CRV when it first came out - my wife was looking for a new car and we both thought it was very under powered. If you don't get the Edge then I would look at the RAV4 V6 before getting the CRV if you are interested in towing with a small SUV.
  3. My 2011 Edge also had a funny burnt smell coming from the front end. Brought it in (fearing dreaded PTU problem) and dealer found stickers burning off. After a few thousand miles, it went away. Hopefully you have the same minor issue.
  4. Updated from 2.4 to 2.11. No issues with the update which took less than an hour. When I went to confirm my installation on the Sync site and I received an error message as some people here have noted. Then I saw that my flash drive wasn't mapped (not sure why it couldn't find it again since the download went fine). Rebooted and tried again and success. I found 2.4 to be somewhat stable for me. Hopefully 2.11 is better or at the least not worse.
  5. It's not just an issue with techs like Jiffy Lube. After I had my 1st oil change at a Ford dealer, the first thing I checked was if the oil life was reset to 100%. It wasn't and I did it myself. Not a big deal. Next oil change I will remind them to reset it.
  6. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday recalled about 35,000 pickup trucks and crossover vehicles in the U.S. and Canada because of possible fuel leaks and electrical shorts that could lead to fires. Ford said the recall includes about 25,000 2010 Ranger pickups and involves fixing potential problems with the fuel line that could lead to a fuel leak and a fire. Separately, Ford is recalling more than 9,000 trucks and crossovers to fix a software problem that could lead to an electrical short and overheating, potentially causing a fire. The recall involves 2011 model years of the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers and the Ford F150, F250, F350, F450, F550 trucks. Ford said no fires or injuries had been reported in the Ranger recall, which involves pickups built from mid-October 2009 through mid-May 2010. The recall involving the Edge and F-Series trucks covers vehicles built from October 25, 2010 through November 20, 2010. Both are expected to begin in early March. Owners can contact Ford at (866) 436-7332 for additional details.
  7. I wanted exactly the same configuration - Limited with Drivers Entry and Tow package. We also wanted AWD, bordeaux red, black interior with 18 inch wheels and nothing else. Our dealer found 2 within 125 miles and we bought one so they are out there. cars.com may help since you can enter the search word "tow" at the bottom of the parameters. I wanted the factory tow package since it supposedly has additional cooling installed. Good Luck!
  8. For those still having problems with ambient lighting and wallpaper after the upgrade, this post was on the syncmyride site: "No, we do pay attention. I have figured out what is going on with the ambient lighting colors and wallpaper and will follow up on it. It is NOT a software bug. It has to do with the software "parts" that are selected to be installed with the upgrade in service. On a Ford Edge this can be easily fixed by reinstalling BT4T-14F496-AL followed by a reboot"
  9. Have you tried using commands to control voice volume? When in navigation mode, press on the steering wheel controls. When prompted, you may say any of the following commands: • Repeat Instruction • Detour • Cancel Route • Cancel Next Waypoint • Show Next Waypoint •Show Destination • Show Turn List • Show Route • Show 3D • Where Am I • Show Map • Show North Up • Voice Off • Voice On • Voice Volume Decrease • Voice Volume Increase • Zoom Out • Zoom In • Destination • Destination Home • Destination <nametag> • Destination play nametag • Destination <POI Category> • Destination POI • Destination Nearest <POI Category> • Destination Street Address • Destination Favorites • Destination Intersection • Destination Previous Destination • Destination Nearest POI
  10. You can use Edmunds to select the interior color and search. I found 3 Siennas within 118 miles of Colorado Springs. Closest is Medved Ford Lincoln Mercury with is 36 miles away. I would call to see if they have it in stock.
  11. You can change the amount of data used to calculate the MPG by increasing/decreasing the number of minutes. I believe the choices are 10, 20, and 30 minutes. I use 30 minutes and my MPG number changes by one tenth on an average day. It is now about 20.4 with mostly highway (with lots of hills) and some backroads.
  12. Tested the length of time the center display stays white - went off after 10 minutes. Locking using key fob turns it off. Also touching the "audio off" on the Sony system turns it off but not before the Ford logo is displayed. I'm guessing this is a software issue and will be fixed with an update. I don't think Ford meant to have the display stay on for this length of time.
  13. Thanks for the link. The OP has the problem spelled out and is the same I noticed. After turning off the engine and getting out and shutting the door everything works fine. It's when you go back and then open/close the door that the LCD stays on. I haven't tried locking yet since I only discovered this today. If it stays on for 20 minutes (as one of the posters indicated) that is way too long.
  14. I may have not noticed that this was happening before today. Yes - an undocumented feature! My personal preference would be to keep the LCDs off and just use the overhead lamp and ambient lighting if just opening/closing the door to get something out of my Edge. I will experiment when I get home tonight to see how long it takes to shutoff.
  15. I noticed this morning that after opening the door and closing it that the 8 inch LCD stayed on and would not go off. I have the drivers entry package with the push button start. The 4 inch and 8 inch displays turn on (as a white background) and then they all usually turn off after 20 seconds after opening/closing the door. I didn't have the chance to see if it would go off after 10 minutes. When driving into work and then shutting the engine off it worked fine. Then after opening the door again (with engine off), the 8 inch display stayed on. I did notice a small flicker that it was "thinking" about going off but then it stayed on. I started and then turned it off so I didn't risk running down the battery while I was at work. Should I do a reset by pulling a fuse? Or is this a dealer fix? Had the Edge for just under two weeks and this is the first problem. Thanks.
  16. Thanks. I also talked to the salesperson and they took the extra $500 off. Will be picking it up today!
  17. We are locked in for the $1000 incentive that expired on 10/4 and will pick up our Edge later this week. I couldn't find the new incentive/bonus on the Ford site or Edmunds or True Car. It would be nice to get the extra $500. I'll have talk to the saleperson to verify. Thanks.
  18. It may come down to that. Our confidence level has to be really high that the problem is fixed before we buy this Edge.
  19. Not sure a fuse would do it. They replaced a part which made it work for a few tries and then it stopped working (not sure if it got fried or what). Wiring is more likely the cause and much harder to diagnose. I'll find out next week.
  20. The edge we are in the process of buying is in the shop with an electrical problem with a door lock (one door out of the four). It's probably part of the IA system that comes with the 301A package. Anyone else have anything similar? Not a comfortable feeling to have a possible wiring problem with a new car (and one we haven't purchased yet).
  21. We ended up getting an Edge that was already built with exactly the color and options we wanted. It is a couple hundred miles away and we'll pick it up next week as soon as the dealer does the swap. Better than waiting 12 weeks! We did get the $1000 incentive but I also noticed something called RCL Customer Cash on the Ford website. I am guessing this is for leases since our salesperson didn't mention it. Is that correct? Thanks for all your help.
  22. My wife and I are looking at the 2011 Ford Edge Limiteds and I'm guessing we will end up ordering one. It has been a long time since I ordered a vehicle. We talked to a salesperson last night about ordering and he raised some questions: 1. Incentives and Rebates - Are these applied only upon delivery and not at ordering time? This is what our saleperson said since they technically apply only toward stock. He did say whatever incentives and rebates are available when we take delivery will be applied - but I guessing it would be up to us to push for them although the dealer should do this automatically. There is a $1000 incentive available now that expires on 10/4 which we will lose out on. 2. Price increases - If we agree upon a price for an Edge and order one and then factory raises prices, will our negotiated price also go up? Salesperson said yes. I wasn't so sure. 3. Financing - Is this done at ordering or delivery? I'm guessing delivery since it doesn't makes sense otherwise - but you never know. 4. Time to delivery. The salesperson said up to 12 weeks. I know that may have been the case in June/July but since the factory is now at full production, I would have thought 6-8 weeks was more of a reasonable estimate. The salesperson talked about allocations and such but 12 weeks still seemed out of line. 5. Deposit - We have been hearing mostly $500 but one was $1000 and another was $2000. Less is better. Do you think dealers will move off the higher amounts to accept lower? I also read that using a credit card for the deposit is a must - never cash or check. Thanks for your help
  23. Thanks for all the replies. We have decided on what we want for options which definitely includes navigation and once we (my wife actually) decides on a color, we will look at inventories and go from there. We will either buy or order within the next two weeks. I talked with one dealer on Saturday and he said Ford would prefer more orders and less inventory. He said Ford is being very strict and wants dealers to maintain inventory based on their "floorplan". Otherwise he would prefer to have a fleet of new Edges on the lot.
  24. Hi, My wife and I are looking at 2011 Edge Limiteds and will either order or buy one that is available. I noticed a few listed on inventories that have most of the options we want but no navigation. Is this a matter of just purchasing and using the SD card or is there a software upgrade that has to be applied by the dealer? Would it be better to have installed from the factory? On the installed class II hitches, one dealer thought it might include a transmission cooler but I only saw a larger radiator and additional cooling fans. Anyone notice a transmission cooler with their hitch? Thanks.
