  1. Perhaps I am missing something, but when I am listening to Sirius, I cannot get the song title and artist information to show up on the main screen. It shows up no problem on right hand LCD screen, but not the main screen. On the main screen, all it shows is the Sirius channel number along with the channel name. Am I missing something or does the main screen not show this info?

  2. IMHO, the MTF is no more distracting than traditional buttons. Ever see some interiors that go absolutely button overload? Acura is notorious for a gazillion buttons, which is just as distracting. I agree with Scott as well, once you get familiar with the MFT (namely the voice commands), it's not really that distracting at all.

  3. So in your professional advice what would be the right tools to do the job and not break the bank

    What you will need if you want to start doing paint correction on your own is the following;

    Clay bar and lubricant http://www.detailedi...ube-combo-P481/

Random orbital polisher (Porter Cable 7424 is always a good one to start with) and pads http://www.detailedi...XP-65-Kit-P333/

    Polish http://www.detailedi...2-P20/16-oz-S1/ http://www.detailedi...1-P19/16-oz-S1/

    MF Towels http://www.detailedi...arter-Kit-P351/

The above are just examples of products you could purchase. There are more expensive ones out there, but wanted to keep budget in mind for you. You would be looking at about $300

If you don't want to spend that much right now, I would definitely at least pick up some good quality MF towels, two wash buckets, two grit guards, and a 100% sheepskin mitt. Using the two bucket system along with quality washing/drying products will drastically reduce the amount of paint imperfections on your Edge and your F-150.

  4. I believe in doing things myself. that way when it gets screwed up I have no one to blame but myself. I would love to get the right tools for the job. Having been a C130 Crew Chief and worked on all my cars, trucks, and motorcycles I know the importance of having the right tools to do the job. I did save the link you gave in an earlier post. I do know if you are not careful you can burn through the paint when using any hi speed polisher. Thanks for the help.

A rotary polisher yes, a random orbital not so much.

  5. Ok after reading several thoughts on sealers, cleaners, and wax. I have always used Meguires products. I use the Liquid Gold Class on my truck and cars. Is this good to use on my 2011 Kona Blue Edge? I will pick up the good stuff because I had a friend that use to detail cars but he has since moved away sometime ago. So for now is the Meguires one of the best OTC polish and wax out there to use? Also what would be good to use on my 1999 F150 XLT to bring back the luster to the paint?

Can you use Megs GC on your Edge? Absolutely. It's not a bad OTC carnuba wax at all. The downside to the GC, and just like any other carnuba wax, is it's durability. You'll only get about 4-6 weeks protection out of it, and after that it will need to be reapplied. For people that don't mind applying paint protection every month, using a carnuba is no problem. For those that don't want to or don't have the time to apply paint protection every month, a synthetic polymer sealant is a great choice. You'll get approximately 4-6 months durability out of a good quality sealant. And if you want, you can apply your Megs GC over the sealant for a little bit more depth and gloss.

Regarding bringing back the luster and shine on your F-150, you'll really need to polish it by machine. Using an abrasive polish along with a random orbital polisher will remove a very thin layer of the clearcoat, thus removing any paint imperfections, oxidation, etc. Either you can take it to a local detailer or you can purchase the necessary tools and do it yourself. If you are potentially interested in doing it yourself I can help you get started with the right tools and products. :)

  6. Got my car back last week and it works! It actually works! Actually, I take that back. Everything but the usb port works. I can stream bluetooth audio. I can plug in my ipod via av/in. Navigation is working. Sync is working faster and better than ever. Some features that I didn't even know weren't working (the tag feature) are back on track. The only thing I can't figure out is how to watch video. I plug in my iphone and try to watch youtube videos via the av/in and can't seem to get it to work..even in park. Anyone know anything about that? Thanks!

That's fantastic news. Regarding video, have you tried it with you parking brake engaged? I haven't checked the Edge manual, however the parking brake needs to be engaged on my Infiniti if you want to watch video. It might be the same on the Edge.

  7. I had this issue with my Zune connected via USB. Pulling the fuse repaired the issue. You don't lose any settings by pulling the fuse, waiting a minute or so and then replacing it. Be careful with the fuse removal, though, as getting to it is a pain. It is really easy to drop the fuse (#29) behind the panel, never to be seen again.

    -steve

Yep, I've already lost one fuse behind the panel.

  8. FINALLY! An actual update! My dealer actually called me today and told me that my vehicle was READY! I went to pick it up - they told me they updated the software and the delay was Ford being able to provide the update to them...anyway, MFT/Sync has been updated, and my initial observations are positive.

My Iphone 4 synced right up without a problem, voice calls were made and received. -- I have not tested Pandora.

    Climate Controls are fully operational.

Ambient light is off by one color.

    Radio controls are fully operational.

    Backup camera fully operational.

White nightlight screen is no more.

MFT/Sync seems much more responsive from when I dropped it of 17 days ago.

I will provide further updates as I continue to test.

Hang tight folks, it's getting better.

Did I mention how much I missed My Edge...the Fusion was nice, but The Edge is clearly a cut above.

    Brian

Good stuff, that's positive news Brian!! You've certainly been a trooper while your Edge has been in the shop for almost 3 weeks, kudos to you! :)

  9. I wish I knew more about what you can/can't do swapping out tires. I've got the 22's on my 2011 sport and am looking at putting on dedicated snows. I don't want to be remounting tires every 4/5 months so would want to pick up new rims too. For those in the know, are there only certain brands/sizes of 17" rims that will fit where my 22's where? What rims did you go with for your Blizzaks?

    Thanks!

You can run either 17" or 18" wheels on your Edge Sport with no issues at all. If you go to here at TireRack's website and plug in your 2011 Edge Sport, you'll see what size they recommend. You can also go here and use a tire size calculator to see how it affects your speedo as well.

Btw, I have my Blizzaks mounted on the factory 17" wheels that come on the SE model.

  10. Shane did you get the tire pressure sensors or are you just ignoring the low tire pressure warning light...trying to get ahead of the game for when we get our Edge.

Nope, I didn't bother getting the TPMS. I am used to driving in the winter months without TPMS and dealing with the warning, so it wasn't a big deal to me.

  11. Almost half the country is covered in some kind of snow and only 4 replies?? Wow...everyone must be staying home! LOL

Sorry, wish I could help more. Heavy rains and 13C (55F) is the weather tomorrow, so our winter really hasn't started yet. Not that I'm complaining though. :)

  12. Our 07 Edge AWD was the best vehicle I have ever driven in the snow. A complete and total tank. Haven't had our 11 Sport long enough but the small driving we've done seems almost as good with the sole exception of a bit worse stopping due to the 22s.

Are you actually driving in the snow with your 22's???

We haven't really had any snow yet here so I haven't been able to gauge how it performs yet. Proper winter rubber is most important and I just got my winters installed yesterday. :)

  13. Shane I have talked to them a couple times and I will be checking again this coming week. It looks like it will be after Christmas before we get the Edge. My previous car was a lease and it's going back on Wednesday or Thur. of this coming week. The Ford dealer is giving us a loaner until the Edge arrives. So no complaints. On Tue. I will be receiving the products you suggested from eshine for detailing. You & yours have a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

That's too bad that you won't have it before Christmas. I suppose it takes a little longer delivering them over to the rock. :)

Let me know if you have any questions about the detailing products you ordered and Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.

    Shane

  14. I've had my new Edge for over two weeks now and figured I would post a short review on it. I

While it's been mainly my wife driving it as I work from home full time, I must say that I am quite impressed with it. I find the ride of the Edge extremely smooth and quiet and much more composed over uneven/rough roads than other CUVs we test drove. Since I more used to driving Sport Sedans and Sports cars, I am not quite used to the cornering and braking of a CUV. I am sure I will get used to it the more I drive it though. I find the interior in the Edge extremely nice and fit and finish is very good. Ford has really stepped up their interiors and it's nice to see some more soft touch materials being used. I think the 13 speaker Sony system in the Edge sounds fantastic as well and certainly goes as loud as I'd ever want it. I really like having the BAMR and will really enjoy it in the summer months. It's not like going for a top down cruise in my S2000 though. :)

Fuel economy so far has been about 11.4L/100KMs on a combination of city and highway driving. A new engine in the winter is certainly not the time to measure fuel economy though. Although we have the rebooting issue with the MFT, I am confident that Ford will correct this with current and or future TSBs. I am most impressed with the way the Edge drives, and despite the MFT issues, I have zero regrets purchasing it. :)
