  1. How cold is it when you are using the remote start? And how long before you actually get in the car? I leave my climate control on full auto and when I use remote start and it is cold out, the seat is on. When I then get in the car and press the start button, the screens come on, but the heated seat is then not on. If I want to have the heated seat, I need to turn that on manually after I "start" the car. -steve
  2. I really should point out that currently the only issue that I continue to experience is the really slow response time with MFT. The backup camera has worked all week without the rolling picture issue, no reboots/maintenance screen, and the NAV system works fine. Despite the fact that it has all worked this week I am conscious of the fact that it works. When I put it in reverse and the backup camera picture appears with the overlay and doesn't roll or go black, I am happy. And I deal with the slowness by not touching the screen for any reason until a few minutes have passed and then I give it a few moments to respond. -steve
  3. That sums it up quite nicely for me. :-) My first house cost less than this car. Granted, that was in 1978, but it was a cute little cape with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, kitchen, finished attic space and a basement. I love my Edge, but it is just a car and I expect everything to work. I haven't pulled the fuse in a few weeks now, but *every* time I get in the vehicle I am giving conscious thought about what might not work. When the backup image actually appears, or the system actually reponds to my touch input, I give thanks that I don't have to pull the fuse again. It should not be this way with a brand new luxury class (or close enough to luxury) vehicle. -steve
  4. I've found that it isn't perfect, but then neither is manually toying with the settings. Set the system on Full Auto, select a temperature and be done with it. You can adjust the temp up and down as needed, but don't fiddle with fan speeds and direction - let the system take care of it and it works well enough. -steve
  5. Unfortunately, that isn't an option currently available to us. -steve
  6. I'll await some information from you and others before making my appointment as this is a busy week or so for me. Assuming that it resolves the issues we've faced, I'll make time for the update. :-) Of course, that also assumes that it doesn't introduce new issues! -steve
  7. I suspect that *all* dealer installed updates will include that disclaimer. Anything that isn't a warranty issue (and if the various MFT issues aren't warranty issues, I don't know what is!), would certainly involve the labor charge from the dealer service dept. -steve
  8. I've never experienced this issue. Sounds to me like your control on the wheel needs to be replaced or at least looked at. it may be sticking... -steve
  9. Since the photos went out of order, I can't tell which one to identify it as, but the one where "auto" on the large strip in the lower part of the screen is the only one that shows full auto mode. I suspect that changing the vent, but not the fan means that the fan speed will adjust automatically, but air will only flow from the vent(s) you have selected. In my experience, I set it to full auto and actually select a temperature higher than I normally would feel comfortable at. That seems to get me what I want on these recently below freezing days. If I don't remote start the car and get in when it is cold, when the car warms up to send me heat, the actual temp is quite a bit higher than my choice and the fan speed is high. This is, of course, after a period of little air flow since the engine was still cold. Once the overall interior temps are in range (actually a bit warmish!), the fan drops down and the temp remains comfortable for the remainder of the drive. -steve
  10. Just saw this on the Sync community: http://boards.synccommunity.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=fordsyncmb&tid=3096 "To all 2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX owners with the MyFord Touch sytem - There is a new software update (G2 V1.1) that is now available through Ford dealers. We are taking the opportunity to offer a software update to add enhancements and compatibility improvements as well as correcting functionality of several features. As a planned, standard process of the SYNC and MyFord Touch development process, we continue to evolve and improve the software as we add the system to new products in our line-up, such as the Explorer and Focus. This new level of software is now being made available through this current update to existing MyFord/Lincoln Touch owners. We strongly recommend that you first contact your local Ford dealership so that they can schedule an appointment for the MyFord Touch software update. Thank you," It would have been nice to have some details as to what specific things were added and fixed. -steve
  11. I always lock my Edge Sport. It has been a while since I pulled the fuse. The backup camera is beginning to exhibit odd behavior again, but not consistently. It scrolled once last week. It went to a black screen a few times. It threw an error about not being available once last week. Ad vised me to contact the dealer. it worked next time up. The overlay appears after I am out of reverse most of the time. However, it hasn't done enough to cause me to pull the fuse again - yet. -steve
  12. The computer doesn't actually "start up" until you put the vehicle into accessory or start the engine. The lock/unlock action simply lights up the display. When I lock the vehicle, I watch for the screens to go dark. I haven't had them stay on long. It appears that if you shut off the car, get out and don't lock it, the screens stay on longer. Lock it and everything dims pretty quickly. -steve
  13. I'm in agreement that you probably do not have the rumored and long awaited update. And to repeat what has been said by others before, the problems appear to be all My Ford Touch - the software that runs on top of the Sync platform. -steve
  14. I don't have a garage, but I enjoyed your easy to follow steps. It makes me want to upgrade my Sport even though I don't need HomeLink! :-) -steve
  15. Thanks. :-) The return trip on Sunday was actually much better than expected. Average fuel mileage was 22.5 MPG and an average speed of 65-70 MPG. No stop/go traffic en route, so this was almost pure highway mileage. -steve
  16. You're welcome, Richy. Yes, they are a wonderfully goofy breed. As for the thread topic, I'm half through the trip this weekend. On the 1st leg the Edge Sport got just shy of 22 MPG with an average highway speed of 65 to 70 MPH. We had some slow traffic due to weather (rain/sleet) in the first hour and a half, but after that it was smooth sailing. I know we'll have lots of traffic tomorrow, so mileage is bound to be lower. -steve
  17. What features do you believe to be missing? -steve
  18. No credit card drop required, wilsons66604. And I changed my avatar over at the Sync forum to match. :-) I thought about pulling the fuse, but since I'm the only driver (for now) disabling the Easy Exit feature was easy enough. Since I'm in the club with the fuse pulling for Sync/MyFordTouch, I figured that I'd let the dealer fully diagnose/replace the seat memory bits if needed to make it work. If this simple fix of sliding all the way up resets things - golden. I can live with that for now! Now, if we could find an easy solution for resetting the Sync module that doesn't require crawling on the floor and possibly dropping the fuse into the kick panel.... And a Happy Thanksgiving to you, Ridbidge. I'll let you know if the problem reappears. -steve
  19. Interesting. I immediately turn off/mute the audio from the Nav system, so I never noticed it. -steve
  20. Ridbidge, it worked! Early this morning I started the car, moved the seat all the way forward, then manually moved it back. I got in the car, set the Easy Exit option to enabled and shut off the car. The seat moved back as before. I started it back up, and I sat in amazement as the seat moved back to the desired position. Let's both see how long that lasts! Thanks for sharing your experience. ;-) -steve
  21. Glad to oblige. :-) These are from last Christmas: http://1osqpa.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pxEH7QwZy-qCV1bdVakQFPbN5IPmYc6vTDdyYYSE1JgI-csAZD5RUKUu8Mg_dnAIwW4OqTetZUHyIk-m-e_553v12ONp-gd2O/IMG_2141.jpg?psid=1 http://1osqpa.blu.livefilestore.com/y1p1lNvJPG6jyPPjbznaH74TVl4T4ZajQlzBL2Q_4eJ6eISxLNETUKvSLXmVVewPoUaN_Te5YnyO3_WDm39huAau4YrdWWwUaPH/IMG_2104.jpg?psid=1 She's about 7 years old now and still a clown. -steve
  22. Fascinating solution. I'll have to try that tomorrow, but I'm not going to hold me breath. On the other hand, my seat will always go back and up/down/recline to a preset position and it goes back if I enable the Easy Exit feature. It won't move forward for memory or upon start with Easy Exit enabled. That sounds like the same issue you had, so who knows... I'll let you know. -steve
  23. I received the locking lugs with my 2011 Edge Sport from the dealer. I don't know if it is standard, but I believe that it is for the Sport wheel trim. When I test drove the car, the locking lugs were in the glove box along with the blister pack containing the Nav SD card. -steve
  24. I've had my Edge Sport for a month now. I've filled it up 3 times. Most of my driving is local - 40-45 MPH max with traffic lights. I'm getting 16 MPG and I don't generally drive it hard. On the other hand, I've done a fair amount of idling to troubleshoot MyFordTouch issues, so that would impact overall mileage. I'll be doing some highway miles for the Holiday this week. It will be interesting to see what it does for me with 2 adults and 3 dogs in the car (I doubt that the Dachshund's 12 pounds will have an impact, but combined the other 2 are about 110 pounds...) -steve
