  1. It's not so tall anymore because of the springs. They drop the Edge down quite a bit in both the front and the rear. The center of gravity is much lower. Also, I am talking straight line driving here. Drag strip stuff...no track driving. Certainly the Edge is not made for that kind of driving. Straight line down low on a sanctioned track is probably more safe than driving home from work in heavy traffic on our interstate here. I will be careful...no worries. Ablb...to answer your question, I had the work done at a shop that did a very nice custom job for me. My research indicates that nobody has released an off the shelf cat back system for the 2011 or 2012 Edge Sport. I really don't understand that situation but word has it that Magnaflow is close to getting their system into the shipping phase. It's taking way too long in my opinion. If you roll up under the Sport, it is really a very simple dual exhaust system. It's an easy design. I guess demand is more likely to be the problem than design. Hopefully they will start shipping really soon.
  2. I respect that you needed to get that off your chest and I certainly respect your opinion. I honestly have no problem with the way you feel. You are right about certain things. I am probably asking for trouble on public roads. However, there is a strip very close to where I live and I honestly plan to see what I can do with a Ford crossover when its put up against other cars that might be in a similar category or even some that are out of the category. I would like to think that a good showing would make other Edge Sport owners proud of both their car and of Ford in general. I will probably run the strip once a month during the warmer months. I've put a good bit of time and money into making my Edge SPORT more sporty and in a straight line the vehicle should easily make it to 135 or so. I doubt that will ever happen in a quarter mile distance without a couple of turbos bolted on the front and back end, but in a country where we are supposed to be free to make our own choices I just am not happy with the computer limiting my speed. The computer had no idea that I was not at a sanctioned drag strip trying to win a few bucks in a race. That was the first time my fairly new Edge has been that fast and will most likely be the last time it will go that fast on a public road. Keep in mind this was on an interstate where there is at least 3 miles of a straight and gentle downhill road that was free from cars as far as we could see. I will however scold my brother about his actions and his bad decision making in general. I'm sure he will appreciate the brotherly criticism. :club: Since my initial post, I have spoken with a tuning company who is making the maps and the SCT flash tuner does have the capability to remove the speed limit restriction for anyone else who might be interested. Thanks to both of you for your input. :grouphug:
  3. Good answer but we like to be able to get the most out of performance gear we put on our vehicles. The tires are high speed low profile sport tires. The car is called a Sport model for goodness sake. I've installed a forced cold air intake with an open air filter, a low restriction exhaust, and SCT flash tuner with a dyno proven tune, lowering springs for lower center of gravity and better handling, and better brakes to stop faster. I could see it governed at a 125-130 mph range but 110 is just silly and a waste of capability in a good car. What if I want to go to the local drag strip and run the Edge? With the performance enhancements I've made a 110 limit is just going to screw me over, no doubt. There has to be a way to reprogram the computer in order to bypass the limit. Someone else out there other than me must want to go past 110 in their $45,000 Edge Sport! This is just silly nanny stuff in my opinion.
  4. I let my twin brother drive my Edge Sport while I was in the passenger seat. I've done a few common performance mods and he wanted to push the limit a bit. Despite my objection he decided to floor it on a long stretch of freeway. There is no doubt in my mind after this episode that my car is governed at approx. 110 mph. The tach was somewhere around 4500-4800 rpm from what I could tell from my angle. My brother backed off and tried again to break this barrier four times but each time I could tell that the electronics basically cut the injectors or something similar and there was no going faster. Has anyone else run into this situation? If so, what can we do to bypass the nanny system? Any ideas and thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! By the way, I really gave my brother a rough time about the speeding issue. I told him that we should do any future experiments on a closed course with a professional driver. Thanks!!!!!
  5. I installed the spectre intake and tried both the k&n filter and the spectre filter. The spectre has and open end where you can run a ram air system and it sounds a bit smoother. Between the SCT tune and the cold air intake I can feel a serious difference in zip. Plus, I do like the sound. Didnt we buy the sport model for more than just the Bbdge and a different grill?
  6. You need to hook up either a mobile broadband device that uses USB or use a mobile phone that allows broadband data sharing like the iPhone. You hook either one of those into a USB port on your Edge and then setup your mobile wifi if you want to share your mobile broadband with other passengers in your car. I've had someone tailgate me and borrow my iPhone broadband thru the edge wifi for about 15 miles. I didn't have it password protected and the guy actually stopped at the same gas station as I did and thanked me for allowing him to borrow my connection for a bit. His wife was trying to look for places to stop for the night on her iPad wle hooked up to my edge. I named my wifi Edge69er. I was born in 69 so it is not meant to be nasty. Lol
