  1. Today I contacted the salesman who sold me my '11 Edge (he's a friend) and he in turn asked the service director at the dealership. His take was since I had both MFT & Nav, I needed to wait on the package coming in the mail. That's fine. looking forward to it. Peace, DM
  2. You boys are gutsy. Of course, I don't even know what an ISO file is. I have instructed the wife to buzz me whenever the mailman drops it off at the house. Peace, DM
  3. Looks pretty snappy. That same guy (on youtube) installs a wallpaper on the new MFT system. Not real thrilled with the end result, but it's a small thing. Peace, DM
  4. Fascinating. Thank you. I had missed that completely.
  5. This would be the first I've heard about a web browser. Not sure where that came from. On the nav, I would love for one of you guys to tell me if typing in an address has been improved. Old system was so frustrating. And one more thing, if I've read this thread accurately, nobody has received this through the mail at home, only via the dealer, correct? Peace, DM
  6. Downloading this now. Thanks for the tip. I will say I'm a bit dismayed that there is anybody at Ford with the skill level of designing an app like this who is NOT working on the MFT update!!!!!!!!! Ooops, I just rebooted my phone and the app won't work well within the first few minutes of it starting. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Peace, DM
  7. Thanks for the suggestion on the Nifty brand. Never heard of them. Many people on this forum love Weathertech & Huskey mats and I understand why, but I want carpeted mats. The ones that came with my 2011 SEL don't cover near enough of the floor and I predict they won't last long. I'm in Florida, so carpet mats do the job just fine, but I'm always on the lookout for other custom fit mats that are carpeted and there just aren't many brands that make them. Peace, DM
  8. Got a 2011 SEL and love it. Besides the bugginess of MFT, I'm mildly irked by only one thing: The driver's side power window switches. My SEL has the "one auto" configuration and my 2001 Lexus had "all auto." It is my understanding that the "all auto" option is available, but has anybody swapped this out? Is it a simple part swap? I'd love some input. Thanks in advance. Peace, DM
  9. You got any suggestions or you just gonna be critical? Peace, DM
  10. I'm a bit surprised and disappointed that the home screen choices will go away. If I'm understanding this correctly, adding my own pictures (which I do now) will be pointless since the stuff on four quadrants will cover it up. Of all the things to change, that one seems odd to me. Still looking forward to it. Peace, DM
  11. Brian Cooley is the best. That video is actually been around since last November and was part of his series of videos from the LA Autoshow. Glad you posted though. It is very encouraging. Peace, DM
  12. Well, I took it back to my installer and he tinkered with the gain on the RE-Q5 and also installed two RCA noise filters. That did the trick. No more 16 kHz tone. He made some other adjustments to the overall sound stage because I was concerned that things were too bright and harsh. Sounds much warmer now. Really glad I've upgraded the sound system. Can't wait until I get the MFT software upgrade. Thank you guys for your input. Peace,
  13. Just ran a quick test. The high pitched noise only happens when the ignition is fully engaged. It is not there when the key is in the ACC position nor the ON position, but when I crank the car all the way, it's there. FWIW.
  14. Hey Folks, I recently had a 6" Bazooka sub, a Boss Chaos Epic 5 channel amp & a RE-Q5 installed. I love the result with one exception: I now have a high pitched sound coming from all sources on my SEL's MFT head unit. The sound is at a constant pitch and sounds very much like a 16 kHz tone. I know many of you have this same set up, so I'm wondering if any of you found this same problem. If so, is there something simple I can to do fix it? If it's complicated, I'll take it back to the installer and let him chase the problem down. Peace, DM
  15. Yup, "OK, OK" on the right hand side of the steering wheel is what I do as well and you can do it quickly without looking.
  16. Santa did well this year and a 6" Bazooka sub, a Boss Chaos Epic 5 channel amp & a RE-Q5 all made it here in time for Christmas. A couple of questions: Is the wiring sequence Head Unit >> RE-Q5 >> Amp? Or Head Unit >> Amp >> RE-Q5? Which is better? Where have you guys had your sub knob installed near the drivers seat.? Does the "iPod" input knob included with the RE-Q5 even need to be used since I have the MFT system? Are there any other specifics I should tell the installer? Thanks a bunch.

  18. Ok, sorry, but I have an SEL with no sub. So would that change what I would already find back there?
  19. What did you end up doing? I swapped out my four main speakers in my 2011 SEL for some MB Quartz speakers and have now bought the RE-Q5, a Bazooka sub, and a 5 channel amp. I'd love to know how you wired everything so I can tell my installer. Thanks.
  20. Are you saying your iPod is connected through USB and you are seeing video on your MFT screen? Only while parked or in motion? What type of files are these that are working? MP4? M4V?
