  1. So a hail storm with 1/2-3/4" hail came through on Tuesday night and I never even noticed dents until I washed the cars today. The Edge had the following dents:

    Hood: 6+

    Roof: 40+

    Trunk: 0

    Drivers Side: 15

    Passenger Side: 2

The wife's 2005 Honda Accord faired much better as it was blocked from the side by the Edge but she had:

Hood: 0 (that I could find)

    Roof: 28+

    Trunk: 8

    Drivers side: 6

    Passenger Side 2

Is there a magic number where they would replace the roof or just pop them all out? I put the claim in for the Edge but I'm waiting to see how it goes before I make the claim for the Accord. The problem I see is that if we ever trade the Honda in, it is pretty worthless with the hail damage.

Of course, I cannot live with the dents in the Edge and it will be fixed, no matter the cost.

I've known some friends whose cars were totaled after getting hailed on but I don't believe we've come even close to that threshold. Thoughts, comments, experience, advice, all appreciated.

  2. Born and raised in MA. Born in Brockton, grew up on the cape, college at UMASS-A, spent most of my early to mid-20's in Boston. Moving back in the 1-3 months. Can't wait.

  3. Did you report it to Ford yet? I posted instructions on a similar name Topic. (sorry I don't have time to find it right now)

I really think if enough people complain we could get it covered under warranty and some people would be able to get reimbursed. Good luck

  4. So as packing to move to middle of nowhere TX after a quick trip to Maui, I lose my set of keys to my 2011 Edge SEL w/3 button key. So all I'm left with is what I will call my "Valet" key. Knowing my luck, and Murphy's Law, I refuse to drive 1600+ miles with the wife following me while driving the moving truck and just one key between us when we have 3-4 stops along the way.

So I get to Ford, explain to them I only have this one Valet key. Ok, $2X for another Valet key, $100 for programing, $60 if you want a 3 button Fob thing, I'm like ok as long as everything is under $200.

Thought it was going to take an hour, 2 hours later, a new Valet key wont program and I wasn't willing to make a $120 bet (and neither were they) for a new 3 button key. So I hope things can work themselves out over the next 10 days while I'm away and the new 3 button key I got for $17 on ebay, I hope to program as long as I have 2 working keys. We shall see.

  5. Hey guys,

I know that there is a majority of people that dislike (well, Dingo hates) the Pirellli Scorpions but I got a very good deal of $510 (discount tire direct, instant $50, then $70 gift card) for 4 of them and I took the chance. I got a used set of Limited rims and definitely needed 2 new times w/in 10K (would have approached $350/400 for just 2) but with the deal only for 4 only a lil more I pulled the trigger.

I noticed that I have the STRA's on my Edge but I ordered STR's. I noticed this on the Tirerack page:

The Scorpion STR A and Scorpion STR tires are Pirelli's premium Highway All-Season tires that were designed to deliver the Stability, Traction and Ratings (STR) appropriate for today's light trucks by adapting their performance to the needs of crossover vehicles, sport utility vehicles and light duty pickup trucks. The Scorpion STR tires are designed to combine a quiet and comfortable ride along with ease of handling and year-round traction, even in light snow.

The Scorpion STR's tread compound is molded into one of two similar, but slightly different symmetric tread designs. The tires featuring Pirelli's North American tread pattern are identified as Scorpion STR A tires, while those featuring their European tread pattern are simply identified as Scorpion STR tires.

The Scorpion STR A tire's North American tread pattern features continuous shoulder ribs and narrower groves between all of the independent tread blocks. This type of tread design would tend to result in a quieter, more even-wearing tire.

The Scorpion STR tire's European tread pattern features lateral grooves through the shoulder ribs and larger grooves between all of the independent tread blocks. This type of tread design would tend to result in a tire with better hydroplaning resistance and wet traction.

On the inside, both Scorpion STR tires feature twin, high- tensile steel belts reinforced with polyamide to provide strength and durability on top of a two-ply polyester cord body that helps cushion the ride.

I was just curious if people had noticed a significant difference between the 2?

    Thanks.

Good luck on the grill. Here is what I did. Ordered an unpainted Matte Black grill from Levitown March of 12 and I haven't done anything to it. Standard road rash but if it to the point where it look sandblasted I will paint it and put a barrier over it. I left the chrome top to give to break up the black grill and the black paint. I'm still toying with the idea of wrapping the top chrome at some point. $100 and 2 hours and it went from a stock SEL to this.

    Good luck

  7. Lowesdell,

Please check out this post and make a 10 min phone call to report it. A few people have gotten it taken care of under warranty but most either shell out a few hundred dollars or deal with it by spraying lithium grease in the latch. Mine happens mostly when the temps are below 50. If it does become a recall then those that have paid to get it fixed will be reimbursed and those of us living with it can get it fixed. Good luck.
