  1. Our lease on the 2007 SEL is up October 29th.Buyout is $13700. Wife wants a CUV, but something smaller, but NOT the Escape, so we are looking at other brands than FOMOCO, Should I buy out the lease and keep the Edge for a while and sell it OR walk away?? What are YOUR experiences at dealers when returning a leased Edge? With this low residual, do you think FOMOCO will deal lower for the buyout??
  2. ONLY use Lexol- http://www.lexol.com/ Don't use anything else!
  3. I wanted to, do the same with my 2007. DON"T! I did the research and it requires a NEW instrument panel wiring harness. The existing manual harness will not work. This is necessary ALONG with the new HVAC controller and reprogramming of the ECU module which MUST be done by the dealer- who WILL NOT DO IT because it will void existing warranty. So suck it up and twirl the knobs!
  4. Is there something that prevents you from driving it down to a local body shop and getting an estimate?? As a ex body shop man, there are many alternatives- You COULD get a plastic facia or a fender and a rattle can of paint and do the job on the cheap- but then what do you have??
  5. If you don't have the BAMR, just place the control in the glasses(??) holder. Flip the unit down and press the control or hard wire a button to the outside of the fold-down door. I've been doing this for two years-works fine.
  6. Racing? You mean drag?? At the track or on the street?? What do you complete with with about 0-60-mph time of 7.4 seconds and a quarter-mile in 15.8 seconds ?? Or is your ride a mod??
  7. Yes, I know they are supposed to tune frequency in AM/FM- however dealer service writer said I misread manual when I pointed this out to him at 7K service check. I was foolish enuff to believe him and not follow thru, mea culpa! Well, now!!! I just went out to the garage and tried the up/down buttons on the edge and THEY DO NOT WORK. They only work in the CD mode. So then I checked the Mustang and eureka (!) they WORK !! Back to the Edge, no tuning(!!!!) I suspect a bad system (?) Yes, I did read the manual trying to get the tuner to work in the Edge, but it never worked, so I 'assumed' the 'stang operated the same. Now, it is back to the dealer to repair the sound system, along with a possible bad wheel bearing- left rear, and a creaky, notchy steering wheel. Thanks!
  8. I have an 08 SEL, regular sound system (no nav) and have driven it 35K+. I also just bought a 10 Mustang GT droptop, with the Shaker 1000 CD -nice ride. This may be nit picking but why oh why didn't FOMOCO put a tuning knob on their radios??? I just put 2900 miles on a vac trip with the Mustangs top down to the coast and back and I like to dial in to local stations. Well I can't, because FOMOCOs 'search' button on the unit will not lock on weak stations. Yeah I have my IPOD and ZUNE and a bunch of CDs, but I also enjoy listening to the local life in the middle of Nebraska or West Virginia. Did they do this to save a couple of bucks?? I haven't checked other mfgs, 'cause I drive FORD because as a retired FORD engineer, I get A plan, but did the tuner knob disappear across the line of other makes??
  9. I have the same problem with my Limited! I don't have a BAMR either. I did notice that I had no resonance issues when the backlight exploded one night (??) and I had to drive a couple of days until it was replaced.
  10. I saw this on one of the accessory sites. It looks like it has a perimeter (wire?) support which allows it to lay over the cargo area. It appears MORE substantial than the flimsy Ford offering. http://www.partscheap.com/2009_Ford_Edge_C...5440-aa-e09.htm Anyone bought this or seen it??
  11. I have a FWD 2007 and have been through two snowy winters. The Continentals and (from what I have heard) Hankook tires are lousy in the snow. Since I replaced them at 20K with Pirelli P6 Four Seasons tires and they are great in the 6 to 10 inch 'dustings' we get up here in the wild north. Even with all the snow, I felt AWD wasn't worth the problems (PTU) and the mileage issues. Replace the factory skins and see the difference.
  12. What?? A Joke?? You mean the Blinker Fluid, the wiper blade sharpener, the Kuhneutson Valve and the Left Handed Metric Screwdriver are not real??? You mean all those glowing reviews aren't real?? Quel désastre!! Next you'll tell us Santa, the Easter Bunny and Google ain't real!!!
  13. The wife just passed 7K miles since Dec 2007. I changed the oil for the second time and did a visual inspection. Not one thing to complain about, and I AM a complainer when I have to be. No leaks, no thumps, bumps, creaks, or groans. Paint is excellent, painted wheels have just a little brake dust, no problems. BAMR slides well, no leaks, and moderate wind noise, but it IS a BAMR! Seats are comfortable, driving is pleasant. No rollback, no unintended acceleration, wheel alignment is fine, tracks well. Tranny shifts well for a 'nothing special' 6 speed. Nav works as intended, Synch works fine with T-Mobile. Wife drives 25 miles round trip city and avg 18-19 MPG. Last 600 mile trip south avg 23-24 mpg. I do not normally like dealers, so I just got my first free oil change at 4K and don't what to see them again. The free oil change was a HARD sell for other services and $$ for 'fees'. Fees on a free oil change?? Sorry, Mr. Dealer, you won't see me soon. So on the whole, I must of got a good one.
  14. Bought ours in Dec 2008. I originally bought it for wife, but she decided she wanted something smaller, so I traded our Mariner for a Milan for her to drive and she loves it. I have over 15K on our Edge, yes I put lots of highway miles on it. Lots of travel to New Mexico and and back. no BAMR, no NAV, just FWD Limited options and ABSOLUTELY NO problems. Have NOT even been to the dealer. I do my own oil changes @ 4K with a synthetic 5W20 blend. No leak irritations, no noise maladies, no seat headrest complaints, no chrome aliments, no clunk grievances, no Sync annoyances, and mileage is acceptable @ 18 MPG all around. Is it perfect?? Would I change some options, Would I wish FOMOCO had offered a better product? Of course. But for my expectation of a CUV to do what I paid it to do and as a base for expectations- since I AM a Ford guy, it has been a good, trouble free vehicle. So- perhaps I have been luck for 15K miles??? We shall see.
  15. I saw many Edge and MKX in Sacramento and up and down I5. Not many in Eureka, though. I think I've seen about 5 or 10 in the past 4 months I have owned mine and been looking.
