  4. Dynamix: The cooling fan and fan control module comes as an assembly. You may be able to find the fan control module itself, but is will cost close to or may exceed the price of a whole assembly, and at that point you may as well replace the entire thing. Good luck.
  5. Here you go. The Magnaflows replace the existing mufflers and are mildly louder than stock, the exhaust has a nice tone to it. Bear in mind that any louder, you would hear the ridiculous shift points of the six speed transmission causing the RPM to vary and hence the exhaust flow and tone. My earliest iteration was a muffler delete with the resonators only. You'll be amazed at how many times the transmission shifts under differing loads. My wife was pissed and my kids started laughing, especially my 16 year old son. After a week or so, when I could no longer come home without every dog in the neighborhood howling, I had the Magnaflows installed. Ah, bliss.. The Magnaflows tuck up into the space of the old mufflers. From the rear, you'll notice that you cant see them drop below the edge of the bumper cover. Magnaflow 11114, going from memory.

  9. Nick: I have an '08 and I installed these. ANSA Silverline Double wall, resonated, oval. P/N XSOR512 I think they fit really nice and look better than the stock round ones. While I was under there, I had Magnaflows installed too. Have fun.
  10. I can't say I've been there...yet. Here is what the manual mentions about the replacement of the high side hose, which matches the one you show from O'Reilly. I'm not clear on why the wiring around the PCM and the purge valve needs to be moved out of the way. Seems like it's all accessible from underneath the car.   11. SaSp, So far the Dorman is working well. I agree with Jared about the connector and that it doesn't quite latch on, but mine hasn't moved. This project was much easier than I expected it would be. Let us know how it goes.

  13. Bobby: I bought a set of these at Harbor Freight. I pushed the edge of the fat tool between the bezel and the bumper where Maus says to push on his picture and the bezel fell out in my hand. To install, it just snaps right in. While you're there, it's really easy to install the HIDs too. Have fun.
  14. hipo, The front is easy, the back [power steering] is a stretchy belt. The manual says you need to access the belts by "raising the car and removing the passenger side splash shield". I can't say that I've done it, but it seems that the front one [AC and alternator] is accessible from the top. I concur with the service manual about the stretchy belt needing to be accessed from below, it seems belt removal and installation procedure requires close access to the affected parts. If you're there for one you may as well replace them both. I would cut the old belts off to save some time. Be sure to buy a stretchy belt install tool with your new stretchy belt! If Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant has a clear or pale yellow color, this indicates higher water content than required. Test the engine coolant freezing point range with the Coolant/Battery Refractometer. The freezing point should be in the range -45°C to -23°C (-50°F to -10°F). If the vehicle is driven in cold climates less than -36°C (-34°F), it may be necessary to increase the coolant concentration to get adequate freeze protection. Recommended coolant concentration is 50/50 ethylene glycol to distilled water. A pale green color indicates incorrect coolant (green in color) may have been added to the system. Use of incorrect (green in color) coolant degrades the corrosion protection of Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant. Flush the system and refill with the correct mixture of distilled water and Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant. NOTE: If Cooling System Stop Leak Pellets are used, darkening of the Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant from yellow to golden tan will occur. Dark brown could indicate a commercially available stop leak may have been used. Flush the system and refill with the correct mixture of distilled water and Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant. A light or reddish brown color indicates that rust may be present in the cooling system. Flush the system and refill with the correct mixture of distilled water and Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant. An iridescent sheen on top of the coolant could indicate a trace of oil is entering the system. For information on engine diagnosis, refer to Section 303-00 . A milky brown color may indicate that engine oil is entering the cooling system. Pressure test the cooling system. Refer to component tests in this section. If engine oil is suspected, the cause of the leak may be internal to the engine. Refer to Section 303- 00 . 2. If the engine coolant appearance is acceptable, test the engine coolant freezing point range with the Coolant/Battery Refractometer. The freezing point should be in the range -45°C to - 23°C (-50°F to -10°F). If the vehicle is driven in cold climates less than -36°C (-34°F), it may be necessary to increase the coolant concentration to get adequate freeze protection. Recommended coolant concentration is 50/50 ethylene glycol to distilled water.  Maximum coolant concentration is 60/40 for cold weather areas.  Minimum coolant concentration is 40/60 for warm weather areas. 3. Adjust coolant range and level if necessary:  If coolant is low, add specified coolant mixture only.  If the engine coolant tests too weak, remove some of the engine coolant and add undiluted engine coolant until the readings are within acceptable levels.  If the engine coolant tests strong, remove some of the engine coolant and add distilled water until the readings are within acceptable levels." thus sayeth the Ford. This is the path the coolant takes through your motor. There is also the heater core that has coolant in it. In the past, I've used a radiator pressure tester to force residual coolant out from the engine. Be careful that you don't over pressurize. The water pump is in an awful location.   17. B dub, It's never a short answer. For you perusal, here are my thoughts on your dilemma. You mention "Engine seems to be running hot". Is your engine overheating?. Use an OBD-II reader to give you the operating temperature of the engine. Auto-zone will let you borrow theirs for free. If you are throwing codes like P0217, P1285, P1299 etc., the PCM will automatically lock out the A/C. Look for an obstruction blocking airflow through the condenser/radiator. An A/C pressure transducer measures the refrigerant pressure and feeds this information to the PCM. If the pressures are too high or too low the PCM will lock out the compressor. These pressures will vary dependent on the cleanliness of the evaporator and condenser heat exchangers. If these surfaces are dirty or plugged with debris, they become inefficient and raise the pressure of the system (dirty condenser) or lower the pressure (dirty evaporator). A failing A/C pressure transducer may also cause intermittent operation. Bear in mind that when you add refrigerant, you may also increase the pressure of the system and risk slugging the compressor with liquid, leading to a seizure. You mention that you "Did some research and cleaned filter". Was the filter really dirty? If may be that the filter allowed some of the dirt to pass through and clog your evaporator, affecting the system pressure. Mine was filthy when I first replaced it. Now I check it every other oil change. I bought the carbon activated filter as a replacement. When I park in the sun, I've learned to close my BAMR cover and use a reflective windshield sunshade to keep the heat out of the car. The Edge is a voluminous car, with a tiny [undersized?] A/C system. It will take a while to extract all the heat from the vehicle's interior if you allow it to bake with all the glass radiating heat into the car. The refrigerant system only holds 21oz of R-134a, not even a liter of refrigerant! The dealer may have allowed the engine to cool down and tested the A/C before the engine came to operating temperature [>205F]. In this case, the PCM would not have locked out the compressor. When you drove it home, the A/C worked until the engine temperature got too high and the compressor locked out. Then the fans came on, or you drove down an long shady hill and the coolant temperature dropped and the PCM allowed the compressor to come on. Then you went up hill, in the sun and the engine temperature went up and the PCM locked out the compressor again. It may be any one of these things. I would look for overheating, dirty condenser first. That can be tested tonight using a drop light shining through the radiator from the engine side. Look through the grill and see how much light comes through. If you don't see any light, start there. Good luck.
  18. Values are in "lb-in" not "lb-ft". Divide "lb-in" by 12 for "lb-ft". Be careful out there.
  19. Dirty condenser coil and possibly radiator. What did the service ticket say the pressures were?
  20. olredhead, I was skeptical about the Kumhos at first. I ran them on my 7 series BMW and they performed as well as the Michelin Pilot Sports. The ASX line best matches the Michelins. I have put Kumhos on my wife's X3 and my daughter's Z3. Great tire for the price.
  21. Cody: The ride is a little stiffer and takes a while to "break in" after they are installed.. The car dropped a little more than 1-1/2". I didn't worry about the clearance since we don't get any snow her in sunny SoCal. You'll need to buy new camber bolts. The handling will improve, but don't expect a 0.97 skidpad.
