  1. Had a little snow, but my Edge had no problem with it.
  2. Thanks for the info Kirby. I've stopped into a recommended car audio installer that sells this line and he's going to give me a number for the system to be installed. I'm still debating on the phone app route or the extended range fob. Too bad you can't do both. Have you had any issues with using the app? I know I've read about past issues with servers being down, complaints about Directed's support and so on. It's too bad that information is so vague - I couldn't even find what it costs for the app service on their site. On a side note - from what I was finally able to learn from my dealer's service department, you can't have a Ford OEM remote (two-way) installed in a Sync/MFT vehicle without some major work being done.
  3. Not sure if anyone else has been trying to find the same information that I have, so I'll throw it out there... I have a '13 Limited with Sync / MFT. I have the factory remote start (standard, big ugly fob). Problem I have is that due to where I have to park, I can't see the vehicle to see if it has actually started when using the factory fob. There have been times when I go out in the morning and find that the remote start didn't work. Generally not a big deal, but can be a pain when there's a heavy frost / ice to deal with. Anyways, have been trying to find if any of the bidirectional (two-way) kits will work as an add-on to the sync/MFT systems. My dealer and their service department have been able to offer absolutely nothing for information about this. The only other option seems to be a third party system that uses cellular connection for control. Reviews I have read don't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling that they will work any better than a factory system - that and the cost involved. Has anyone dealt with this? Detailed information would be appreciated, including (if it can be done) what the pros / cons are. Thank you.
  4. The wrap wasn't too difficult, but a few things to consider: - if you've never used a wrap before, you may screw things up the first time when doing something with complex curves. Make sure you have extra wrap available. - it's suggested to use an alcohol / water mix to clean the surface before applying the wrap. One of the small silver door trim pieces I worked on seemed to lose its glossy finish while the other was okay. Because of this (and the fact that the wrap sticks really well anyways), I'd suggest being very careful when prepping the silver so that the factory finish doesn't come off. I'll probably just use a very mild soap / water mix next time. - to keep oil from your hands off of the plastic, you can wear some type of thin gloves (latex-type exam, etc.). - the center stack pieces have very interesting curves to work with. I ended up using a small vise and cardboard to hold the pieces in place while applying the wrap. Without a way of keeping the piece steady, you might find it to be a challenge. - you don't need very much heat to warm up the wrap. A hair dryer works fine. - when heating / attaching around curves, be careful with how much pressure you use with the tool. In my first attempt using a felt-edged squeegee, I found that I created small lines in the wrap on the inner curve. Probably because the wrap was stretched slightly. Second time around was easier. - don't trim too close to the edge of a surface since cuts can expand easily when heated. Nothing like being 95% done and then seeing silver poking through...
  5. Last night was the first time since I bought my Edge back in June when I was driving home when it was both dark, raining and a lot of oncoming traffic (lights). Even though I have tried to keep everything clean, including high-quality window cleaner, I couldn't believe just how bad the crud on the windshield was. I had noticed that there were spots on the windshield while driving in rain during the day, but driving last night was horrible. With the lights from the other cars, I could barely see the road. Having seen the commercials for the Mothers glass cleaner, I found some at a local auto parts store and used it today. You apply and buff it like a wax - you can actually see and feel the difference on the glass when you use it. You can run a cloth over treated and un-treated areas and feel the difference. Before, I would run the wipers and see all of the marks. Now, the windshield looks clear. Wish I had taken a before / after video to show the difference. If you run your washer / wipers and see marks all over the windshield, this may help to clean things up.
  6. I did go the route of the guy on ebay. I can't complain since the emblems look pretty good. Match the new front emblem with black grille inserts, and it looks so much better than the chrome. Body shop that painted the primed grille inserts screwed up - they were supposed to be Tuxedo Black metallic, but they did Ebony Black instead. Not going to get them to fix their mistake, so I'll do the next best thing: make sure everyone I know doesn't do any business with them. The emblems actually match the Ebony Black pretty well, so I'm happy.
  7. Here are a couple of pictures of the matte black wrap I did a while ago. I still haven't had a chance to get beyond the center stack and upper sections of the door handles yet....
  8. Received and installed my Weathertech floor and cargo mats today - no complaints on the fit or finish at all. Feel more comfortable with winter approaching... Also like how the surface doesn't catch your heel like the ribs in the Ford rubber mat did. Will probably box up all of the factory stuff and store away for later. Thanks again for the info, rkugi.
  9. Thanks for the update, rkugi. Based on your comments / pics, I just placed my order.
  10. I posted essentially the same question here: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/11036-weathertech-or-husky-mats-for-2013-edge-limited/
  11. Hi All, Wondering if anyone has found floor mats that fit correctly in a '13 Limited? Looking for something like DigitalFit, etc. Haven't been able to find out if 2012 and 2013 are the same size or not and neither website lists 2013 models yet. Any suggestions / pics would be great. Thanks.
  12. Great - if you happen to find a solution for the door panels, please post back. I'll do the same. I'm tempted to buy a replacement steering wheel cover and see how the wrap looks. From there, find the time to dig into doing a swap. Haven't had much free time lately ...
  13. I'm in the same situation (2013 Limited; Ruby Red) - don't like the silver so I decided to go with a matte black vinyl. What I have done isn't perfect, but I think it's so much better than the cheesy silver look. Managed to do the same amount as Dmitry as far as parts that I could easily remove for wrapping. Also tried to do one of the lower pieces in place, but wasn't very happy with the results, so I left it factory for now. Would also like to know if anyone finds a way of taking those pieces out without tearing the door apart. I was also thinking about the silver steering shroud, so I started to look into that ... until I found that the switches themselves are snapped into plastic clips on the back of the shroud. I would have thought that the switches would be attached to the wheel itself and the shroud just went over everything. Wishful thinking on my part. Don't think I want to go there... Bought the grille insert kit and having it painted Tuxedo Black. Hopefully will have it installed soon.
