  1. Blitz - Great video link. I may have been wrong or there are two Edge Titanium in Bronze Fire or Ruby Red. The Edge Titanium in Bronze Fire or Ruby Red shown in the Ford B roll video has the Power Liftgate option. Also the Power Liftgate is different than the 2014 Power Liftgate. Instead of me trying to explain, watch the video and note the liftgate support mount points. Also good closeup of speedometer. Couldn't find this video on Ford's media site so we are stuck with the low resolution. 2. Thanks Omar. More information from TestDriveTV. BMW uses adaptive steering too. What I think Sam Haymart has wrong is adaptive steering isn't "a computer and gear motor physically between my steering wheel and my tires". The device is in parallel with your existing steering system and designed to fail safe. 3. Still working on my guess but my raw work is below. I'm going to be off the grid for a few days. FordEdgeForum should have a "Guess the 2.7L Edge Sport horsepower" and give away some vender bling (hats or tee shirts or 2015 Ford Edge Sport with PowerFolding Mirror option). I would enter only if FordEdgeForum agreed the contest was open to residents of Qatar. Omar already posted his reasoning and he makes a lot of valid points to me. Sure it would be an educated guess. I would add that the 2.7L EcoBoost is going to be available with the 3.5L EcoBoost on the 2015 Ford F150 so my guess is the horsepower won't be as close to 365 as many of us would like. Blitz's link stated "By its own admission, Ford is not positioning the 2.7L EcoBoost as the end-all, be-all powerhouse of the lineup, with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine remaining in the lineup as the flagship powerplant. Instead, the 2.7L is being positioned as a highly advanced, fuel-efficient engine that will serve the needs of many F-150 buyers who buy their trucks as a daily driver and occasionally use it to tow and haul but most of the time are looking to get maximum MPG and still have a fun-to-drive experience." 4. From blitz's link: "Ford has not officially released power figures on the new engine, but we visited Dearborn in person to witness the new engine running on an engine dynamometer. While we were prohibited from taking any photos of the dyno display console, we can confidently tell you that it has a peak torque output of well above 300 lb-ft, which, combined with the claimed 700-pound weight loss in the 2015 F-150, should make for a plenty-responsive truck. By its own admission, Ford is not positioning the 2.7L EcoBoost as the end-all, be-all powerhouse of the lineup, with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine remaining in the lineup as the flagship powerplant. Instead, the 2.7L is being positioned as a highly advanced, fuel-efficient engine that will serve the needs of many F-150 buyers who buy their trucks as a daily driver and occasionally use it to tow and haul but most of the time are looking to get maximum MPG and still have a fun-to-drive experience. Ed Waszczenko, the 2.7L EcoBoost's lead engineer, shared some background about the development path this revolutionary engine took from conceptual inception to final production form. With efficiency being the primary development focus from the start, the 2.7L incorporates a variable-displacement oil pump, reverse-flow cooling system, and auto stop-start. However, the biggest difference from the 3.5L engine is the cylinder block design. Whereas the 3.5L has a traditional cast-aluminum block, the 2.7L features a two-piece compacted-graphite-iron (CGI) block and a die-cast aluminum ladder frame forming a stiff block assembly. The choice of CGI for the block material was selected for its strength and light weight, offering the durability of a traditional cast-iron block, with weight comparable to an aluminum block. CGI also has the added advantage of not needing cylinder liners, which are an extra production step necessary with aluminum blocks." 5. Great topic and good link. I think Omar will be interested in the 2.7L EcoBoost. I think we lost him on the PowerFold Mirror option. Let me do some research. Interesting that the 2015 Ford Explorer Sport (3.5L EcoBoost) includes Trailer Tow Package - Class III. Doesn't have much to do this this discussion but I find that interesting. 3.5L EcoBoost: Applications 320 hp (239 kW) @5500 rpm, 400 lb·ft (542 N·m) @2250 rpm 2015- Ford Transit 355 hp (265 kW) @5700 rpm, 350 lb·ft (475 N·m) @3500 rpm 2010–2012 Ford Flex 2010–2012 Lincoln MKS 2010–2012 Lincoln MKT 365 hp (272 kW) @5500 rpm, 350 lb·ft (475 N·m) @1500-5000 rpm 2010– Ford Taurus SHO[43] 2013- Police Interceptor Sedan 2013– Lincoln MKS[44] 2013- Lincoln MKT[45] 365 hp (272 kW) @5500 rpm, 350 lb·ft (475 N·m) @3500 rpm 2013– Ford Explorer Sport[46] 2013– Ford Flex[47] 2014- Ford Police Interceptor Utility 365 hp (272 kW) @5000 rpm, 420 lb·ft (569 N·m) @2500 rpm 2011–2014 Ford F-150[48][49][50] 380 hp (283 kW) @5000 rpm, 460 lb·ft (624 N·m) @2500 rpm 2015- Ford Expedition/Expedition EL 2015- Lincoln Navigator/Navigator L Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_EcoBoost_engine
  6. Blitz - I believe there is a good chance the 2015 Edge will have PowerFold Mirror option. I've seen detailed photo's of (3) 2015 Edges; Edge Sport in White Platinum, Edge Sport in Electric Spice and Edge Titanium in Bronze Fire or Ruby Red Edge. None of those had the PowerFold Mirror option but since all the SUV/CUV that share the driver's door switch assembly has PowerFold Mirrors I have to believe the 2015 Edge will have PowerFold Mirrors as an option. The 2015 Edges we've see thus far just hasn't had the PowerFold Mirror option. None of the (3) 2015 Edges had the Power Lift Gate option either, and none had the trailer towing package. On the Explorer you can tell if trailer towing option is present by the bumper cover. The Escape uses a different driver's door switch assembly and does not have PowerFold Mirrors as an option. I've been wrong as many times as I've been right on this forum so take my opinion for what it is worth. The Fusion shares the same driver's door switch assembly as the Explorer/Edge/Flex but appears in the US, the PowerFold Mirrors are not an option. In Europe, I believe, the Fusion has PowerFold mirrors. pjsockett - Good post, thanks. You can get a good look at the PowerFold Mirror switch in this Ford video. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIxlSa_D_uA[/yt]
  7. Nick - You make a very valid point. I may be wrong about that button. I got my information NOT from Ford but from a forum. I stand by the rest of my information concerning the PowerFold Mirror option. The left button is for the PowerFold Mirror. The icon is a little easier to make out on the low resolution images. Maybe Akirby knows what the switch on the drivers door above the power window button is.
  8. One last post. 9. Baxterdown's Explorer PowerFold Mirror switch image: left button under the circle is the PowerFold Mirror switch. The right button is the heated mirror switch. The two switches on the top are left and right select mirror to adjust.
  10. Blitz - If you go to my first link post #23, baxterdown includes a picture of the Explorer PowerFold Mirror switch. The link is broken, image cannot be found. The image can be seen on my second link. I looked at the images of the few 2015 Ford Edge available for the PowerFold Mirror switch but I didn't see any. Look at my third link and the 2015 Edge Titanium's driver door switch array is very similar to the Explorer driver door switch array with PowerFold Mirrors. I think the few 2015 Edges shown just don't have the PowerFold Mirror option installed but PowerFold Mirrors will be an option. All the guys in the Explorer thread who don't understand why their Explorer Limited don't have PowerFold Mirrors, may not realize the dealer probably could have ordered PowerFold Mirrors with BLISS and not increased sticker price. 11. Blitz - You gave me some hope the folding mirror option make it on the 2015 Ford Edge. Really, makes sense to have the option available since many in the CUV price segment have folding mirror available. Yesterday, I looked at some Ford Edge 2015 photos hoping I could see the switch or a something on the mirrors but I didn't see any telltale clues. On an Explorer the PowerFold Mirror switch is just above driver's power window button/switch. Available PowerFold Mirrors: 2014 Ford F-150 2014 Ford Flex 2015 Ford Explorer On a 2015 Ford Explorer, PowerFold Mirrors need option: BLIS Plus Inflatable Rear-Seatbelt Package On an 2015 Explorer Limited or Sport, ADD BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-traffic Alert [Net Price Change $595] which ADDS BLIS Plus Inflatable Rear-Seatbelt Package which ADDS PowerFold Mirror {total $595] On an 2015 Explorer XLT, ADD BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-traffic Alert [Net Price Change $595] which ADDS BLIS Plus Inflatable Rear-Seatbelt Package which does NOT ADD PowerFold Mirror [total $595] I have to believe the 2015 Ford Edge will have PowerFold Mirror option since the 2015 Edge has the Inflatable Rear-Seatbelt Package.
  12. Akirby - I did not know that. Now the 2016 Edge & MKX topic on this forum make more sense.
  13. Ok, nothing new. "...This explains the midsize, two-row crossover’s place in the Ford lineup between the compact Escape and the larger three-row Explorer. It’s an affluent empty nester’s CUV, though it will be more family oriented when it goes on sale in Europe for the first time next year. Farley, Ford’s marketing, sales and service vice president, says the average middle-class American Edge buyer is willing to spend about ten percentage points more of his or her income for an Edge than for a Fusion sedan.... The 2015 Ford Edge is 3.9 inches longer, at 188.1 inches overall versus the 2011-14 model, with a one-inch increase in wheelbase, to 112.2 inches. Width is down 0.1 inch, to 75.9 inches. It’s 1.6 inches taller, defying crossover dimension trends, at 68.6 inches, and cargo capacity is up seven cubic feet thanks to a longer load floor, though the more rakish D-pillar cuts into cargo space. The trailing arm suspension in back has been replaced with an independent, integral link setup. New coil springs and an “advanced antiroll bar system” result in 20 percent more roll stiffness than the previous model, and greater use of high-strength steel helps increase stiffness and improve noise, vibration, and harshness. The curb weight is about the same as the old model's. The 2015 Ford Edge Sport comes with a black grille, black 21-inch wheels, and the new, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 that will premier in the aluminum 2015 Ford F-150. It’s rated “more than 300 horsepower” in the Edge Sport, with the torque of a midrange V-8. The engine uses compacted graphic iron for its cylinder block, like Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel. Chassis upgrades include larger-diameter monotube dampers and antiroll bars that are 15 percent stiffer than other trim levels. Coil springs are 10 percent thicker, and Ford claims “15 percent to 20 percent better roadholding ability,” though any bit of understeer or oversteer will be blunted by the Edge’s Curve Control, which slows the CUV “efficiently” through a curve (as in the Explorer, the system cannot be turned off)." Source: http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/1406-2015-ford-edge-revealed/#ixzz36B5jrNTU "It’s an affluent empty nester’s CUV, though it will be more family oriented when it goes on sale in Europe for the first time next year." I wonder what family oriented means? I'm leaning toward a Ford Sport in White Platinum. I want to see Electric Spice but I think I would tire of the color. I would love to see the 2015 MKX but probably would still get the Edge Sport.
  14. Blitz - I prefer the Edge Sport as well. Do you think the 2015 MKX will be release at the same time as the Edge? I wish you wouldn't brought up the power mirrors. The would be functional in my garage. Now I will have to miss them.
  15. From some very quick research, the 1 generation MKX did not have power folding mirrors but the other cars in that class does have power folding mirrors. Buick Enclave has the power folding mirrors as a $50 upgrade. I know the MKX, 1 generation had rear heated seats and now rear heated seats are available on the Edge. I don't see why power mirrors won't be available at least on the MKX.
  16. Omar - Being in the Middle East, will your 2nd generation Edges have diesel engines? Which engines do you prefer, diesel or gasoline, ummm petrol?
  17. Interesting that the 1st generation Ford Edge's Memory Seats had 2 presets and the 2nd generation has 3 presets. Not sure if this is new to the 2nd generation Edge but 2 generation Edge can assign a seat position to a FOB such that if you unlock the door using the FOB, the door(s) unlock and the seats will go into a preset position. 19. Hey akirby. I would agree with you on self park, steer and brake collision avoidance system and even LED headlamps. But an 8" to 10" touch screen upgrade? The concept was back in 2012 with introduction of MyFord Touch, not a screen upgrade, IMO. Ford said big screens and lots of them in LA. I knew the touch pads in the back of the Edge concept was a concept. Now if you say, Ford wants the next generation of MyFord Touch, non-Microsoft Sync, OS to be backwards compatible with the 1st generation Edge MyTouch and it is easier and cheaper when all units have the same 8" touchscreen, maybe.
  20. 8" touch screen on the redesigned 2015 Ford Edge?? The 2012 - 2014 Ford Edge had an 8" touch screen. Please be a typo. The Edge concept had a 10" touch screen. Probably not a typo. A central 8-inch LCD touch screen supporting SYNC with MyFord Touch is now available on even more models." 21. I don't have any information on what options the 2015 Edge Sport will miss out on. Here is a list for the 2014 Edge Limited Option you cannot get on a 2014 Edge Sport: Class II Trailer Tow Package with Trailer Sway Control Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Warning High-Intersity Discharge (HID) Headlamps Roof-Rack Side Rails (even if Panoramic Vista Roof is not added) I hope the 2015 Edge Sport will have all the Titanium options available. I can understand Class II Trailer Tow Package with Trailer Sway Control although I need a receiver. At least an option for a factory installed receiver for a bike rack. In researching this post, I found the link below. http://www.ford.com/towingguides/ Ford Towing Guide for the 2014 Ford Edge http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/14FLRV&TT_Edge_Sep11.pdf Here is what I find interesting. On a 2014 Edge Sport, you cannot order Class II Trailer Tow Package with Trailer Sway Control but you can still install a Ford hitch receiver. 2014 Ford Edge Engine: 2.0L I4 EcoBoost® Axle Configuration: FWD Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight (Lbs.): 1,500 Engine: 3.5L V6 Axle Configuration: FWD/AWD Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight (Lbs.): 3,500(1) Engine: 3.7L V6 Axle Configuration: FWD/AWD Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight (Lbs.): 2,000(2) (1) Require Class II Trailer Tow Package. (2) Sport model with 22" wheels. Appears the trailer sway control allows Ford lawyers to list the Edge towing capacity at 3,500 Lbs or the lack of 22" wheels.. Joking about the lawyers. Not sure I would want to tow on a unibody but the 2.7-liter EcoBoost would tempt me to tow. The Edge will be my first unibody.

  24. Blitz - I never seen any information on power folding mirrors for the 2015 concept Edge concept or 2015 production Edge.
  25. Another Ford 2015 Ford Edge video. You can see the fog light appear to have the chrome to LED technology that was on the 2015 Ford Edge concept. The concept used this technology on the turn signals. too which the production model dropped with the LED headlamps. My guess is the MKX will have the LED lights first. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7OlBoMTRsI [yt] [/yt]
