  1. I didn't see the 2015 Edge & MKX and posted this in the 2014 Edge & MKX section, my bad. LA Video: Technology Packed – 2015 Ford Edge Concept: http://www.tflcar.com/2013/11/la-video-technology-packed-2015-ford-edge-concept/ Official Ford media information: https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/2013/11/20/EdgeConcept_callouts.pdf https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/feu/en/news/2013/11/20/ford-edge-concept-previews-new-large-upscale-suv-for-europe.html X-Tomi Design 2015 Ford Edge concept render: http://www.autoevolution.com/news/2015-ford-edge-production-version-rendered-71699.html Lincoln 2015 MKC (Escape) production model: http://www.lincoln.com/crossovers/mkc/reveal/ Check out 2.3 EcoBoost, frameless door glass and the app for the MKC. Is the Ford version of the app on the center iPad in the interior Ford Edge concept images? Ford preps 'aggressive' roll out of start-stop: Can't link to article due to subscription. Google "Ford preps 'aggressive' roll out of start-stop" and click the autonews link. Not sure how much of the concept will make it into production. Some of what I noticed on the concept: + Frameless door glass (Probably on the 2015 production model, frameless door glass is on the announced 2015 Lincoln MKC) This is one of the coolest features that no one is talking about. Appears that the front and rear door vertical windows glass touch. This may not be on the 2015 production Edge. X-Tomi Design 2015 Ford Edge concept render has the normal filler. Hopefully I made sense. + Integrated door handles (Probably NOT on 2015 production model) + LED headlamp/tail lamp (probably no LED headlamps on the 2015 production model) + Turn signals that are part of the chrome (the fog light appear to have the same chrome to LED technology) + Cool, clean interior + 10" touch screen (probably on 2015 production model) + More knobs to aid touch screen + Air curtain for the wheel opening for aerodynamics (According to BMW, 30% of vehicle drag is from the wheels and wheel openings. The inlet around the fog lights appear to be for the air curtain. The Ford Atlas concept uses active shutter on the rims and BMW uses both an air curtain and rims designed to reduce this drag.) + Active grill shutter (carryover from 1 generation Edge but appear to be more integrated shutters) + Adaptive steering (probably on production model. If I understand this technology, at different speeds you have different turning ratios.) + Auto start-stop technology for fuel efficiency (Does Raj Nair, Ford's global product development chief, aggressive rollout of auto start-stop technology across the Ford line include 2015 production Edge?) + Self park in or out of vehicle (probably NOT on 2015 production model) + Steer and brake collision avoidance system (car brakes and turns automatically) probably NOT on 2015 production model, maybe just automatic braking. + 2.3 EcoBoost (probably on the 2015 production model, already announced on the 2015 MKC.) No 2015 Edge engines specified. Outsiders say no V6 Maybe 2.1 EcoBoost and 2.3 EcoBoost? 2013 Escape has 1.6 EcoBoost and 2.0 EcoBoost. - ? speed automatic transmission?

You don't have to turn the wheel as much even for a u turn) + Auto stop/start for fuel efficiency (Ford has said this will be on the production model, aggressive rollout of stop/start technology across Ford line) + Self park in or out of vehicle (probably NOT on 2015 production model) + Steer and brake collision avoidance system (car brakes or turns automatically) probably NOT on 2015 production model, maybe just brake + 2.3 EcoBoost (probably on the 2015 production model, already announced on the 2015 MKC.) 5. BeachMomof2 - I haven't heard of the gas mileage of the 2.3L EcoBoost. I have to believe with all the aerodynamic and start/stop updates to the 2015 Edge, the mileage has to be better than the 2014. Hopefully much better. From what I read, unofficially no V6 in the 2015 Edge. Did you replace your 03 Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 yet?
  6. Blankster - Thanks for starting this thread. Can you fill in any "xx" below? In my opinion, because the 2nd generation Ford Edge is going to be a global release, one Ford y'all, the global release date for a new generation Edge is more complex and the 2014 was adjusted with the 2015 release target date in mind. I may be wrong. From some insiders, "In the United States, the new Edge is expected to go on sale in spring 2015" Blankster ORIGINAL information: 11/11/11 Edge 2013 Order Acceptance 11/14/11 Edge 2013 Production Scheduling Begins 01/12/12 Edge 2013 Production Start up 02/15/12 Edge 2013 Final Orders Due [03/13 Edge 2013 hits the showrooms] 08/23/13 Edge 2013 Final Order Due Date 08/30/13 Edge 2014 Order Acceptance 10/17/13 Edge 2014 Production Scheduling Begins 11/18/13 Edge 2014 Production Start up 11/11/12 [projected] Edge 2014 Order Acceptance (12 months after the 2013 Edge order acceptance date) 08/30/13 [real] Edge 2014 Order Acceptance xx/xx/14 Edge 2014 Production Scheduling Begins xx/xx/14 Edge 2014 Production Start up 08/30/14 [projected] Edge 2015 Order Acceptance (12 months after the 2014 Edge order acceptance date) Also some great new information, videos, and images of the 2015 Ford Edge (concept) from Los Angeles, CA, USA. Some of what I noticed on the concept: Frameless door glass (probably just for the concept) Integrated door handles LED headlamp/tail lamp Turn signals that are part of the chrome (also the fog light appear to have chrome to LED technology too) Cool, clean interior 10" touch screen More knobs to aid touch screen Air curtain for the wheel opening for aerodynamics (According to BMW, 30% of vehicle drag is from the wheels and wheel openings. Active grill shudder (carryover from 1 generation Edge but appear to be more integrated shutters) Adaptive steering Auto stop/start for fuel efficiency Self park in or out of vehicle (I'm not a big fan) Steer and brake collision avoidance system (car brakes or turns automatically) probably just on concept Also, funny how the Los Angeles Ford Edge concept was the same color as BoDevil79 post (CarScoops, Josh rendering). 2015 Ford Edge is similar to 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, I think not. I feel bad for even thinking this when I first seen images of the 2nd generation Ford Edge.

  8. "The new global SUV will be revealed to the world media at the 2013 LA Auto Show before going on sale almost globally by 2015. So why all the mystery about what the new world-wise five-seat crossover will be? It is the 2015 Edge, scheduled for display in LA as lightly dressed as a concept car before going on sale in Summer 2014 all over the world." http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/2015-ford-edgebuzz-grows-ahead-of-la-debut-and-global-sales-ar160754.html Thanks for everyone adding to this thread. Great post BeDevil79. I'm going to buy a new Edge at some point. I'm a little disappointed in the new generation but I need to see the new crossover in person to fully evaluate.
  9. Cellbine - Off topic, but I had to say I really like the look of your Edge. I was checking out your pictures and mods. You have one of the nicest Edges I've seen. Well done. Thanks for all the posts and "how to" HD videos.
  10. http://news.yahoo.com/exclusive-2016-ford-edge-sold-europe-china-sources-164842318.html (August 28, 2013) "DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co expects to sell its Edge midsize crossover utility vehicle in global markets when the car is redesigned in early 2015, two sources familiar with the automaker's plans said on Wednesday. Ford will build versions of the new Edge in North America and China for local customers, according to U.S. automotive suppliers familiar with the program. For the European market, the Edge would be imported from North America and sold in Ford's European showrooms alongside the redesigned S-Max and Galaxy. The Edge, the S-Max and the Galaxy will all share a common architecture, known inside Ford as CD4.2, according to suppliers, and all three are slated to go into production about the same time. In the United States, the new Edge is expected to go on sale in spring 2015 as a 2016 model, supplier said. Neither the new S-Max nor the new Galaxy will be sold in the United States, a Ford spokesman confirmed. Regarding the convergence of the three vehicles on a shared platform, Ford said, "We don't comment on rumor and speculation regarding future products." On Tuesday, Ford previewed a concept version of the new S-Max that will be displayed next month at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The new Edge and the new S-Max have been developed simultaneously, according to U.S. supplier sources, and share the same engineering program code, CD391, used by automakers and suppliers. While their underpinnings are similar, the two vehicles will look different both inside and outside, sources said. The new Edge and the new S-Max "will not be mirror images" of one another, as Ford's Escape and Kuga utility vehicles are, one source said. The 2016 Edge will be wider and taller than the S-Max, but will be fitted with just two rows of seats. The Edge will have more rugged styling cues and be aimed at utility-vehicle buyers in both Europe and the United States. The new S-Max will get three rows of seats and be targeted in Europe toward a different audience, including young families shopping for a multipurpose vehicle." 11. The 2014 Edge will be the same as the 2013 Edge according to Ford media. There are links on page one or two to Ford media releases.
  12. Dan - Off topic but I always wanted to ask you about this. I see some Edge headlamps have an LED ring. Is that your product or Ford's or another vender? drjoe photo shows the LED headlamp ring. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10687-new-headlights-finally-done/?hl=%2Bpost+%2Byour+%2Bmod&do=findComment&comment=96740
  13. Thanks Prinzll. AZ is the perfect lab for White Platinum Tri-Coat White discoloration. Great information. How is the stone interior holding up? Any color change? Thanks again.
  14. Sunset Metallic is on the 2014 Escape and Explorer and probably other 2014 Ford models. My link may work. http://www.ford.com/suvs/explorer/?hptid=fv-suv-rtn-sch-explorer-img
  15. I close to pulling the trigger on a new 2013/14 Ford Edge Limited AWD. Looking at 302a option package, Ingot Silver OR White Platinum Tri-Coat White. Charcoal Black OR Medium Light Stone. I have a few questions. (1) The White Platinum Tri-Coat White looks to me like the plastic has a slightly different shade compared to the rest of the CUV. I'm referring to the bumpers and gas access panel in particular. Does this get worse with UV exposure? (2) Owners thought of Charcoal Black in the hot weather. (I'm in MO for a while. I will get back to NW PA but that is a year or more away). Does the Medium Light Stone discolor/yellow due to the sun or heated seats.Overall opinions of both of my interior choices. (3) I want 302a for collision warning with brake and a few other options. Can someone who has this option please provide some feedback? (4) Any advice would be appreciated. I know about the 750 and think it is best that we keep that off-line so Ford doesn't pull it. Thanks in advanced.
  16. Nice catch Grumzy. Waldo brings up a great points about CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) but something in my gut has me waiting to purchase an Edge till I see what the 2014 has. Hope the incentives are extended. I wish the 20" chrome cad rims were redesigned so either the plastic cover was replaceable or the rims were an AL finish. I went to a dealer and it appeared an employee destroyed two rims moving the Edge back into the area where the new Edges were staged. I just stopped in so not 100% sure he did the damage but he came close the the curb and the rims were good on my last visit, the day before. I still doubt that anything signification changes on the last model year..
  17. I worked as an electrician/process control technician in a plant. We knew what was going on because we couldn't schedule vacation during a shutdown and we updates software and fixed lingering problems during shutdowns. We worked closely with the engineers during a retooling. I didn't work in the auto industry but I'm pretty sure plenty of people in the plant know what is going on. They can't say to protect their jobs. Dingo - Did you really call the plant? That crazy and great.
  18. "Only possible reason I can think of is maybe the 2015 will be a late release and by delaying the 14 model they can lessen that gap. If that makes any sense" Tom - Best explanation so far. Makes perfect sense. I doubt a major tranny or engine change on the last model year of the current generation. I have a case of cold brew on the table ready to UPS to Oakville Canada so maybe we get an answer.

  20. I am very interested in buying a new Ford Edge Limited with option package 302. I've been searching for information on the 2014 and 2015 Edge. Crazy that Blankster's thread is one of the top search results for 2014 Ford Edge. I called Ford yesterday to ask about Omar's links to Ford's media site for the 2014 Ford Edge. I asked how accurate that information was. I said the information appears to have a mistake with ["New colors: Sunset Metallic, Oxford White and Ingot Silver (Edge Sport)"] because Ingot Silver isn't new for 2014 and is available on the 2013 Sport.. The person put me on hold then said the pages that Omar linked to are subject to change till August. Given that the 2013 Ford Edge was released in March 2012 and typically the 2014 would be released about a year later (March 2013), I have a hard time believing the only change for 2014 will be the addition of (1) color, orange. Maybe 2014 Ford Edge won't be a new generation but maybe some other change like (I'm hoping) an eight speed transmission or a faster processor on the nav system. I like the current generation and will probably buy the current generation of Edge. I just want to know what changes the 2014 Edge will have. Guess I wait till August, then maybe January 2014.
