  1. Omar - Great catch. I didn't notice that. I wonder if that is a speaker or microphone or combo. See below. "Edge Sport will be equipped with Active Noise Cancellation technology from Ford to manage and enhance the sound of its powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine. Using three microphones strategically placed throughout the cabin, the system is able to generate opposing sound waves directed through the audio system, enhancing overall cabin ambience." 2. akirby - Exactly. I should have quoted the post. I also thought the Sport model would be called Ford Edge ST (Sport Technologies).
  3. One last post. Ford video showing Ford Edge 2015 Sport and Titanium. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sbeXbf6rt4 [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sbeXbf6rt4[/yt]
  4. Blitz - The color may be called Electric Spice but I like Electric Sand better. Wasn't there a Spice Girl called Electric Spice ? The picture of the Ford Edge with black rims appears to be the Sport model. Source: http://www.ford.com/crossovers/edge/2015/?fmccmp=lp-future-top-hp-edge BPM - I think Ford did a great job with the rear end. Only change, I wish they located the rear wiper under the rear spoiler away from the snow and ice buildup. Lexus has the wiper under the rear spoiler. But don't get me started on the front headlights.
  5. Some more links showing the 2015 Ford Edge. http://www.ford.com/crossovers/edge/2015/?fmccmp=lp-future-top-hp-edge http://www.carscoops.com/2014/06/2015-ford-edge-gets-better-looks-and.html And 2015 Sport VS 2014 Limited?
  6. Below is my post on what I and other observed on the concept. NO + Frameless door glass (Probably on the 2015 production model, frameless door glass is on the announced 2015 Lincoln MKC) This is one of the coolest features that no one is talking about. Appears that the front and rear door vertical windows glass touch. This may not be on the 2015 production Edge. X-Tomi Design 2015 Ford Edge concept render has the normal filler. Hopefully I made sense. NO + Integrated door handles (Probably NOT on 2015 production model) NO + LED headlamp/tail lamp (probably no LED headlamps on the 2015 production model) YES on fog lights + Turn signals that are part of the chrome (the fog light appear to have the same chrome to LED technology) YES + Cool, clean interior NO 8" + 10" touch screen (probably on 2015 production model) YES + More knobs to aid touch screen YES + Air curtain for the wheel opening for aerodynamics (According to BMW, 30% of vehicle drag is from the wheels and wheel openings. The inlet around the fog lights appear to be for the air curtain. The Ford Atlas concept uses active shutter on the rims and BMW uses both an air curtain and rims designed to reduce this drag.) YES + Active grill shutter (carryover from 1 generation Edge but appear to be more integrated shutters) YES + Adaptive steering (probably on production model. If I understand this technology, at different speeds you have different turning ratios.) YES + Auto start-stop technology for fuel efficiency (Does Raj Nair, Ford's global product development chief, aggressive rollout of auto start-stop technology across the Ford line include 2015 production Edge?) NO + Self park in or out of vehicle (probably NOT on 2015 production model) NO + Steer and brake collision avoidance system (car brakes and turns automatically) probably NOT on 2015 production model, maybe just automatic braking. YES + 2.3 EcoBoost (probably on the 2015 production model, already announced on the 2015 MKC.) No 2015 Edge engines specified. Outsiders say no V6 Maybe 2.1 EcoBoost and 2.3 EcoBoost? 2013 Escape has 1.6 EcoBoost and 2.0 EcoBoost. I really wanted to see the frameless door glass but I just realized this was never going to happen. Where would Ford put the keyless entry?. Overall I like the production model. May wait for the 2016 or buy late in the 2015 run. I like the Sport model.
  7. My first thought was to buy a 1st generation Ford Edge when the 2nd generation was on the lots. Grab a deal. Appears you got an great deal and didn't have to wait. I fell in love with the 2nd generation and will probably buy 2 generation Edge 4 or 5 months after they are on the lots.
  8. I'm not sure if the intake for the air curtain is the fog ligh or the inlet below the fog light. If I had to guess I would guess below the fog light.
  9. Robert - I'm with you. I think it is a safe bet to say 2.0 L and 2.3 L EcoBoost. Has anyone heard or think the production Edge will be revealed at the North American Auto Show in Detroit, January 13? WWWPerfA_ZN0W, I on the outside looking in on the triumvirate. I had to lookup triumvirate. Thanks. I just want to put it out there that I follow orders very well.
  10. For the 3 people that read this board, here is a great link that you can see the 2015 Edge Concept up close and see the frameless glass. Also appear the 2013 North American Auto Show in Detroit may have the production model. http://cnettv.cnet.com/ford-edge-concept/9742-1_53-50159658.html
  11. I noticed the paddle shifters too. Not too sure what from the concept makes it into production, especially the concept's interior. Currently, only the Ford Edge Sport has the paddle shifters, correct? I would love to see an upgrade from the 6-speed transmission too. I guess I want a lot and Ford has to save some features for the Sport model. Couldn't link directly to the picture of the paddle shifter. It is image 20/23. http://www.carscoops.com/2013/11/new-ford-edge-concept-is-couple-of.html
  12. I posted some ideas on social.ford.com I only say this because if you agree with the idea and vote on it, Ford may consider the idea. I get no money, I really would like to see this idea implemented because I think they would add to the product. If the spare tire was offset, I could store some EDC tools. Other could use the extra space for other items. http://social.ford.com | Your ideas | Convenience and Safety Here is one of my ideas 2015 Ford Edge spare tire placement Ford Edge 2015: Please consider locating the spare tire offset to one side to allow for more storage. So instead of about 4" on each side with the spare located in the center, if the spare was located offset to the left, I would have 1" on the left and 7" on the right. I am guessing on the amount of space.
  13. blankster - I know you caught some flak for saying the 2014 Edge will be a short run but I agree with you based the information available.
  14. I think the 2015 Ford Mustang reveal today allows us for some takeaways. I read from an outsider that the 2015 Production Edge will be shown at the North American Auto Show in Detroit. I'm thinking of traveling to Detroit to attend. I think the 2015 Ford Edge will share the antenna of the Mustang hard top. Hopefully of the interior will share the same quality, real aluminum and other high end features of the Mustang. No LED headlamps. I don't thinks any of us thought we would see LED headlamps in 2015. The 2015 Ford Edge hood will be the same as the concept hood, shares styling with the 2015 Mustang. Frameless glass will be on the 2015 Ford Edge, hopefully the same as what is on the Ford Edge concept. Probably the 2.3 EcoBoost. I think we'll see the 2015 Edge in the summer to fall. http://blog.cjponyparts.com/2013/11/2015-mustang-revealed/ http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/features/2015-ford-mustang-first-look.html
  15. "At this week's Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford unveiled its new Edge Concept, which will probably be very similar to the production Edge seen in 2015 as a 2016 model -- and I think it will set the model's record sales in the U.S. when it's launched. Here's why." I'm a little confused by this statement. So no model year 2015 Ford Edge or the 2015 will be the last year of the 1st generation Edge? I thought the Ford Edge 2nd generation was going to be a 2015 model release in late 2014. Daniel Miller is the only person I could find reporting the Edge will debut in 2015 as a 2016 model. Hopefully/probably Daniel is mistaken. Daniel isn't a car guy, he has a marketing background.
  16. Air curtain explained using BMW. I couldn't find any Ford literature. The below link isn't direct to the air curtain. The link explains all BMW's aerodynamic technologies. Air vent control (same/similar to Ford's active shutters) Aero wheel rims Air curtain (same/similar to Ford's air curtain) http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/technology/efficientdynamics/phase_2/technology/aerodynamics.html I wonder if the 2015 Edge concept rims are designed to reduce drag. I don't understand why the rims are not designed to reduce drag unless BMW has a tight patent on the reduced drag rim technology. I stated in a previous post that I thought the air curtain inlet was around the fog light but upon further inspection I believe the inlet to be below the fog light.
  17. Ford's adaptive steeping explained. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4B-VDh19wQ Useful for video: 120 KPH = ~75 MPH 20 KPH = ~12 MPH 5 KMP = ~3 MPH BMW uses active steering which appears to be similar to Ford's adaptive steering. BMW has been using active steering for a few years. An image of this video is shown when Raj Nair (Ford's global product development chief) is presenting the 2015 Edge concept. The image is on the active media wall behind Raj.
  18. 2.0L ECOBOOST I-4 [2014 Edge & Escape] 240 HP @ 5,500 rpm 270 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm FWD: 21 city / 30 highway / 24 combined 2.3L ECOBOOST I-4 [2015 MKC & IMO 2015 Edge] (new engine, under development) 275 HP @ 5,500 rpm 300 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm FWD: ? city / ? hwy / ? combined AWD: ? city / ? hwy / ? combined 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 [2014 Edge] 285 HP @ 5,500 rpm 253 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm FWD: 19 city / 27 hwy / 22 combined AWD: 18 city / 25 hwy / 21 combined 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 [2014 Edge Sport & 2014 MKX] 305 HP @ 5,500 rpm 280 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm FWD: 18 city / 26 hwy / 21 combined AWD: 17 city / 23 hwy / 19 combined IMO = in my opinion The 2.3L EcoBoost is too similar in specs to the 3.5L so IMO in reference to the Edge, the 3.5L goes away in 2015. The 2015 Ford Edge will be lighter than the 2014 and should have better aerodynamics. "The all-new 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 powertrain. Is available exclusively in the 2015 MKC." "The 2.3L EcoBoost pairs three brilliant technologies — turbocharging, direct injection and twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) — that give this powertrain the feel of a V6 in a smaller, efficient package." http://www.ford.com/crossovers/edge/specifications/engine/ http://www.lincoln.com/crossovers/mkc/reveal/ http://www.greencarcongress.com/2013/11/20131118-mkc.html
  19. Here is a good image of the gauges on the 2015 Edge concept. I understand your point. http://www.netcarshow.com/ford/2013-edge_concept/1600x1200/wallpaper_0b.htm http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-edge-concept-la-2013/full/#photo-1577666 I was expecting the dash to be fully digital since the One Ford philosophy. I thought it would make it easier to have english and metric using the same display. Probably not a big deal for Ford to have multiple gauges sets.
  20. I guess I'm in the minority in thinking the design team/craftsmen and craftswomen did an incredible job with the 2nd generation Edge concept. They exceeded my exceptions. I even went and looked at the Jeep Cherokee and Santa Fe. The Edge concept is different and unique. The Jeep Cherokee nor Santa Fe match the technology of the Edge cross-over. The Jeep Cherokee has much better features for off-road but that is an apple/orange comparison. I've out grown going off-road. Jeep's active drive and lock is intriguing although I typically bought used when I went off-road (full size Bronco and two 4Runners). To me the Santa Fe isn't feature rich or even a unique look. The 2015 Ford Edge concept is what Hyundai will be copying in the future. The Edge concept has a different look and has cutting edge technology. I'm hoping to see most of the new features on the production model. Time will tell. This is what the current Santa Fe lists for technology: Standard Hillstart Assist Control (HAC) Seats That Fight Stains Blue Link Proximity Key Entry With Push Button Start Dual Automatic Temperature Control Driver Selectable Steering Mode (DSSM) https://www.hyundaiusa.com/santa-fe-sport/technology.aspx
  21. Cellbine - Did a black widow spider bite your Ford Edge? Your Edge is slowly turning into the dark Edge. Very cool and unique look.
  22. I'm with you two. I need to have the ability to carry my canoe or my brother's kayaks. Really want to get the BAMR roof. I'm hopeful since the 2013 Escape can be equipped with both the roof cross bars and power panoramic vista roof.
