  1. No, I was driving at the time. That is why I am waiting to see if it becomes as issue before I do anything.
  2. Unfortunetely not. The location was in Grapevine, TX, a suburb north of the DFW airport in Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX.
  3. I also have Sirius without nav. The same thing has happened to me once. Last week I was listening to Sat and the radio just shut off with no one touching it. Turned it back on and it has been just fine. Just waiting to see if continues to happen before I say anything to Ford about it.
  4. Discount Tire has the Gorilla wheel locks for $20.00 to $25.00. I went last Saturday to Discount Tire to put a set on my 18" OEM rims and they were having a one day sale on the Gorilla wheel locks for $5.00!!!! Of course the store I went to did not have the correct ones in stock. They let me pay for them there and I went to a different location about 5 miles in the opposite direction to pick them up. When I got there, they even installed them for me. Sure beats the $45.00 price Ford wanted for wheel locks.

akirby brought up a good point, did the PCM update just increase the idle speed or do something entirely different. I would not think that the torque converter could be adjusted with a computer program. Maybe they reprogrammed the transmission to tighten the bands or slip clutches. Did the Ford tech tell you what they did? Could one imagine the possibilities if the transmission and/or the torque converter were totally programmable. My old school guess is that is still several years away. My first thought when you mentioned a TSB on this problem, was that they would have to pull the transmission or something like that. My first oil change is coming up at the end of this month with a $9.99 coupon from my ford dealer. I will probably have them correct this glitch then.

Interesting?? If that be the case, I wonder what else could be modified by flashing the PCM? Have you tested it out to see if the Edge still rolls back?
  7. Is anyone aware of any promotions that SportWing is currently doing to get a discount? I noticed that they have a promotion code entry when you place an order.

PrinzII Have you taken your Edge in to correct the torque converter yet?
  9. Bulldog Welcome!! As long as you are happy with your purchase, if does not matter what you paid for the vehicle. I just purchased mine on 12/31/07. If I would have waited until now, I could have gotten even a better deal. Hind sight is always 20/20, but I have no regrets, and very happy with my choice. I love black vehicles. The wife's two Explorers were black and my Ranger was black as well. Sure extra work is required to keep the color up, but they always looked great when clean. After 13 years, I decided that it was time for a change. Good luck!
  10. Abrannan19 What price range were you thinking about? You can PM me if you prefer. Thanks
  11. justinkeats I upgraded to the LG 8550 chocolate phone in January. I works perfectly with Sync. You might want to check out this pdf file from Syncmyride.com on bluetooth phone that Ford has checked out. It does not mean that other phones will not work, just shows the ones that have been checked out. blue tooth phones
  12. I have been using Sync almost everyday since purchasing my new 2008 edge on 12/31/07. Everyone that I have talked to through Synce have said that everything sounds good with no problems. I tended to talk louder when using Synce at first. The wife had to remind me to talk softer. she says that she can even hear me when I am whispering. So far, I have been very happy with Sync. I am using the new Chocolate from Verizon. Sync even worked with my old Samsung A-950. It was bluetooth, but Sync would not download my contact list. It was no fun to have to remember all the phone numbers to tell Sync with number to dial.
  13. Did anyone else notice the new TV commerial about the NEW???? 2009 Nissan Murano during the Super Bowl last night? To me it looks like they copied the Ford Edge with their own versions of the Vista Roof and Sync.
  14. Nice selections to choose from at California Car Covers. Looks like a couple of them might work just fine. Thanks!
  15. Does anyone have a suggestion on temp seat covers that could be used during the week and easily removed on the weekends? The reason I am asking is that my new 2008 Edge has charcoal leather seats with white stitching. I work during the week for a international delivery service driving a package car picking up packages. Sometimes my uniform gets a little dirtier than I would like, and I do not want to mess up the white stitching on the seats. I have thought about getting a large beach towl (black if possible) and having the daughter sew in some elastic. Hopefully it could then easily be put on or removed without much trouble. Thanks for any suggestions.
  16. bbf2530 Thanks for your reply. Your thoughts are well taken, but do not take my lack of knowledge on this product and writing out my wishful thoughts as an inexperienced teenager. I have been driving since the 70's and owned numerous cars, trucks and suv's. These vehicles were well maintained and every gasoline fill up was recorded. I do not wish to open up a can of worms discussing fuel economy and/or conspiracy theories about such things. My own personal experience shows me that the vehicles that I owned from the 90's did better on fuel ecomony than the ones that I have purchased the past couple of years. Yes, they were the same type of vehicles, so I am comparing apples to apples. Anything that can be done to improve that would be a blessing IMO. Like gluman stated above, it would be foolish to think that a custom tune would turn the Edge into a hot rod street demon. If I had wanted that I would have bought the Ford Mustang or the Dodge Charger. (Yes, I had considered both of them, but decided to stay practical for the family.) That is what these forums are all about, to discuss and learn from other fellow owners about what is working for them. By looking at the pros and cons, one can make a logical decision for them. Please keep post on this topic going. Based on the number of views for this, it seems that I am not the only person interested.
  17. This sounds very interesting. With the media reports of $4.00 per gallon for gasoline by summer, it would not take to much to save 100 gallons of fuel IMO. I purchased a 2008 SEL FW Ford Edge (Ice Blue)on 12/31/07. Just turned 500 miles this week. First tank of gas (from dealership) I figured to be 20.0 MPG. The computer calculated 19.2 MPG. Not bad for city driving in DFW, TX. I know absolutely nothing about performance tunes other that what I have read in this post. Would it be better to wait until the motor has broken in at about 5000 miles to change the tunes or go ahead and do it now? Fred posted in the first post that he has done extensive testing on the higher octane performance tunes. Has anyone checked out the fuel ecomomy and performance tunes on the 87 octane yet? I know that capnkirk52 stated 3mpg increase on his performance tune, but 5+ mpg on the economy tune would rack up fuel savings in a hurry. How do these tunes affect overall life of the motor and transmission? My first impression would be that the tunes would decrease the life of the motor and transmission, but then again I have never had any experience in this.
