  1. Attached are the mileage spreadsheets that I have maintained on my 2008 SEL. The lifetime mileage is 21.4 mpg. That includes city, highway and long trips. The yearly spreadsheets shows that computer mileage versus actual (hand calcuated) mileage on each fillup. The computer mileage has never been close. The best mileage was 30mpg taken two months ago. The worst mileage was 18.2 on the second tank in winter. Not bad for a vehicle that weighs over 4000 pounds. I agree with everyone else that mileage goes south in a hurry when you are in city traffic, bumper to bumper, stop light to stop light with the AC on. Highway travel is great. The tank with 30mpg included a fully loaded Edge with the AC on. edge summary.doc edge 2008.doc edge 2009.doc edge 2010.doc
  2. My 2008 SEL has leather seats. It is my daily driver. The wife and I are both 5'9" tall. This is the most comfortable car seats we have had in any car that we have owned. We have taken long car rides (5+hrs) and still feel good. Now the wife's 2007 Camry is a different matter. After long car rides, both of us feel like we have been riding in a buckboard covered wagon. We test drove a 2009 SEL with cloth seats and neither one of us liked the feel or comfort of them. It seemed like completely different seats even though they were identical to my 2008 SEL seats except for being cloth. I guess the leather made all the difference. As others have stated, it is all a matter of preference and getting the seat adjusted to ones liking.
  3. Here is a link to pictures of my 1995 Ford Ranger truck http://radicon.net/truck/ This was my daily driver until I purchased my 2008 Ford Edge seen in the background. My 18yr old daugher is driving it now. I am constantly being asked to sell the truck, but have no plans to. The only product that I have used on this truck until now is called AutoMagic used by professional detailers in my area. This time I used a new product called Ultima from http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ I am pleased how it turned out considering the truck has not been waxed and detailed in almost 3 years! Yes the paint is all original except for the bed on the drivers side of the truck. 8 years ago, someone decided that because they had a stop sign, I must have one and hit me right behind the rear wheels. The truck used to be garaged kept until I got the Edge. Now I just need a 4 car garage. One for each current vehicle and a new 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT that I can't afford.
  4. I was able to pair my daughter's Moto Droid up with no problems. She even downloaded her phone book. I did not have to delete any phones from the memory either. I have my BB Storm as the primary, as well as the wife's phone the LG Dare. I am still on version Sync 1.1 also. I guess I just got lucky.
  5. Are you still using your tuner on your 07 Edge? If so, then why are you wanting to sell it as you would not be able to convert back.
  6. just got off the phone with Steeda sales dept. I ordered their new Petron Fricton reducer oil additive. I asked the sales rep on when the cold air kit for the Edge was to be released. He told me that steeda was planning on releasing the cold air kit for the Edge the first part of January 2009. Stay tuned............... P.S. I will start a new thread on the Petron Fricton reducer after I have tested it out on our Christmas trip next week and let you all know how and if it works as they say.
  7. It seems like forever. I keep checking the website everyday, but no luck. Wonder what the delay is? Looking forward to see what the final dyno specs are. It would be nice if they showed dyno specs on each grade of gasoine with and without CAI.
  8. I second that question. I am curious as well.
  9. Check out this topic from earlier this year. heat shield for front window
  10. I agree, way toooooo long! Did they say anything about using carbon fiber for the air tube instead of steel? I noticed that Steeda offers both for the Mustang.
  11. I saw that info on Steeda's cai kits for the mustang. Not surprized if they say the same thing on the edge. I don't know when they will release the cai for the edge. I sent an email a week ago asking for an update on the cai, but no answer! I have asked for info on their tunes for the edge, but they provided no additional info then what you stated above. I almost purchased a tuner from Evolution, but I didn't want to have to pay for additional tunes to account for the cai at a later date.
  12. Just checked my 2008 SEL out at lunch. Chimes 3x when lift gate stops at fully open. Chimes 3x just before the lift gate closes.
  13. Checked in with Steeda by email on Wednesday. Their reply on the cold air kit was "coming soon"......................?
  14. I noticed that they are going to offer a cargo accessary package (#471) that includes a rear cargo shade, cargo floor protector AND a rear bumper step protector. If wonder if this will be available for sale seperately for 2007 and 2008 owners?
  15. I agree that this does look nice. I too am not big on the wood look, but it does class up the interior look of the Edge. I really like that the kit covers up the silver finish on the ac vents. The glare off these vents are really noticable at times for me. I noticed that their website offers other finishes besides wood. Maybe something to consider later. For me, the steeda cold air kit is the first major mod, then custom exhuast, then custom tune.
  16. Just received an email this morning from Steeda. Here is what they said. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Alonzo [mailto:jim@steeda.com] Sent: Monday, July 28, 2008 7:20 AM To: Rodney Subject: RE: Cold air kit not yet, but I did sneak into manufacturing and its almost done. besides we also have a bunch of things we are making for the edge. I'll keep you updated and the release date.. Thanks Jim.
  17. Just a quick update. I had to put this mod on hold. My 16yr old daugher is driving my 95 Ford Ranger and it needed new tires. Couldn't let her run on bald tires. The Ranger tends to be a little skiddish because it is so light weight, so it needs all of the good tire rubber it can get. My plan is to still do this later this year (if I can afford the gas to drive it). I am wanting to put a K&N cold air intake on the Edge when I do the exhaust, but you all know that does not exist yet. Funny thing is that K&N offers a cold air intake on my wife's 2007 2.4L Toyota Camry. Go Figure!!! Doesn't anyone on this forum know someone that knows someone that works for K&N so that we can twist their arm!!!!!
  18. Went to my local muffler shop today to have them look at upgrading the exhaust on my 08 SEL fwd. Kinney's Muffler shop is one of the premier muffler shops in the DFW area. This was the first Edge that they have looked at. I told them about what some of you on the forum have done and told them that I was not looking for anything loud. Don't take this wrong, it is just my opinion, but I do not like what most people have done to their 4 and 6 cylinder vehicles. Most of them sound like a chainsaw or a bumble bee to me. I grew up being around 8 cylinder vehicles so almost anything else sounds off to me. After looking at it under the lift, they told me that it would not work to do a true duel exhaust system because of the way Ford designed it. Their suggestion was to start after the flex joint and go straight back with a new resonater and the stock size of 2-1/4 in pipe. Then y out to 2 vortex mufflers and use the stock chrome tips that came on the Edge from the factory. This would remove all of the bends that is on the stock exhaust, smooth out the flow and reduce the back pressure. The sound level would just be a little louder than stock. It would retain the stock look on the outside. Cost $575.00 The expected gain in HP would be around 8 to 10 HP. The estimated increase in mileage would be 1 to 2 mpg. If I wanted to go to go to 2-1/2 inch pipe after the flex joint and y out to 2-1/4 inch vortex mufflers and tips, the cost would be about $100.00 more. This would decrease the back pressure more, but the sound would be louder. I have not done this yet, but I thought that I would get your opinions on this. I am considering about talking to them to do a video on this custom job as it would be the first Edge that they have done and have them put it on their website. They have some cool videos of some of their custom jobs with sound and everything. I thought this might be a big help to any of you who might be considering this as well.
  19. Otto Man, my understanding from the Sirius website is that the $2.99 per month CD-quality sound is for the internet radio only. Maybe I am wrong. I am still on my six month free service. I have audio cutouts all of the time when going under overpasses and such. I am wondering if it was possible to put a higher gain sat antenna on the Edge? Is so, where could one be purchased and how much?
  20. Just filled my Edge this morning with 4751 miles on it. Hand calculation was 21.8 mpg. Computer calculation was 22.4 mpg. About 80% of my driving is what I consider city freeway driving running at 60mph. For the most part I have been babying the Edge. I have always had a lead foot driving 70 to 80mph. With speeding tickets costs going through the roof here in Texas, I decided to make a conserted effort to drive at a more reasonable speed. I do like the spunk that the Edge has as it responds very well when needed. Took a 700 mile road trip on Easter weekend. Set the cruise on 70 and left it there. Had a head wind going up and a slight tail wind coming back. The edge got 21.9 going up and 25.9 coming back (hand calculation) with an average of 23.6mpg. I expect to do better that that on the next trip. The only option for gasoline here is the 10% ethonal blend year round. No summer and winter blends anymore. I would love to burn a couple of tanks of regular unleaded fuel. I know that the mpg would go up 1 to 2 mpg. I am still considering purchasing the SCT tuner discussed in another thread on this forum. Just waiting for more feedback from other Edge owners on that thread before making that decision.
  21. My 2008 SEL has the power liftgate. It has a button on the front dash as well as the button on the keyfob. Plus it has the button in the rear cargo area as well
  22. I purchased one each of these heatshields for my 2008 Edge and 2007 Camry about a month ago. Love them! Perfect fit in both vehicles. I am hopeful that these will last longer then the cheap ones from Walmart.
  23. The lowest that I have run it down to so far is 2 miles remaining. That fill-up took 17.8 gallons. That is the most that I have put in so far. So maybe Akirby is correct that there is one gallon remaining in tank when readout says zero.
