Hi. I would like to know what version of VCM works with Ford Edge 2013. Information on the web makes me think that some VCMs only work with models up to 2012. I need VCM and IDS software in order to activate the remote start function. The only local dealer charges too much for activating the function, so I'm considering if I should buy a used VCM and do it myself. Then I can keep it for future diagnostics or sell it. What options do I have, given that I have a 2013 Edge? Can you clarify this for me? Rsucre

The car came with A3 (US/CAN) and the car is from local Panama dealer. Makes me think official SD card is not available for Panama. Perhaps somebody knows of the format of the map file some kind of standard that can be obtained? Even from third party...

Hi, I'm a new Ford Edge 2013 owner. My question is if here is a way to load international maps (i.e. central america, Panama, Colombia) into MFT/Sync. Are the maps in a standard format? Perhaps new maps can be purchased? Rimsky

The only way to activate this is using Ford VCM IDS? My local dealer (I'm in Central America) wants to charge way too much (close to the price of the module itself) for activation. Are there any alternative ways? I even thought about buying a used or Chinese (probably clone) VCM IDS kit on eBay. Do you think that car diagnostic shops could have the VCM IDS?

Thank you Omar. Mine will come with a basic (not perimeter) alarm. So I think it should come with the hood switch. Thank you.

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. Mine does not come with the remote start pre-installed. I plan to install the remote start myself and take it back to the dealership for activation. I just would like to know if I also have to order the hood switch or not. I notice that some Edges come with the hood switch and some don't. And as far as I know, none if them had remote start. Any other reason (feature, package) that would include it or for sure mine won't have it if it does not have the remote start preinstalled?

Hi. I noticed that some 2013 Edges come with the hood switch included and others don't. Anybody knows what feature/package/option determines that? I ordered a SEL, FWD, 3.5L TiVCT V6, Automatic Transmission with equipment group 205A and wonder if it will come with the hood switch installed or not. I plan to install the Remote Start series 200 kit and the hood switch is required. Thanks.

Hi. I'm considering the Remote Start Kit Series 200 from Ford that comes with perimeter security for my Edge SEL 2013. The question I have is if with that kit installed I would be able to stop using the factory FOB (key) at all and always use the FOB that comes with the kit. I imagine it would be a little bulky to carry both FOBs... Perhaps I can hide the factory FOB inside the car in case that I have any issue (dead battery, etc.) with the Remote Start FOB (and use the door keypad to open the car). What would be the best thing to do to avoid having to carry both FOBs?
