  1. Does anyone know how to properly remove the instrument cluster on the 2011-14 Edge's? I'm trying to get access to the GPS antenna because I need to make a splice for the compass to work properly on my 8" screen conversion. A diagram or instructions would be awesome. I've looked online and have been able to find some diagrams but it doesn't show how to remove the parts. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  2. Yep that's it. I found it on tascaparts.com. Am I correct to say I just wire it with the correct pins into my 54 pin APIM cable? Thanks
  3. That would be great and if it has a part number on the wire. Thanks
  4. Yes I found that document while searching. I knew the wpt-1239 is used for sync 3 hubs but I can't afford to go with sync 3 right now. I know the sync 2 hub is a 12 cavity pin, but its just narrowing down if there is a pigtail kit for it. There are so many 12 cavity pigtails in that PDF that I'm not sure which one is correct. I really hope someone has an answer. Thanks
  5. Thanks for the reply candurin. I'm familiar with all of those sites and check often. I was hoping that Ford just made a pigtail kit. The connectors on the fusion are mostly different than on the Edge. Is there not a pigtail kit direct from Ford for that module? Thanks
  6. I wanted to know if Ford provided a pigtail kit for the Sync 2 USB media hub that sits in the center console on factory equipped Edges with MFT. My 2014 Edge has the base hub with the Auxiliary line in and USB port. I'm wanting to swap out the hub so I can spice in to use the sd card for navigation since I converted to the 8" screen. I have everything working except the replacement USB hub. I've done some searching online and found two pigtail kits but I'm not sure if they are compatible or correct. WPT-930 9U2Z-14S411-DA and WPT-1047 9U2Z-14S411-ZA Can someone please let me know if there is a pigtail kit to wire the hub? I attached a picture of the hub for reference. Thank you.
  7. So I managed to get a hold of a factory harness from a 2011 Ford Edge on Ebay. I have a 2014 Edge SEL . From what I can tell so far, everything looks to be plug n play. I have recently converted my 4" screen to the 8" Sync 2 and everything works flawlessly except for navigation because I haven't spliced into the CAN bus. So here is my question - Would the factory harness from the 2011 Edge work on my 2014? Did Ford make any harness changes in between those years? I pulled the window sticker on the 2011 and noticed that it had ambient lighting and BLIS. Also, it is an SEL model just like mine. I know for certain that the radio connections and a/c control panel connector are identical and would work just fine. It would be great if I could use the factory harness so I don't have to splice wires. I realize that BLIS and ambient lighting wouldn't work because my Edge didn't include those. I primarily won't to get the compass working for navigation. If anyone could possibly reach out and provide an answer I would greatly appreciate it. I can also provide pics if anyone would like to see the harness.
  8. Hi all, 2014 SEL with 28,000 miles. I live in Oklahoma and there are quite a few dirt/gravel roads still around. Our daycare center is on a dirt/gravel road. I have noticed recently that there is a very faint rattle noise that sounds like it is coming from under the steering column while driving down the road. It only seems to do this on this type of road or really bumpy roads. It doesn't matter what speed I am going. I tend to drive around 20-25 mph on the dirt road. I really hate driving on this road but it's our best option for daycare center. I baby my Edge and I am concerned this may develop into something bigger if I disregard it. I also take it in on regular basis for oil changes, etc. Should I take it into the dealer? I have an extended warranty on the car. Any idea what this odd sound might be? Thanks for any help/suggestions.
  9. Could anyone kindly post a wiring diagram for a 2014 edge apim with factory my ford touch? I'm doing a conversion and want to be absolutely sure the wiring is correct. Thanks
  10. enigma-2 Would this still match up properly since this was for a 2008 Explorer? I would guess Ford may have changed wiring since from so long ago. Thanks for your help.
  11. Could anybody kindly post or point me in the right direction for a wiring diagram of a 2011-2014 Ford Edge Sync APIM module? I'm going to start a custom harness to convert from the 4" screen to the 8" MFT screen. I basically just need a diagram that has the pin locations so I know what can be moved over. Infotainment.com has a full plug n play kit on their site but it's out of my price range. This link has more info about someone that successfully did the conversion on an F-150 below. https://www.f150forum.com/f38/how-upgrade-4-2-sync-8-mft-360583/ I already bought a MFT screen from a 2011 Edge that I plan to use. By the way, my Edge is a 2014 SEL with factory backup camera and dual climate. If anyone could post this info I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
  12. Does anyone have a diagram or any insight on how to remove a power liftgate for a 2014 SEL? I will soon be adding factory remote start and I know that you have to remove the left side panel to install the antenna kit. I know there is a nice write up on here detailing removal of this panel but it's written on an Edge without the power liftgate. I really want to complete this project by myself but don't want to cause any damage to the liftgate. I checked Fords parts website but it wasn't very helpful with their diagrams. Maybe someone has a service manual with pics? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  13. @briankmizell Thanks for the update on this. I figured it was possible to do it with Forscan and some type of OBD2 scanner. There is a mustang forum where someone reported swapping out there basic 4.2 screen to the full 8" screen and had it working without any problems. There was a video showing everything set up and functioning. If I ever get around to doing it, I will post here.
  14. So just to update everything seems fine and there hasn't been another incident of the smoke when starting her up. It may have just been an isolated issue. Thanks to all that had input on this.
  15. It's been sitting in the parking lot at work since early this morning and when I leave this evening I'll see what happens and report back. Hopefully it was just a one-off thing.
  16. I just spoke with my service advisor and he said it sounded like it may have been left over fuel that the catalytic converter burned off. He said it was anything to be concerned about unless it did it every time. I'll post back if anything changes.
  17. Hi WWWPerfA Yes this Edge is fairly new to me I got it back in September. It has the 3.5L with FWD if that matters. I previously owned a 2013 Edge so I'm fairly familiar with most things on the car. I bought it from a Ford dealership that had it certified pre-owned.
  18. Yea it's kind of hard to describe the color. It almost looked like a dark blue/black. It concerned me because I have never seen this before and it acted as if it wanted to die after being cranked but it corrected itself. I had a 2013 SE that never did this when I owned it. If I can get it to reproduce again, should I schedule an appt. with the dealer? Thanks for the quick reply.
  19. Edit - It's a 2014 SEL, not 2012.
  20. Hello, I have a 2012 SEL with around 12,000 miles and noticed something strange this morning. When I started the car it acted as if it didn't want to idle properly and then a puff of blue smoke came out of both tail pipes. It has never done this before. After about 20 seconds it cleared up and seemed to be ok but also had sort of a burning/foul smell. Had a long 4 day break, and the car was parked in the garage. The temp when I started it this morning was about 30 degrees outside. Would there be anything I could check to see what may have caused this? I'll continue to monitor it and see if it happens again. I appreciate any input or suggestions anyone has. Thanks
  21. @candurin Thanks for the quick response. I'll try this route and report my findings. I can't do this until February though.
  22. Candurin, I've got a quick question on this for you. I have a 2014 Edge SEL with basic sync screen and back up camera with dual climate. I want to add remote start myself and just wanted to make sure I purchased the correct items. My Edge also has the power lift gate. I haven't opened the rear panel to see if the antenna is already installed. It's been too cold to do that. My understanding is I need these parts for remote start to function on my Edge - DA8Z-15603-A - antenna kit DA8Z-19G364-A - 100 series plugnplay BT4Z-19G366-A - Hood switch kit (I already have the wiring available) If I understand I can download forscan and get a ODB bluetooth tool to activate remote start. My biggest question is basically can I avoid purchasing part # DA8Z-19G364-A and just order the 5 button IKT remotes on Ebay and program remote start? If that's possible I could save a lot of money. I appreciate if you can help out in any way. Thanks
