  1. Did these sell? If not email me at Stang99x@yahoo.com. I don't get on the forums like I used to
  2. Whistles are pretty common, especially on short intake tubes. Ford used to have issues with the IAC valves causing a whistle like hum. The only real fix is to change the angles of the air slow. Good luck with that though. Truth be told, if you don't have a bigger exhuast and tune to go with it, increased intake air does nothing below 5-6k rpm. If the whistle is that annoying, send it back. Just being honest, not tryin to be an ass
  3. That is probably one of the most intelligent posts I've ever seen on an online forum from someone I don't know. You have obviously done the research you say you have (and I know that as I have done the same and concluded with the same results) If you wish to increase flow in, you simply must also increase flow out. An engine is nothing other than a big ass air pump. Only X amount can enter and then exit the way it is. Want more power? More in, and more out. Simply adding more in will do nothing other than what he stated, lean out the A/F ration a tad. (which will make it feel a little stronger, but also plays more on the dangerous side of ratio's) It was determined a while back that the new F150, when adding an intake, needed a custom tune to offset the lean ratios it caused. RJG, I salute you sir. It's not often you find someone who has actually done the work and realizes that CAI's are nothing more than a cash cow for companies like K&N if you don't intend on going much deeper into the aftermarket. And for those that would question the information, I can tell you I've done some of the dumbest, craziest stuff in my time. I had a 98 Navigator (the 5.4 32V Intech) that I got bored and strapped a blower onto for fun. But I also had a custom dual 3" exhaust, had the intake ported and polished, Lightning SVT injectors and MAF, went through 4 different sets of custom tunes before finding a satisfactory one. It was a beast in the end, putting down 352HP and for some unknown reason, 447#TQ. I loved that big bastard, but what a royal PITA to work with. Everytime I turned around there was another Vac leak, rotted hose or the blower pressure would pop the rubber elbows of in the liquid to air intercooler piping. Last I heard, it was up in Paduka Kentucky.
  4. It looks good. I'm not really a Magnaflow fan, honestly I'm a Flowmaster person myself. I guess, at the end of the day, I can't bring myself to bother with modding the Edge after the wifes last SUV. She had an 07 Cherokee SRT8, so no matter how much money I could throw at the Edge it's never going to even come close to comparing for power and speed. I haven't put an exhaust on a V6 in over 15 years. But that's the good thing with cars and aftermarket stuff these day, there is so much out there that anyone can customize their ride the way they like it. So, at the end of the day, if you like the look and sound then that's all that matters. I will say, keeping the stock tips was a good idea. I had a 98 Lincoln Mark VIII and I did the same, keeping the stock tips. Give's a little meaner tone while maintaining the look of a stock car.
  5. As I've read so many times, yet the site offers me nothing saying my 3.5.1 is the most up to date available.
  6. My 3.5.1 still shows most up to date. I had it at the dealer to replace a high pressure power steering line that was leaking, and asked them to do 3.6 while they had it. I looked at the invoice as I picked it up, said performed reset. I asked if that meant they updated it, the response was "yes it is up to date." It's still on 3.5.1 However, I really have none of the problems anyone else speaks of. The only issue I've had is a couple of random reboots while driving down the road. It pairs multiple phones, plays bluetooth on one and uses the phone function on another, etc. As for the iPhone text thing, the iPhone is still listed as an unsupported phone for text messages according to Ford. Maybe there is a way to get it to work, however I have no issue just looking at my phone, or having Siri read the text message to me. I'd really like to get the 3.6 update though. It's quite disappointing that I can't download it, and the dealer doesn't have it.
  7. So am I the only person on earth who isn't being offered 3.6? I had to go back and confirm old updates since the previous owner never confirmed them. It has 3.5.1 that the dealer installed back in late June. But the site has no option for 3.6?
  8. I did something like that years ago in my Navigator. Had the stock 8 with the bolted back plate. Take it out, cut the bolt area and then JB Weld with silicone and plexiglass, modify the front for a 10. Worked really well for what it was. Of course, it's not likely you can get the exact volume specs for a 10, but it's better than an 8. I hate crap systems, but honestly the system in the 11 Sport I just bought is Dam fine compared to most any stock system I have ever heard. The bass is a little lacking, but overall i find it quite pleasing. My days of license plate rattling are long behind me now.....
  9. Ok so I just got an 11 Sport. It obviously has the MFT system. I've played with a few over the years and known many folks that had them, never seen nor heard of a problem until I went online and specifically looked for problems. (i.e. I searched for MFT/SYNC problems) I was just curious if there were any known issues. I've seen the mftsucks site, and a couple other sites dedicated to whining about the system. I see one major problem with those sites......if you are going to go that far to whine and complain to the world, at least use proper grammar and spell check. Nothing says this person is an idiot worse than minor grammar screwups, except for the MAJOR grammar fails. If you can't use spell check, then i'd reckon you probably can't use a basic touch screen interface. Not directing this at any of you, not by any means, just pointing out that if you really want to make a point like those folks, do it right. Now, as for those who are fed up and can't get any help, I'm going to tell you how to solve this. I've gotten fed up as hell over the years with a few major companies (I mean all Fortune 500, several Fortune 50) These are all PUBLICLY owned companies...like you can buy stock and have a sliver of ownership. That being said, at anytime you can call the corporate office and ask to speak to the CEO, president, whomever you wish. Obviously, they aren't going to transfer you to Alan Mullaly. Don't expect that. But when they refuse, simply ask if they are denying you the right to speak to the (insert here whomever's rank) of a public company. This will get their attention. You'll be either transferred to an assistant, or will get a return call from one. This assistant will work in one of the top dogs offices. These people have far more power than anyone would ever think. They are the last line before you speak to numero uno. I have used this very method against FedEx, Blue Cross Blue Shield, AMEX, Atlanta Gas Light, and UPS and everytime it works without fail. To give you a quick basic understanding. When my sister became pregnant with her son, she had blue cross blue shield of GA insurance. She called to verify maternity coverage, and it was confirmed she did. After a visit to her doctor in the early stages, she recieved a denial of benefits because "no maternity coverage" with her policy. I listened to her for days go round and round with those CSR's on the phone. When she finally broke down crying I asked her if she wanted me to handle it. Of course, between being a female, my sister, and pregnant you can imagine the response I got (no offense ladies, but those hormones do strange things to women......like eating pickles with dirt.....need I say more?) Now, I know for a fact that BCBS of GA and every other major corporation records all calls for "quality assurance and training purposes." Yea, no it's not for either of those. They record those conversations for use against you in court after you fly off the handle on them and try to sue. Then you look like an idiot. However, that very safeguard on their part was their downfall in this case. I called with my sister present, got my name attached to her account for the purposes of administration of phone service benefits and dealt with the issue. Of course the CSR's and their managers decided to stonewall me. No biggie. I called the corporate office after that and asked to speak to the CEO (whose name I had already looked up) Of course she was unavailable. So I asked when she'd be available. She doesn't take calls from individual customers. Really? A public companies CEO won't talk to their customers? Are you saying you will not allow me to speak to her? Well then, attention now gotten, she said she would have the CEO's assistant call me. I got a call that afternoon and explained how my sister was told she was covered and now they weren't covering her. I said, i want the tapes of the conversation pulled and verified since I have a recorded copy of that conversation. Ok, so I could bore you with the rest, but at the end of the day, though I never spoke to the CEO, they covered her for maternity. Moral of the story is, when you can't get a reasonable solution, go straight to the top. And don't get put off. If they say they are going to return you call, ask when. If they say tomorrow, expect a call. If you don't get a call then, call back and express your displeasure immediately. Don't get mad, don't use profanity. Just push harder to the CEO. Keep pushing. They won't ignore you if you are persistant. Like I said above, I've done this with BCBS of GA, FedEx, UPS, AMEX, and so forth. It's worked every single time. So when you succeed, post it up :hyper:
  10. I had a problem just like this in my 2007 Cherokee SRT8. It would randomly turn on all the nanny system lights and have 0 acceleration. Turned out that the shifter slides down a contact strip when you shift into gear. That tells the car what gear you are in. Those strips get dirty and the signal gets weak and the car will suddenly think you aren't in gear, or something catastrophic has happened and you loose the ability to accelerate. I took mine apart, cleaned it with brake parts cleaner (obviously contact cleaner would have been more appropriate but I didn't have any on hand) Once I cleaned that contact strip, I never had the problem again. I'd check into that becuase what you describe is exactly what I had happening to me. I was pretty few and far in between in the begining but it got a lot more frequent over time.
  11. That sucks. $350 for video in motion isn't really worth it to me. It should come down in time though, as I know the navigation system in the Accord has a $175 bypass that makes it video capable (it's not video capable from the factory) parked and in motion.
  12. Looks really good there KingMike. I have the exact same Sport as you, and I was just talking about that tonight with the wife. I typically do badge deletes on all my cars, but there is no good way to delete the oval. Changing it to red and black matches our Sports color pretty good from the looks. How do the decals hold up for you? There's a guy on ebay with base/cleared ones for $40 each. I'm just wondering how well the decal will weather.
  13. Well, I don't have anything pleasant to say about Billy Howell Ford. Mr Howell himself, nicest guy in the world. His son, not the brightest bulb on the tree. He's managing to destroy everything his dad built in 1/10th the time. Sad thing is, I live less than 2 miles from them and I can't buy anything with them. They are constantly $2-$4k higher than other local dealers, and they won't back off those absurd prices. I tried to buy an edge from them, but they want $33k for what other dealers are selling for $28k. (and I mean identical vehicles down to the color......like they both were 2013, both were CPO's, had the exact same option groups, everything perfectly matched) Same thing happened several years ago when I was trying to buy a new Explorer. They had a "program" car, it was actually the one Mr Howell drove I think. 7800 miles on it, they wouldn't back a dime off of $2k under sticker. And they insulted me on the offer they gave me for my trade......it's actually quite amusing truthfully. I was trading in a 2004 Explorer Limited V8 AWD and trying to get into a 2008 Explorer V8 2wd. I said I had to have V8. They were like, man V8's are really high right now and hard to get. Then no more than an hour later they were ball busting low on the value of mine. So I said, if V8's are so hard to get and so high then why bust my balls with a crappy low offer? It instantly went up $2k when he realized his own stupidity. I still didn't buy there, mainly on principle. And the service Department, wow I could go on for hours about that. I leased a 2005 Aviator brand new back in 05. It leaked oil until 4 years later when I turned it in. They had it in there enough I could have returned it on the lemon law. The problem with that place is simple. Bill Howell, Mr Howell's son. He's a cheap @$$ that tries to run the place on the thinnest possible expenses. Bought a new Lincoln eh! Take it in for service under warranty and they'll happily put you in a Taurus base model for a week. You want a Lincoln loaner you say? Sorry, they don't do that. It's really sad to, they have some really good quality sales people. Anyway, I could go on all night about them. It hasn't gotten any better in the last few years, and I don't find it likely to either. If you wanna see what I mean on pricing, look at the white 2013 Edge Sport they have on the lot. It's a used model, got to have a good few miles on it as it has a set of half worn down Pirelli's on it. Their price? $39,999.
  14. I thought about swapping to HID. It's become so cheap these days that you can do it for the price of a set of silverstars. But, I think it puts out decent light as is, so maybe in the future.
