  1. Is this leaking PTU seal an issue on 2010 AWD's?
  2. The chrome clad wheels are nothing more than a permanent plastic hubcap mounted over an aluminum wheel. The aluminum wheel underneath is unfinished, so even though you could remove the plastic cover, you would not want to. They look terrible underneath. Our 2008 had the 20" chrome clad wheels, and they held up extremely well. In my opinion, the chrome-plated plastic cover is just as durable as a painted wheel, if not more durable. When we traded last week, we chose another Limited with 20" wheels. My only complaint is that they do make a slight "clicking" noise when rolling slow. This "clicking" cannot be heard in the car. It is just noticeable when the car rolls slowly past, like in a driveway.
  3. Yeah, the 2008 was quieter. I like the mirror-in-mirror, and Sync definitely works better, but I thought that was due to having the nav on this one. I just wish they had not installed the front license plate holder. My 2008 had it in the trunk, but it was never installed. The 2010 has it installed, so there are holes in the bumper if I remove it.
  4. If the subwoofer comes with the sub-amp, then I would guess that all you have to do is plug it in and mount it.
  5. Like the title says, my wife just traded in her Creme Brule with Camel interior 2008 AWD Edge Limited for a Platinum White with Medium Stone interior 2010 AWD Edge Limited. The 2010 has every option, including navigation and 20" wheels. It also came with a $290 option called Cargo Protection, which consists of a rubber liner for the cargo area, a cargo privacy cover, and a black sticker on the rear bumper. Definitely not worth $290, but it was already there. The main reason for trading was the lower (0%) interest rate. The MSRP was $42k. They gave us $25k for the 2008 with 36,000 miles. We owed $19k on it, so with x-plan plus a $1500 mailer rebate plus the $7k for the trade, she ended up financing about $32k at 0%. Her payment actually went down almost $100 a month, but she went from 32 payments remaining to 60 payments. I love the color. This one feels like it sits up a little higher than the 2008. I joined this site when she bought the 2008. Now I am back to see if anything has changed. Does anyone make a tuner that works with these cars and how much power does it add? Also, who makes a decent exhaust? I am really hoping she lets me trick this car out. If not, maybe it will be mine in a few years.
  6. Our 08 Limited came with both the carpeted camel floormats and the black rubber floormats from the factory. we took out the carpeted mats on the first day and have only been using the black rubber mats. We may use the carpeted mats for special occasions, but I suspect that they won't go back into the car until the day we sell it.
  7. Awesome in the rain too. I am so glad that I got the AWD. those FWD guys don't know what they are missing. Tracking around corners is awesome. The car feels like it is on rails.
  8. I really understand the value of AWD now...I understand all the fuss with the WRX and EVO. It makes a huges difference, and we are still getting 16.2 MPG around town. I am sure that number will get better as the engine loosens up and we move into Summer with better gas formulations. We just turned over 600 miles and we are almost at the end of our second tank of gas. This car is a hoot to drive!
  9. Having a 16 year old and a 15 year old who go to a magnet school, my wife has to drive them to school every day. My 16 year old daughter is not quite ready to drive to school on her own, so my wife rides with them in the Explorer, then takes the Explorer to work. At 3:00, she leaves work and picks them up at school, and my daughter drives her back to work then drives home. Consequently, my wife has only driven her new Edge AWD a few times. It is raining today and my truck was washed and waxed on Sunday, so she called me and told me to take the Edge to work today. Woohoo! That thing is a freaking blast to drive in the rain. Taking off at full throttle up a hill while turning and there was no wheel spin whatsoever. The glass BAMR really muffles the sound of raindrops. I thought this was a soccer mom car, but I may be wrong. What a fun drive, and all the while, my 2008 F250 is safe and dry in my garage. The only things that it needs are about 100 more horsepower, to be lowered about two inches, and better tires...then I could race it in SCCA races!
  10. I love the fact that the MKZ has LEDs in the taillights, but am I the only one who absolutely despises the fact that the taillights go all the way across the back of the vehicle? We looked at the MKZ and my wife did not like the way they looked at all.
  11. Like I said, don't feel too bad. I am paying about $145 more per month at 6.9% for my F250 than a person buying today at 0%. I am sure I will lose some sleep over it...it just means that I work about six hours a month just to pay for that extra interest.
  12. I know how you feel. I bought my 2008 F250 in May with no rebates and 6.9% financing for 60 months. Now they have 0% for 60 months. Do the math on that...my impatience is costing me over $100 a month for 5 years! When we went to the dealership last week, we applied for financing for the Edge on January 31 and held off until February 1 to make sure that nothing changed. The salesman said that they could play either side of the fence as long as the application was in before the end of the month. Of course, it ended up being the same in february as it was in January.
  13. Off topic, but what oil are you using in your Edge akirby?
  14. In our case, we got the $500 bonus customer cash by financing with Ford Credit. We also got the 3.9% for 60 months.
