  1. NEW CONDITION Thule 872XT 44" Fairing. NEVER INSTALLED.... Still have original packaging.$85 Thule 7503 (pair) mounted on car one week.....PERFECT/AS NEW $325 Thule 450R crossroads with Aerobar 53" including locks....... Brand New $285 All prices include shipping within the USA
  2. youri631 I would still use the rack/cross bars for carrying long loads. I now drive with the crossbars removed. I am suggesting to Thule via email conversation that they make the fairing for the Aeroblades. The Aeroblades are very nice. The fairing is key to improved safety although not completely eliminating it. The roof fairing does transfer airflow up and over the cross bars and glass. I still can't believe what happened. I'm still finding super small pieces of glass in the car. They are detailing the interior next week. It's nice to have my car back although keeping my distance from other cars while on the highway.
  3. After having my panoramic roof exploding from a rock impact against my cross bars , I strongly advice not to leave bars on, attach roof rack fairing or find another way of carrying extra luggage. They have gutted my car of all seats, carpet and liner and still finding glass.....$3000+ repair. Just a suggestion. I just ordered one of these...Rola 59110 http://www.carid.com/universal-trailer-hitches/rola-cargo-carriers-3727064.html
  4. Update..... Getting car back today. Emails sent to Thule and Ford with a friendly suggestion to evaluate glass function and crossbar aerodynamics when in use over large glass sunroofs. Car had to be gutted to remove all the glass. Will be nice to get back. I purchased a Rola 59110 cargo hitch case for extra storage. Will minimal storage on roof going forward.....Safe Driving.
  5. Judging from the sunroof profile it is a similar thickness as the side glass. If they are similar then We got very lucky with the glass not imploding. I also think that the glass should have the same impact resistance as the windshield. With that said.nothing can protect you and how you react when the glass explodes. I was lucky not to look up at the glass and concentrated on my passenger and not losing control. I'll take a little luck any day. As a result of my experience, I will purchase a air fairing and only use when carrying cargo above in a case.
  6. Gotta love tempered glass. He's a couple photos of the damage. Can happen to any car.
  7. Well, a one in a million event occurred today. I have a beautiful 2013 SEL with a Panoramic sunroof. I have racks and cross bars on the vehicle as well. Today, while driving on I-5 outside Seattle and traveling 65 mph, a semi kicked a rock up in my path. The rock reflected upward over the windshield and impacted the cross bars on my rack. The deflection of the impact sent the rock downward causing the giant sunroof to literally explode. The sound was so loud I still have a headache 4 hours after the event. While some glass entered the vehicle, the majority of the glass maintained shape but was too unstable. It required pulling over at the first exit. All I can say is, my passenger and I were unharmed. I would like to suggest that no matter what type of roof rack or vehicle you may own, If your car has a oversized sunroof, please consider only using cross bars when carrying a upper load. I can assure you, if you have the same event, you will likely crash as a result. It is a absolutely shocking experience. Love my Edge anyway........ DRIVE SAFE
  8. Weakest element of the 2011-2014 Edge....interior leather...... Weakest element of the 2015.......exterior....trying too hard like the Escape. I'll take my 2013 exterior with a 2015 interior.....call it good.
  9. EGR MATTE BLACK hood protector.....was used for Art Student Photography project.....PERFECT with no scratches or scuffs. $90 shipped USA OEM Chrome front Grill....... PERFECT with holes for license plate. $100 shipped USA Photos per request. 2011-2014 Ford Edge
  10. Cost vs value = eye of the beholder. End of the day, you look hard enough and you can always find a nicer car...but at what cost? Jeep like all the others continue to offer more attractive packages. I think the edge has just enough "nice" about it, that it will carry me forward for the next 5-10 years without another look of what the market has to offer.
  11. Nice......treating my customized 2013 SEL the same and looking forward to years of enjoyment. Heck, even my 20 year old loves it.
  12. Just cleaning out the garage...... Load bars 60" New $75 Thule load stops $35 Everything is in near new condition. Let me know what your interested in. Photos on request. Thanks....
  13. I have some extra set of Thules from my wife's Volvo that are in outstanding condition I think they are the 759s. You just turn and twist the end caps and a internal mechanism clamps the base to the Rails. Send me your email and I can take some photos.
  14. "Is Anyone Satisfied With Their Edge?" Yes....I am.
  15. Mike Craig at D'Orazio Ford (815-476-5205) took care of me. Just figured I'd own the car for longer than 5 years and will pass on to my son after he graduates and is employed. Great car for a good kid. Time will tell. There's a lot of tech in these cars now. I can tell you that I have always kept the best extended warranties on my cars and they always pay for themselves either with real repairs or during resale. Buyers appreciate the piece of mind and the pride of ownership. Drive safe.
  16. I haven't figured out how to post photos yet but the proof is me. I have the OEM rails with Thule crossbars that sit on top of the rails. No clearance issues at all. You do have to be extra careful because your storing/carrying things above glass. Send me your email and I can forward photos. When the OEM rails were installed, I put the Thule's on, but unsecured, to see if clearance was a issue. I'll figure this photo thing out over the weekend.
