  1. Thanks for your comments Jen. I will check into those chrome handles. Dave
  2. Has anyone installed those chrome window pillar posts that you can get on ebay? These cover the black area all around the windows (which seem to scratch easy). They look nice in the picture. Makes the Edge look classier. Dave
  3. Have had my 2wd Edge since March. Just turned 6,000 KM's with no problems at all with this 2008 vehicle. Dave
  4. The parking brake is a great idea jlight. (Looking back at it now!) Dave
  5. Well, after hearing about the Edge and how much it rolls back when putting it in park, it happened to me. I backed up to my travel trailer (which was on a downslope), put it in park about 4" away from the tongue of the trailer and you guessed it. The Edge rolled right back and cut a hole in the bumper. Nice! Not even 3 months old. This vehicle does roll back more than others as far as I am concerned. I put a "tape on" reflector over the damage until I decide what I am going to do. Just a word of warning to you guys and girls so it does not happen to you. Dave
  6. Thanks guys! We (the premium painted wheels group) must stick together!!!!! Dave
  7. Thanks for both of your responses. I now feel much better about those rims. Nice looking plane wingburner! Dave
  8. I keep looking, but never see anyone else with them. The gray wheels are nice in one way, but from a distance they look dirty with no shine to them. I am kind of wishing I had the nice shiney chrome looking wheels. My dealer talked me into going with the larger 18" wheels with these rims. I had never even seen the rims until my Edge came in. I live close to the Oakville plant and see all the Edge's with the nice wheels. Does anyone else have the darker gray wheels and do you like them? Dave
  9. I take it that you already have the roof rails. If so, yes the cross bars are very easy to install. Just 2 screws on the end of each cross bar attach it to the roof rail.
  10. So far I am very happy with my gas mileage. I have just over 2,000 km's on mine so it might not even be broken in yet. But I am comparing this to a 2004 Ford Freestar van that I traded in for my Edge. That van had a 98 litre tank and I would get about 500 km's per tank. My Edge has a 72 litre tank and I am getting at least 575 km's per tank. I just wanted to point out that some of us are fairly happy with the mpg's. Dave
  11. Not sure if you have it on your 07, but my button to push is marked "EXT" right beside all the temperture controls on my 08. I am pretty sure all Edge's would have this.
  12. I agree with jamers. If that is a new blue for 2009, I wish it was available in the 08's. Oh well, my light ice blue is nice too. :yup:
  13. Thanks Bon Dia for the tip on hooking up the trailer brakes. I think I will. Not looking forward to hearing all those noises while towing though.
  14. That Oakville Ford plant provided a job for my father and father in law for over 30 years each. They have both passed away and I will always be thankful to Ford for providing us with food and shelter. I just got my last vehicle on the A plan (my Edge 2 weeks ago) and will always support Ford with the A plan or not. Just my 2 cents worth. Dave
  15. Do you blame all those people for buying an Edge? It's a fantastic vehicle! I have had mine for 2 weeks (today). I see 6 to 8 truckloads of them every morning on the highway as I drive to work. (That is in a 20 minute period). I work in Burlington Ontario and the Edge is built in Oakville. Dave
  16. So Bon Dia, was the total weight of the jetski and trailer 1,000 lbs? I have a 2,000 lb travel trailer (not a pop up) which will be around 2,500 lbs or more full and am really hoping that my Edge pulls it ok this summer. The trailer has brakes which I might get hooked up to the Edge as well. Dave
  17. Hi Jim. I have the factory roof rails on my Edge. I had my dealer order the roof racks for me. They made a mistake and ordered roof rails. When I opened the box, the instructions stated that it was recommended that the dealer install the roof rails. The actual roof racks are very easy to install though. Just 2 screws on the end of each rack. But I am sure that if you know what you are doing, you could intall the roof rails yourself. Hope this helps. Dave
  18. Glaciers up here in Canada??? Spring is in the air Bri719. Just finished washing it. It takes a while with all those nooks and crannys. I have the original Ford racks. They look good to me. The only thing is that you have to use 8 screws to attach the 2 racks to the rails. Not always easy to put on and take off when you want to. When I have the racks on, I will show you some pics. I take it that you do not have the tow package. I have an excellent bike carrier that holds 2 bikes and goes right into the trailer hitch. Lot easier than putting a bike inside or on top of the Edge. Dave
  19. I am still trying to find out who has the most miles on their Edge. Got to be someone out there with close 50,000 miles. Dave
  20. I am totally with you on this one Bri719! The Edge does look better with the roof rails. I ordered my Edge Feb. 11th and it came in last week. (with the roof rails of course). Yesterday, my roof racks came in which I am going to put on only when I carry a kayak. I have not seen what it looks like yet with the roof racks on, but it's only going to be the roof rails only for now. So there you go my friend, roof rail lovers unite! lol I also got the premium 18" painted wheels too. Looks great. Going out to wash my baby for the first time. Dave P.S. I have the Light Ice Blue color.
  21. I disagree with that statement about the Edge not being able to tow a "solid state" trailer. I have a 17' 2,000 lb travel trailer (Maybe 2,500 lbs full) and I know I will be able to tow it this summer. Dave
  22. Thanks for the update dpboone. You do put lots of mile on your vehicles! I don't blame you changing the oil every 5,000 miles. I change my oil even more than that. Every 5,000 km. That is probably 4,000 to 4,500 miles. (And my manual says to change it every 12,000 km) Forget that. I just picked up my Edge last week. I have 320 km on it. lol Not sure when I am going to make my first oil change. Dave
  23. Hi all. I think it would be fun to do a poll of how many miles or kilometers you have on your Edge. It will be fun to see who has the most and how many you are putting on per month/year. I will start the proceedings: 238 km (Just got mine on Thursday) lol Drving Start Date - March 20/08. Dave
  24. Thanks Iceman! I think I was a little confused there. The towing package mentions an engine oil cooler, but not a transmission cooler. Thanks again. Dave
