  1. Waldo, What you describe is exactly what happened with our 2013 Edge Sport. In the "auto" setting, the high beams will not stay on. As to whether or not this car has "auto-dimming" headlights, I don't see any mention of this specific term in the "Headlamps" section of the book. Here is how that section reads: "The autolamp system provides light sensitive automatic on-off control of the exterior lights normally controlled by the headlamp control." Regarding fog lamps, the dealer told us the car was equipped with them. And I see them mentioned in the "Symbol Glossary", on page 10 of the owners' manual, but not in the section on Lighting. And I don't see this symbol on the auto itself. So, I wonder if it really has them.
  2. As a relatively new Edge owner, I'm clearly no expert. But I think we get that message when the phone connects, which would be every time we get into the car. I interpreted it to be a warning against using the phone or anything else that is not "hands-free". I'm pretty sure the message includes a warning to "obey the rules of the road?" and use only voice commands when driving. Not a comfort to those who find this repetitive warning irritating, though. Given the exchange I had (above) regarding the voice volume of our GPS, I assume you can simply turn down the voice using the volume knob. I stand corrected. My husband says no, it's not when the phone syncs, it's connected to initializing the GPS. So, strike that theory, Nick. Sorry...
  3. Thanks. It's still under warranty. We'll take it to the dealer when we get home and see what's up.
  4. Explain please?? Are you saying that the fog caused the headlights to reflect back onto the car? If so, could that prevent the high beams from locking in? If we pushed the lever forward, the high beams would come on for a second and then go off. There was no click to signal that they had engaged (as others have said should happen)... except when we switched the lights from "auto".
  5. We experimented a bit more. It appears that if you switch the headlights from "auto" into the headlight position, then the high beams seemed to lock in like they are supposed to. Last night, when we discovered this issue, it had been raining. We remembered someone telling us you can't turn on the high beams when the fog lights are on. So, now we wonder if the reason the high beams would not come on last night is because the headlight sensor detected fog and turned on the fog lights. We are really just guessing at this point. We will definitely have it checked out (by the dealer) when we get home.
  6. Rebecca & Omar I can't believe it was that simple. Do we feel stupid It explains so much... like how the voice volume kept getting changed in the first place. This is such a relief! Learning to operate this vehicle continues to be a learning experience. And yes, we did rename her (Penelope, after our favorite techie on Criminal Minds). Now, if only we could figure out what's going on with the high beams, we'd be set... Thanks again!
  7. Thanks Rebecca! So... is Samantha "her" official Ford name? Definitely will try it! Thanks again...
  8. Omar... could it really be this simple? I confess to an ounce of skepticism about this solution. I think adjusting the volume via the knob or steering wheel button will only adjust the volume of the entertainment system. But you can be sure the next time we are in the car, we will try this! Thanks!
  9. Thanks to you both. Actually, it's on page 88 in our manual (copyright 2012). Maybe there are 3 extra pages in the US version (we live in Canada). Did not "overshoot". However, did not feel/hear the click of it engaging. I think we just need to take it in to the dealer. If we are doing it incorrectly, I'm sure they'll tell us!
  10. We have a 2013 Ford Edge Sport. We are having a difficult time getting the volume of the voice for the GPS to stay at a reasonable level. It's possible we did something to lower it, unknowingly, although I don't know how. It got really quiet. We could barely hear it. We adjusted the System settings (I think it was the "System Prompt Volume"). We got the voice volume back up. It was OK for a while. But then, it got quiet again. And again, we raised the volume. Now it's too loud. We keep turning it down, but it doesn't seem to matter. There is also a setting under "Voice Control/Voice Control Volume". But I don't think this is the one we want. Can someone help us??? Patti
  11. We've had our 2013 Edge Sport since September, and we are still getting used to the technology. That said, we can't figure out what's up with the high beams. Regular headlights work fine. We don't do a lot of night driving, so it's difficult to say how long this has been going on. When we turn on the high beams, by pushing the lever forward, they flash but do not stay on. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks in advance... Patti
