  1. Mine with the Creme Brule colour ... looks tough!!! A LOT better than chrome .....
  2. I've had Kumho's on my old Subaru Outback a while back and they were better than most out there. I know a few shops that deal in most brand of tires ... they will sell you the higher brand ones, but they recommend others which cost less. Friend also owns a Porsche Independant shop and have access to all types of tires and I use Bridgstone on my Porsche. Michelin at times is hit and miss as with most tire brands. In the past with my Volvo's, I changed them out rather quickly as they were poor in bad weather. The ones on my Edge are rather good which is a surprise. Usually stock tirees are on the poorer quality side due to the "cost" the factory requests. I shall see what happens in the future. On March 5th we had a blizzard here ... took the edge out (second day I owned it) for a spin and it was more sure footed than my old 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2 (which I traded in for the Edge).
  3. Been using synthetic for over 20 years. Once I changed over ... there was a noticable savings ... be it a used car or new. My 1986 Porsche 951 definatley sees a difference in milage.
  4. 2 to 5% or more savings over 8000 kms is not something to sneeze at.
  5. Still it's an improvement overall. Savings on gasoline always helps!!!
  6. Ethanol affects milage ... up to about 10 to 15% less than with 100% gasoline. In Toronto Canada we have several choices ... I use Petro Canada at 100% gasoline. Average on the highway doing 130 khr is 9 liters or close to 27 MPImperial Gallon. I still have less than 5000 kms on the clock. Wait till summer formula comes out. It will get better.
  7. There is one cost most forget. With Synthetic Oils one gets about 10% BETTER gas milage than with normal Dino Oil. Here is where the savings come in. It has less friction than dino which leads to better milege as well as a cooler engine. My Canadian Ford Dealer does sell and use Synthetic oils and have made that note in my file. I would prefer the extra protection year round; cooler in summer & easlier start-ups in the winter. Just follow the schedule in your manual for oil changes according to YOUR driving habits. Most come under the sever service catagory.
  8. I replaced my low beams with a H9 65W bulbs, used Narva brand from Germany. The H9 fits the H11 sockets with a slight trim on the larger tab. The 65W does light up further down the road than the H11's. Just don't use them in the fog lights as the heat is too much; fogs are H11. I used the HR1 for the high beams. I also upgraded the front marker/turn to a brighter one as well. Below is my order: On Mon, 17 Mar 2008, > >> Daniel ... Looks like I will spring for a pair of : >> >> 2100-lumen H9 item: 2 units > > Very fine. Please order those here: > http://store.candlepower.com/h-9.html > >> HIR1, 12.8V, 65W, 2530 lumens, 320 hours: 2 units > > These get ordered here: http://store.candlepower.com/9011.html > >> 3157NAK (Amber) front: 2 units >
  9. Michelin Lattitude Tour HP. These are the first tires on a vehicle I did not have to replace due to poor performance. These work great in the Snow, Ice, Rain and dry pavement.
  10. Welcome fellow Canuck (former CDN Military myself; early 1970's).. I find the more you drive it ... the more you like it!!! I myself went for the Creme Brule with the painted rims .... Enjoy!!!
  11. I got the 18" painted wheels which makes the Creme Brule look "tougher". The Class 2 trailer kit was ordered as well. The tax was not included as the trade-in value is not taxed on the new vehicle. I save a bit over $1,800 CDN which is better than selling the Discovery privately.
  12. I did not get the DVD because of the Vista roof ... only way to add DVD with Vista is the rear seat option. Not worth it. A $100 portable makes more sense!!! That was the price BEFOE the Landrover Trade-in ... this is what one would negotiate with. The MSRP was ~$46,800 with 5 year warranty and a few other goodies. It also helps that one of the companies divisions orders Fords through them as well :yup: Plus 0% interest!!!
  13. Lex ... I'm going to take mine apart to see what's inside. The housings may fit a componant system nicely.
  14. To import into Canada he needs all TSB campains completed. All he needs is a letter from the Dealer on their letterhead stating that all TSB's have been completed on the vehicle with none outstanding. Jaak (in Canada, have friend who Imports Porsches to his Independant dealership).
  15. Your welcome ... Friends with SUV, CUV etc. have all bought these. Seems to work well!
  16. Update ... was a few degrees above freezing (+3 C and sunny) so I replaced the fronts this afternoon. I will replace the rears on Sunday as a few other things needed to be looked after. Here is a list of tools needed to remove the door panels: #20 Torex bit on a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 2" extension (for the speakers as well as the screw behing the door handle) 7/32" socket with a 2" extension to remove the screw under the rubber in the door pull. #2 philips screwdriver. use a stubby on the two screws by the door hindges. A normal one on the others. It is rather easy to remove the door panels. Easiest one yet ... almost reminds me of the cars from the 60's ... Jaak
  17. Why are you on the Edge Forum ... Mazda not available? For me the CX-9 was at least $5,000 more ... comparing apples and oranges ... I like the Edge ... looked at mazda and chose the Edge ...
  18. Paid under $42,000 with X-plan in Canada. It's fully loaded except for the DVD .. not with the BAMR. Didn't go with the rear seat DVD ... no need for it. I was curious as to the price difference between USA & canada and have noticed that the Canadian models all come pretty well equipt. There is not much to add vs the USA models. We seem to get it all in ... where as the USA you need to add each item in. Mine was $4000 less than MSRP at the time. Dealership I used is one where our large gets their vehicles from. They did give me a decent trade-in on the 2003 Landrover Discovery SE-7 (which had been rear ended & repaired), which saved on the sales tax (15% Federal & Provincial combined). When I drove a rental in Lost Wages ... there was less on that vehicle than what comes with up here.
  19. Got mine on 6th March ... have 1,800 Kms on the clock. Runs great ... and the more I drive it ... the better I like it!!!
  20. Folks ... this is what I had ordered. Delivery within a few days. His website has tons of information on automotive lighting that is worthwile reading. I have a brand spanking new Ford Edge Limited AWD with H11 as the low beams.< Ford have recently "gotten it" and have been installing decent optics on their cars (finally). H11 is an ultralong-life, rather low-output bulb producing 1350 lumens. You can easily and safely replace the H11 low beam bulbs with 2100-lumen H9 items: http://store.candlepower.com/h-9.html -- don't make this substitution in the fog lamps, however. > I would like to order a pair of your finest. I am looking for a good distance beam pattern down the road as well as one that hopefully lasts longer than a year.< Can't have all of the above. Higher output = shorter life. Buy spares; they're not too costly. Your high beams can also be significantly upgraded if you will Replace the existing 9005 bulbs with 9011. The new bulbs are not some tinted or overwattage version of 9005, but rather employ a relatively new technology called HIR, Halogen Infrared Reflection. The mechanical dimensions of the bulb are all virtually identical to the 9005, but the bulb glass is spherical instead of tubular, with the sphere centered around the filament. There is a "Durable IR Reflective" coating on the spherical glass. Infrared = heat, so the coating causes heat to be reflected back to the filament at the center of the sphere. This causes the filament to become much hotter (producing more light) than it can by passing electricity through it, *without* the shorter life or greater heat production that comes with overwattage bulbs (to say nothing of overwattage bulbs' incompatibility with stock wiring.) Here's the comparison: stock: 9005, 12.8V, 65W, 1700 lumens, 320 hours compare: 9005+50, 12.8V, 55W, 1830 lumens, 175 hours new: HIR1, 12.8V, 65W, 2530 lumens, 320 hours These bulbs are costly as bulbs go - $23.95/ea - but their cost is worth considering in context: Any number of companies will charge you more than this for a tarted-up 9005 with blue colored glass (PIAA and Sylvania Silverstar come to mind) that doesn't produce more light and has a very short lifespan. The HIR bulbs have a double-wide top ear on the plastic bulb base, this is to comply with the law requiring different bulbs to have different bases. The extra-wide plastic top ear is easily trimmed or filed to make the bulb fit your headlamp's bulb receptacle. Once that's done, they go directly into the headlamp, and the existing sockets snap on. Please see http://dastern.torque.net/Mods/HIRmod.html for details. The direct order link for these bulbs is http://store.candlepower.com/9011.html You may also want to install the 30% brighter front turn signal bulbs to maintain the proper brightness ratio with the headlamps: http://store.candlepower.com/p3457akda.html > For shipping purposes I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada:< No worries -- Canadian shipping options are provided on the checkout page of our secure Candlepower website linked above.
  21. Lex ... no problem. At times fitment will change depending on the molds, model years and such. I ordered it from the Canadian website as there are less duties and fees than if I ordered it from the USA. The price from them is over $80 less than the retail stores BEST price. Plus their warehouse is in the Metro Toronto area ... faster free delivery. Since we still have a ton of snow, I will have to borrow a bay at my friends Independant Porsche garage to install them ... sometime next week. Will post after install. BTW .. I will post what size of sockets etc that was required to take the door panels apart. This info always helps ... :D
