  1. AWD for our winters. The AWD kicks in when you accelerate from a standstill and then switches to FWD. IIRC 80% of the time it's in FWD until road conditions and wheel slip conditions dictate the AWD to kick in. It works quite well ... as for milage ... the difference is 1 MPG. This will be lost when driving in poor road conditions. The milage depends on how you drive and traffic conditions. They both get the same "milage" stuck in poor traffic. If you tow a trailer ... the AWD will give you better milage & traction.
  2. Small cap full of Woolite/Zero in a warm bucket of water. Use a microfibre wash mitt to clean it well and wipe dry with a clean towel. I use Lexol Leather Conditioner on a small towl to wipe the leather with and buff it with a dry towel. Do this both on the Edge & Porsche leather with great results. Got this tip from detailers on the Porsche websites ...
  3. A small cap full of woolite/zero in warm water works great. Wipe dry with a clean towel.
  4. Mine was done a few months ago ... NO LEAK!!!
  5. Try using the Green machine by Bissel. It does work great on my carpets ... and CLOTH SEATS ................................
  6. Edge is built in Oakville Canada and my Dealer is a 20 minute drive from there. WhiteOak Ford has always been top notch in their service & sales. Hell, the saleman who sold me mine goes back in the shop to make sure I'm being looked after. When my PTO unit was being fixed for a leak, they gave me a LOANER ... a 2009 Focus which was not bad. All I did was add gas .... this dealer is great in my books!!! Now ... I have owned a Land Rover (service was poor), Subaru, not bad service, Volvo's ... poor to not bad, GM ... ignored .... so my Ford Experiance is great!!!
  7. Update on mine: I had mine replace a while ago and two weeks ago did an oil change on my 08 AWD LTD at my friends Porsche Independant shop. :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: NO LEAK!!!!! I looked all around the unit (was on a hoist) and clean as can be. The only thing I can think of that would cause it to leak again if it does would be the cold weather in the winter months. The temperature has been warm since it was done. Don't know if the temperatures drop to way below zero C for it to start leaking again. Maybe the severe temperature allows the unit to leak? I am happy so far. Dealer: Whiteoaks Ford on Mavis Dr., in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. I have had nothing but praise for this dealer. Been to many others ... and are not impressed with them.
  8. In a bucket of warm water add a half cup of Woolite/Zero detergent and mix well. Use a wash mitt to clean seats and wipe up with a clean towel. For the hard to clean spots, Mr. Clean Magic erasure (standard size) works well. Make sure you wipe up after with a clean towel. Once it is clean, you can use Lexol Leather Conditioner to keep them looking good.
  9. Got my vehicle back. They replaced the following: 1 unit: 7T4Z-3A329-BD Shaft P01 1 unit: 8T4Z-7275-A Kit P02 Fluid They said that this seems to fix it for now. They had noticed a bit of pitting on the shaft and replaced it to be on the safe side. They doubted it was permenent. He said it seems to have worked on most of the vehicles as they have not come back. Some he said come back over 5 times ... it's weird. Ford is holding back on the 3rd seal as they need to get heating ovens to heat the seal up to 212 deg. F
  10. Got mine in today for the PTU leak. I'm dealing with the Service Manager who gave me a loaner. I asked him what's the posibility of this being fixed right? He said that Ford has a 3rd generation seal but are not releasing it yet. He knows about the problem and said that many he has seen has been fixed with a seal change. He was not too optimistic ... but said they will do their best. They know about it ... and if their wrenches are as good as the staff there, hopefully it'll get fix. Dealer is Whiteoak Ford in Mississauga, Ontario on Mavis Dr. One of the better dealers I have been at and I have been to many looking for a vehicle. I recommend them!
  11. Most trailer supply stores have a small anti rattle kit ~$9 that clamps onto the drawbar. I have no issues since then.
  12. The main top tab had to be trimmed a slight bit to fit ... I followed Daniel Strerns instructions. I have the bulbs he had reconnened in mine for almost a year now with no issues. I see further down the road and others are not bothered by my lights. With others ... I would of had to replace one by now. These that he recommended are doing exactly as he had suggested!!!
  13. Sorry, only had the heated ones. They may be listed earlier in the thread.
  14. AWD in Toronto. The stock tires are great in the last snowstorm. Got over 12" of powdered wind blown snow. Drove the Edge through a few high snowdrifts and windrows with no problems!!! It runs better than my old 2003 Land Rover Discovery did. The traction is great ... just that the tires are a bit poor on icey surfaces. Wanted to get the Nokian SUV tires ... they don't make it in our size ... bummer ...
  15. Installed mine a few weeks ago ... well worth it. Both the main mirror as well as the small blind spot mirror are heated. It snowed a few times up here and they stayed clean with no ice buildup! They replace the complete glass with a new one that has the blindspot placed in the upper corner (it's heated as well. The face is flush which is easy to clean. The blindspot is installed behind the main glass mirror. I find the mirrors to be better than the OEM that came on my 08 LTD. I see better as well as notice vehicles in the next lane over. This helps when driving to and from work in rush hour on 16 lane highways. There's always someone wanting to move over at the same time you do ... has stopped a few near misses. The install is easy ... I did a write up on it in the other thread.
  16. Early 2007 were an issue. Ford changed and it did improve according to my sources at a Ford dealer. The AWD are better than the FWD. The 2008MY has improved version as well. My 08 AWD LTD brakes are great compared to other Fords in our companies fleet (over a few thousand vehicles in fleet). Any pad updates are good. Friend owns a porsche independant garage (looks after my Porsche) and he can recommend better pads when it comes time.
  17. Installed the mirrors last night in about 10 minutes. The steps I used are as follows: 1. move the mirror body so that the mirror faces 90 degrees outwards from the vehicle. 2. Tilt the mirror so it faces downwards and towards the vehicle. 3. Use a standard width flat head screwdriver with a long shaft & a small flashlight. Look for a shallow slot on the outboard side where the mirror meets the motor that has two tabs, one on either side of the "slot". Place the screwdriver in this "slot" and twist it as if you are opening a "paint can". Wiggle it as you twist and you will notice the two halfs start to separate. Move the mirror slightly till you see the inboard slot. Repeat the same proceedure. Make sure you have a towel handy as the mirror will start to fall down. 4. The mirror should slide out with ease. Disconnect the two heated mirror leads from the mirror. This may be a bit tough as they are a tight fit. 5. Take the new mirror and connect the two heated mirror leads and connect it to the mirror leads. You may have to push it in a bit ... but not too hard. It will slide up the connector completely. 6. With a towel placed over the mirror, add a bit of force to get the mirror to seat in the motor housing. Use a rotating action (as listed earlier in this thread!) to seat the mirror. Make sure it is in. You may want to spend a bit of time doing this 7. With your hand & towel near the mirror give the mirror body a smack to ensure the mirror is set in place. First time mine was not properly seated and it popped out. The heated mirror power leads stopped if from falling to the floor. 8. Repeat on the other side. I then adjusted the mirrors to the optimum position and reset the "seating" position. The mirrors do take a little getting used to ... but the drive in to the office this morning on a very busy 12 lane highway was a little less stressfull as the vision to the sides is better. Too many lane changers trying to get a car length ahead. This is a good investment. My cost was $185 Canadian through my friends garage ... one could of gotten it cheaper on-line ... but the cost would of been more due to duty etc. Plus if there was an issue ... it could be returned with no issues. Hope this helps!!!
  18. This is the first vehicle I have driven where the mirrors are not convex enough! Every vehicle from my Porsche, Land Rover, Volvo, Astro Van, etc had a more convex mirror where you could see the white lines when backing up better. Same goes with the adjustments/vision when driving. I have been a Defensive Driving Instructor as well as spent time being trained to drive on the race track (not oval, road courses), and the Edge mirrors are the worst I have seen. Mine came in today (dealer) and friend will pick them up for me.
  19. Damn ... when I got my Creme Brulle AWD LTD it came with chrome rims. I wanted painted rims ... so the Manager looked on the lot and saw one on another Edge. He swaped them out for me ... NO CHARGE!!! This was in March when sales were good. Today they should bend over backwards to get what you want. Sales numbers are down ... figure they would do what they can to make a sale .... BTW ... I got mine at WhiteOaks on Mavis Dr. in Mississauga, ON. Been to many other dealers and this one has treated me the best.
  20. My 08 AWD LTD has these as standard tires. Latitude Tour HP I did use them in one of the worst snowstorms up here in Toronto, Canada and they did perform way better than my Land Rover Disco 2 SE-7 with Yokohamas (sic)!!! It was sure footed as well as great in braking and cornering. It may have been that the tires had less than 400 miles on them. I have 16,000 Km (10,000 miles) on them now with a fantasic amount of tread on them. I do both highway and city driving, loaded, pulling a trailer and empty. I usually replace any tires I get on any of my vehicles when I first get them. The stock tires are usually the cheapest with marginal performance. This is the first new vehicle where I did not replace the tires. These were designed for the edge to reduce rolling resistance when driving. I had to get used to easing up on the gas pedal earlier than normal (with other vehicles) to begin slowing down. It does seem the resistance is less ... and it gets better fuel numbers to boot. .... now ... who stole my foil hat ... darn redufo is trying to get inside my head again .... :happy feet:
