  1. Just an update on my leak saga...Edge Sport is still at the dealership (This being it's 3rd visit to correct the leak!) I dropped it off with them 10/8 and it is still there...My wife was told today they have to order parts and it may take another week or TWO! I have a case open to do a 'good faith' return or something like that, but that process i'm told, also takes up to 15 business days. Meanwhile I am still making payments on a vehicle I effectively can't use. The dealer today also mentioned that Ford is 're-opening the recall' on these vehicles, but i cannot find any info anywhere on any kind of recall that applies to these cars. Does anyone know about this here? This will be my first and last Ford.
  2. Just an update on my 'New' Ford - It's same story as everyone else. It's sitting, torn apart, at the dealership, waiting for carpets and other 'various' parts that were affected by the water. Colorado Lemon law calls for 30 total business days of repairs or 4 separate repair attempts. I am sitting at about 15 days and 2 attempts so far... I think i will be calling the reaquired vehicle line tomorrow as well as the GM at my dealership...So thanks for posting this info! Does anyone know what the specifics are on if a vehicle is 'eligible' for buy back or not??
  3. I have a 2015 Sport and I've noticed that having the DSP set to 'surround' sounds much better to me- Here is the problem however...I've also noticed the HU constantly decides to turn the 'Surround' setting off at seemingly random intervals! I'll set it to surround and go back and check it a few times, and it is sitting on surround like it should be. The next day, or an hour later or whatever I'll check it and suddenly surround is set to off? Anyone else notice this??
  4. I had a Chevy Volt (Which went about 1000 miles between fill ups) before getting my Edge Sport so my perceptions may be skewed 'a bit' but it seems like I have to fill up the tank in my Edge a LOT. How far i everyone going on a tank of gas? Basically I feel like the tank should be larger than it is. My other problem is that the twin turbos are addictive, so I have my foot in the gas quite a bit, which obviously doesn't help. So I think I am getting about 325 miles out of a tank if I am lucky? I feel like a range of at least 375-400 would be a lot more 'comfortable'.
  5. Traded my 2012 Chevy Volt for my new Edge Sport. The Volt was an amazing commuter car. I literally got 1000 miles between fill ups of the 9 gallon tank- and actually I'd typically pump in only 7 gallons since I'd rarely run the tank even close to dry. It also never went in for repairs, in fact I still had 70% life left on the original oil that came with the car- so zero oil changes either! Issues it had were that it only sat 4 so was tight on space, and it wasn't very exciting to drive. My Edge Sport has solved those two problems
  6. I have them on my Sport and honestly you aren't missing much. They rarely activate when it rains, so I have to adjust the sensitivity constantly to get them to do their job. Then like others have mentioned, they will occasionally throw a wipe in at seemingly random times on sunny days. I have auto wipers on my BMW and Caddy and they both work significantly better than the Edge auto wipers...
  7. I posted this in one of the threads somewhere so my apologies if this is a duplicate. My Edge Sport was bone dry when I bought it after several rains, or so I thought. I checked it religiously after it rained with a dry paper towel that I would press into the carpets- happily no moisture ever appeared at all.. Then I had the dealer 'fix' done one day after I received the letter about it. During which time the dealer had the car for 3 days I think. After that my mind was at ease and I rarely checked it because it was always dry to me... Fast forward about a month, and my beautiful new car began to smell like wet dog and dirty gym socks?? I immediately checked the carpet on the driver side and sure enough it was sopping wet. I honestly think the moisture extended into the back seat carpet area on the drivers side as well, but it was slightly damp, not wet like the front. So my Edge sits torn apart at the dealer, its been 5 days so far and the service manager told me today that the water infiltration into the cabin appeared 'significant' and they are waiting from direction from Ford on how much 'further they should go with this'...So overall not good news. I'm pretty disappointed, as I honestly feel that someone, somewhere at Ford knew they were actively selling $45k leaky cars to unsuspecting people. IF I end up being offered another vehicle from Ford as a replacement, I don't think I will want another Edge Sport (If that option is even on the table). I'd have a lot more trust in a Explorer Sport or even a Focus ST- Anything that isn't a completely new design from a completely new factory. Clearly not all the kinks have been worked out there yet. Otherwise I hope I can just walk away from a Ford vehicle altogether. I cross shopped a Subaru STI and a Lexus nx200t F sport- Both of which I am sure would not have me dealing with problems like this!
  8. I have to agree that the factory HID's aren't great. Since we live in a more rural area, we don't even consider a car unless is has HID or LED headlights. I have a Caddy and BMW, both with HIDs, and they are absolutely better in every way than the Ford units. It looks like our Edges use D3S size bulbs, so I may pickup a set of Osrams from theretrofitsource.com even though they are not cheap! I'd love to take a look under the hood of my edge to see how difficult it looks to replace bulbs, but unfortunately it has a water leak, and has been at the dealer all week If I ever get it back I will take a look.
  9. I had previously 'thought' and posted in other threads that my Edge Sport was leak free. I took it in to the dealer 'just in case' immediately after receiving the letter from Ford to be sealed again for good measure. Well sadly the other day I began to notice a foul odor in the cabin, and sure enough my drivers side footwell etc is somehow soaked. I also have what I think is the beginning of mold growing under my drivers side floormat. So who knows how bad the actual carpet is?? The car smells like dirty gym socks! Needless to say I am pretty upset, as all of us who have been affected are I'm sure. My wife is pregnant and I have 2 year old that we constantly ferry around, so I am less than thrilled at the prospect of mold etc growing inside a brand new $50k vehicle. I've contacted Tricia, the Ford rep on this site, and my dealer to see what can be done. In the meantime I have contacted a lawyer as well. For extra fun I have family coming to visit tomorrow for the next week, and now it looks like we will be a vehicle short. So my advice to anyone who thinks their Edge is sealed 'good and tight' is to be very vigilant. I checked the car constantly by pressing a dry paper towel on the carpets anytime it rained and it was fine for quite a while, until it wasn't!! It's too bad as I really like the car, but at this point i don't want it anymore. For $50k I could have bought a different car that I enjoy just as much, and can actually be driven in the rain...what a concept!
  10. Just got my Sport back after it spent 2+ days at the dealer having the A-pillar 'goo' applied. Never saw any leak issues with mine, despite torrential rain here in Colorado, but it's nice to know it's been sealed up for good measure. In case anyone missed it, build date for mine is 4/14/2014 at Oakville (vin# 27355)
  11. Thanks for posting the letter from Ford! I dropped mine off to get it checked tonight. Still no signs of a leak, even after heavy rains and several flood and tornado warnings today. It'd be interesting to get a record going of build date, 'leak' vs. 'no leak', and maybe trim level...
  12. Yes that was my concern as well. So yesterday we had torrential rain from about 8am until noon, and I'm happy to report that my Edge remains bone dry. Still going to get it checked- but at least I have dry feet. lol I am wondering if my Sport was addressed before I took delivery? As ever since I picked it up, it has had a REALLY strong 'new car smell' to the point of being 'too much' of what is normally considered a good thing. I guess I'll let the dealer figure it out...but I really love driving it! So I hate to think what kind of loaner they will give me Thanks to everyone who is contributing very useful info on this topic!
  13. Just checked my 2015 RR Sport that I bought last weekend. And while it is not 'pouring' rain at the moment, it is drizzling a bit and I purposely drove through a huge (30ft wide by 100ft long x 10in deep) puddle that consistently forms near my house 3 times, at varying speeds, and so far the foot-wells, under the rear seats, and under the spare tire are bone dry. Happily I see no residue etc from earlier in the week either so I 'think' I am safe. Build date for mine is 4/14/2014 at Oakville (vin# 27355) https://www.etis.ford.com/selectedVehicleDetails.do Does say it needs the 'A pillar leak inspection' so I will definitely bring it in for a closer look at the dealer. I usually try to steer clear of first year new models, but my other lease was up and I just loved the Sport from the minute I saw and drove it. It's another lease, and under warranty of course, so I am not super worried about it, other than it will be a huge hassle to get fixed that I'm sure I'd rather not deal with. This is my 1st new Ford, and my 3rd American built car ever, so I am hoping I am not too disappointed with it. So far I love it!
  14. Hi All, I'm new here and just got my Edge Sport. Loving it so far! It's plenty roomy, great looking, super quiet, and hauls butt! As far as the LKA, I first experienced this new technology on the Autobahn in a rental Mercedes, and now in my Edge. I have to say that this is a feature I turned off right away and here is why...What's to stop the car from 'correcting' you and your loved ones right back into something you are attempting to steer around? In Germany, I had someone drift into my lane while cruising at about 100mph- enough that I needed to swerve slightly over the left lane markings, and sure enough the smart 'state of the art' car tried to 'nudge' me back into 'my lane'? This seems to be a dubious technology at best, and while it 'seems' like a good idea, I can think of plenty of situations where I do not want a mindless electronic box steering at all on my behalf. I can't imagine there won't be a lawsuit surrounding this feature sooner or later. Anyone else?? I'm no lawyer but it just seems there are just as many 'cons' and there are 'pros' to this feature.
