Why does Consumer Reports show that the 2007 Edges have significant Transmission and Drive problems?
Can anyone explain why?
I have an Escape and I am looking into an Edge.
Ford DID NOT increase the amount of $S they spend on ADVERTISING donations with CONsumer reports!

We put ours on Mix, floor and dash.
Then manually close the dash vents, works just ok nothing great .

I read an article a few weeks ago about incentives going AWAY in the near future.
Manufacturing capacity is DOWN, inventory is DOWN and the economy is UP.

I don't know if its possible with the Edge, but my dad busted the mirror on his Cadillac Seville. We got another one cheap off ebay, but it was the wrong color. I figured out I could just pop the mirror out of the old housing and replace the broken mirror (the housing itself was fine). So I'm wondering if you can do the same with the Edge. Just pop in the mirror with the blindspot insert in the current Edge housing.
It's an easy IDY.

I miss the obvious "new posts" link ... oh, I see it now in upper right corner "View New Content"- on a 30" monitor, that gets a bit lost way out there and not as part of the main navi
wish I could delete the Social Media section from my view - no value to me
wish I could delete or move to the bottom the Recent Gallery Images - little value to be as the first thing I see every time I log in

I have been reading that the 2010 Edge uses an FL500 Motorcraft oil filter. Has anyone been able to locate these in stores or online other than a dealer? If so what kind of prices have you paid for one?

Try this, it's for an 09 but it will get you there.

Next time you're at your auto supply ask for an 09 Edge oil filter.

They're glued on so you can't get them off.
I'm guessing they glue em on so they can't fly off
and
so they can call them chrome clad instead of what they are, $800 plastic hub caps.

This heater core problem is starting to look like one of those in-betweens.
Enough Edge/MKXes escaped with DEFECTIVE core’s that it generated a TSB, but not enough to call us all in.
Having spent the past 40 yrs with a legal professional (she’s not going to see this or I would have to spend the next 4 HOURS legalizing this post) I see lawyers all over this thing.
Some VP said “we have a problem send the letter”
The LawyerS say "you can’t do that” because 10% of ALL the Edge/MKXes ever sold will come in the next day with heater problems.
VP says "what do you suggest"
LawyerS say “we need a make um feel good TSB”
“when the 10% show up we’ll do a flush and refill” it’s NOT going to stop the defective cores from failing but it’ll make um feel good

Some dealers around here install an after market alarm in all of their cars.
Check with your salesperson maybe your “2007 Ford Edge that was a courtesy car” has an after market.
Or maybe you were seeing a reflection from some other blinking light.
My bet is on the add-on alarm.

Why are you even posting on this thread ? You have adding nothing for the OP's question but your stupid opinion and non-topic issue. Some of us were not as fortunate as you to get a good one. The wife constantly reminds me of my bad decision to get the Edge when she wanted a Murano but I insisted on supporting Ford in their time of need so I can not get over it until she does. I wish I had looked here before buying as I would not even be here now. Keep on topic or go away.

Get over it, it's time to move on, PLEASE!!it is truly amazing how many views and post under those PTU threads... and yet we all got a letter about the heater core issue, an issue I never heard of until I got the letter :eek5::yup:
I would recommend something other than an Edge - it looks nice but I think Ford rushed it to market. They were initially going after the Nissan Murano market but the quality just isn't up to par. Since the Edge was introduced there are so many other choices out there.If I were to do it again, I would certainly shop around more.
My Edge is just over a year old and I have had the drive shaft changed, both PTU seals, and now I am waiting to get a flush on the heater core. I expect more surprises in the New Year to see what other problems will crop up.
Do get sucked into the 0% financing over 60 or 72 mo.

Get over it, it's time to move on, PLEASE!! Our 08 finally had to go in. We had a squeaking right rear shock, replaced at 27+K miles.
I do find myself arguing with Sync, she keeps wanting to call steFANEEE (Stefani) instead of Steve.

I think your faux wood dash looks like shit and you think the weather here is shit.
Opinions are just like aholes. At least the snow here is real.
BTW the dash piece is actually brushed aluminum. The shifter surround is plastic.
I'm just not a fan of any wood. I had the choice of a REAL wood dash trim on my Audi and I opted for the carbon fiber. If I wanted to make a change I'd just have the OEM trim wrapped in REAL carbon fiber. Stickers don't do it for me... even the 3D kind.

Thanks...likely a solution - albeit far from aesthetic... rather frustrating to think that I am unable to use the factory designed and installed roof system... a bit unreal that Ford rolled this out with such a bad design.
I don't think it would be possible for Ford to accommodate ALL BOX, BIKE, rack etc manufactures.
I would think it be their responsibility to fit their hardware to Ford.
I’ve added lots of add-ons over the years some fit some didn’t just kept looking till I found one I liked that fit.
Basic example:
I wanted to use Silverstar low beam headlights in my 05 F250.
Sylvania didn’t start making them till 07, NOT Fords fault!

Every time I see an Edge or MKX with UPGRADED :D wheels I dislike our hub caps even more!
But the tow vehicle needs new tires, SO wheels will be put off till we need tires for the MKX.

The MKT & MKX live in two different worlds. The are far apart in price, size & equiptment. The only real issue with the MKX is that it shares the same engine with the Edge. It seems that Lincoln is putting less emphasis on marketing the MKX these days. That's probably because its starting to fall behind its competition.
Not too sure about different worlds, different time Yes.
If the MKT had been available in 08 … maybe we would be on the MKT forum??
6K$'s difference is not out of sight we’ll be looking in a couple of yrs if not sooner.
Haven't seen any 3rd row seating worth ANYTHING except to Soccer Moms, USELESS for traveling!
