I thought the 55 watt would be too bright also. I got the 35 watt w/4300K bulbs. The harness provided by Restro had the resistors wired in to keep the "bulb out light" from comming on.
When did you get yours?
I'm going to contact Retro to see if they have an "upgrade kit."
Thanks

I installed a kit from Retro-Solutions, 55W 6000K.
55W it too bright BUT the 35W kit will light the “bulb out indicator.”
6000K is TOO blue; Todd at Retro swapped them for 5000K.
Send Todd an email sales@retro-solutions.com , he can answer any questions you have.

The bulb does move but NOT much, not going to be a problem.

They don't do anything "randomly'. But if you want to keep blaming Ford because you were too lazy to open the owner's manual then go right ahead.

Found this web site. :happy feet:
I’ve already ordered two muffler bearings and some blinker fluid. :hyper:

I’m curious why did you think the FL400s would work?
I few years ago when I switched back to Ford.
For the first oil change I was surprised to find out that the good ole FL1 was NOT the filter I needed.

I tried it yesterday and I found my ford edge has the brake override system. I'm so glad that we didn't buy a Lexus RX350 :hyper:
What year is your Edge?
Just for grins I tried it on our 08 MKX.
One foot HARD on the gas.
Other foot HARD on the brakes.
=
The motor DID NOT slow down at all!
BUT the brakes DID slow us down and would have maybe :eek5: stopped us BUT I didn't want to burn them up.

Have you considered stainless steal brake lines?
They WILL make a difference.
Take a look at this link.
I put some on my 1981 motorcycle…WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
Send this Co. an email, they may work with you for some “will fit” lines.

Here are their rotors for the Edge.

To Toyota an empire is at stake. Our little lives are meaningless compared to what they have to lose.
Walking into work this morning I remembered that last month a car accelerated and wound up on the sidewalk in front, and it was a Toyota. Luckily no one was walking there. No one thought much of it because this kind of thing happens often here. Last year a BMW wound up in the dining room of a sandwich shop and a Mini Cooper rolled out of its spot and halfway down the parking lot.
ding ding ding you're the winner.
You're the first person I've met/seen/talked to who has ACTUALLY SEEN/KNOW OF a Toyota sudden acceleration event.
I do know an Audi mechanic who has worked on Audi’s that have suffered sudden acceleration HOWEVER he could NEVER duplicate the condition.

Be very very careful when you only have the e-brake to use. If you lock up the rear wheels, the vehicle will swap ends and you'll simply hit whatever you are aimed at with the back end!
e-brakes are gone... They are now a Parking brake, they are very small and can't/won't lock up the rears at much more than walking speeds.

There were 2 previous Toyota issues involving floor mats and gas pedals. Consensus seems to be that while those may have been problems, they weren't the cause of vehicles suddenly accelerating out of control. A professor has demonstrated that it's possible to induce the same sudden acceleration by causing an electrical short between the 2 sensors in the gas pedal. In other vehicles a similar short either did nothing or caused a computer fault code to be thrown (recognizing that the signals indicated a problem) whereas in the Toyota the computer misinterpreted it as Wide Open Throttle.
The problem is Toyota is still refusing to admit that it's an electronic/software problem. However, many Toyota owners who have had their pedals fixed continue to experience sudden acceleration.
The crap is about to hit the fan. As bad as it's been up to this point, the fact that Toyota is still covering up this electronics/software problem is getting to the point of being criminal negligence.
And yes - Ford seems to have brake override in the software that cuts the throttle if the brakes are depressed. Toyota does not have this and that is yet another oversight.
In the software business, Toyota has done what we call "sunny day" engineering and testing which means you don't plan for unexpected problems or potential failures. e.g. Mr. Toyoda has refused to recognize the professor's tests because he "intentionally sabotaged" the vehicle and that just would not happen under normal use. I've heard that line all too often from developers - "Oh, that would never happen." Except that it usually does - at the worst possible time.
It would seem that after being invited to demonstrate his “sudden acceleration” the professor has switched cars and the method he uses to creat his sudden acceleration.
Copied from here
“Officials with Toyota said in a written statement to various international media outlets it has spoken with Gilbert but says the claims he is now making are different and concern a different vehicle than those they originally spoke about.
"Toyota was surprised to learn Mr. Gilbert appears now to be making a different claim regarding the electronic throttle system and in a vehicle other than as described to Toyota last week," the company said. "Although it is difficult to tell from the footage used in the story, Mr. Gilbert appears to be introducing a different external and artificial method to manipulate the throttle."
Toyota has requested to evaluate the Avalon used in the demonstration and test the method used by Gilbert in the report.”

One woman claims that she WASN’T texting and the REAL brakes wouldn’t stop her BUT that little bitty “emergency brake” DID!
“Parking brake
Apply the parking brake whenever
the vehicle is parked. To set the
parking brake, press the parking
brake pedal down until the pedal
stops.”

Ford has really stepped up the past several years!
Ford started getting better in 1999!
HHhhMMmm
Does Ford still own Volvo?

no elevation
and GPS can include elevation, but has nothing to do with it nor was made to show/include elevation as that has no bearing on determining location in a GPS.
That 1K $’s or what ever we DID NOT spend on the factory nav gets bigger every day.
Our el’cheepO Magellan RoadMate says we are at 875’ (Dallas/Ft worth area) above sea level; our property in Colorado is 8850’, etc.
Not very important JUST another example of why Ford, Nissan, etc, etc nav systems are not worth the $’S.
OH one other little item. Just checked with Magellan….. $79.99 to update the software.
I REALLY would prefer to have a factory installed nav system BUT until they catch up with the hand held units, I’ll save my $’s.

Question for Sirius/XM users???
Terrestrial radio has been fairly successful for a few years living of off commercials.
Click here to see where Ron Chapman (Dallas Ft worth radio disc jockey) lives.

Why didn’t XM go to commercial broadcast ?

I changed ours in Dec., it's a very easy DIY. BUT you have to get it at a Ford dealer.

January 28, 2010 Ford announced------
"Full year net income of $2.7 billion, or 86 cents per share, a $17.5 billion improvement from a year ago.
Pre-tax operating profits of $454 million, a $7.3 billion improvement from a year ago"
Gotta love it when a plan comes together. Way to go Mulally.
I bought a few shares of F (wish it was more) @ $2.00, then a few more (wish it was more) @ $2.86.
Then sold a few @ $7.72 and more @ $9.20.
The tax man is going to really like me.

:yup:
ablb, I appreciate your answer on this topic, but to the non technical world, any problem with a wire is commonly if inaccurately described as a short. I gave up correcting people on this long ago.
ME TOO!
I usually get this REAL serious look of my face  and say
"WWwHHhEEeee thank goodness you have a short and not a LONG it could be really serious if you have a LONG!! "

Update!!! We went to change the bulb last night (it was showing that it was "out"), and as soon as we removed the rear light cover, it came back on! Apparently there is some sort of short in the wire...we adjusted it a little, replaced the light cover, and it is working fine now. If it happens again, we're taking it back to the dealership as the car is still under warranty. Saving the $5 bulbs for a later day.
A short would cause the fuse to blow, an open ( bad connection in the socket) would act like a blown bulb.
Lots of discussion about burnt tail light sockets, did you notice any discoloration of the socket?

funny you ask...an ASE buddy of mine and I changed out (at the same time) an oil pump, water pump, cam/crank seals, tranny/oil pan gaskets, timing belt, struts, rotors, etc on my '92 SC400, but after I d/l the Ford service manual, took the battery and tray & intake off and figured how I'm going to snake the old booster out (ABS lines in the way), I said to hell with it. Sucking out fluid, bleeding the brakes, breaking my neck to get under the d/s dash...screw it, I'll let the "pros" handle it. Best believe I pondered the idea of doing it myself.
YEA that’s why I asked.
Boosters look easy BUT I usually end up bleeding because of the sharp edges on the steering brackets…etc.

correct *sigh*
Do you do your own maintenance or repairs?
Did you consider changing it yourself?
Thanks

Let’s see…
Apple …...... iPod :chairshot:
Microsoft … Sync :devil2:
HHhMMm :gang:
Seriously, start taking some mental notes when your radios shut down. (We don’t have an iPod, our BMW with an add on adapter burned the iPod display out)
Example: Radio, iPod on..radio shuts down at 2:05
Stopped at red light
or
At 2:07 you receive a call answered by sync
or
Making a full lock left turn in a parking lot

The fast blinking usually occurs when a bulb is about to burn out.
Just replace that bulb and everything will be back to normal.

We need some on here every once in a while!
