  1. I've been using Fram filters for almost 30 years and have never had an issue.

I too used them for years with no problems, NOT sure how that worked for the next owners?

I even used a few with Teflon in them, evidently THAT was not a good idea.

  2. I had an intermittant turn signal, rear drivers side. I switched the lamp out with the opposite side and now I have no rear turn signals or brake lights ?

The brake switch is ok as the brake light on the tail gate works.

Lamps are all ok, they are on and I've checked them with a meter.

    It's an '08 limited

Please help as the OPP are bound to pull me if I drive it !

Can we have a little more info?

“Lamps are all ok, they are on and I've checked them with a meter.”

    Lamps = tail lights?

“I've checked them with a meter.”

    The brake/turn bulb?

    Now a suggestion.

Rule # 1 “always test the tester” (not your meter)

Go buy new bulbs and install 1 in the passenger side only.

Check to see if it works.

    Good luck

  3. We have almost zero control of the transmission in our older Edge/MKX’s.

When going down steep grades you can turn OD off, this helps VERY LITTLE.

Eventually the transmission will start to downshift.

But by then you’re either going too fast or you’re on the brakes.

NOT good at all in the mountains.

  4. SOLD We just bought new wheels and tires, so these need to be out of my garage.

No tires, the Pirelli's were pretty much worn at 48K.

No TPMS, moved them to the new wheels.

1 wheel is a little pitted, in Texas???

Price is negotiable and I'll pay the shipping. Sold

  5. We’re in TX. didn’t even know the dealers still offered undercoating.

    I may look into this.

Long ago we would have it done, NOT for corrosion but for noise deadening.

    Good Luck

Maybe our resident detail specialist will have good news.

  6. Just because a company says it will fit or it's for your edge double and even triple check! My intake? No good! My exhaust? No good! Engine lights on,blinking etc... Had to remove everything and go back to stock. It appears the company's I've delt with just assumed that a 2010 is the same as a 2011 and I can tell you for a fact through trial and error there not.

Piping is different size the a 2010 for just about everything. That's all,I've learned my lesson and will be waiting for some mods to come out that have been tested on a 2011 before going through this again.

Have you talked to a GOOD custom exhaust shop?

We have one in N TX. I’ve used a couple of times, not on the MKX.

    Here’s one in NY.

    I googled

    "mandrel bent New York”

    "mandrel bent exhaust New York”

    Might be worth a call?

  7. I'm having a weird problem with my 08 Lincoln MKX AWD. It's happened only twice in the last few weeks.

When you turn the car on and start to drive, it feels like the transmission is stuck between drive and neutral, you can floor the gas pedal and the car will move forward but not very fast. If I pull over, shut the car off and turn it back on, it runs fine afterwards. When the problem happens there are no lights on the dash and the shifter is clearly in drive. Could maybe even be a throttle position sensor issue, but either way it should throw a code.

Anyone else have this problem or heard of it?

    We haven’t had that problem.

But have had a couple of EXTREME hard down-shifts at 65+ MPH and some ruff shifts when making turns at red lights.

We had them check and document their finding…”Can’t duplicate problem.”

We then went straight to the finance manager and asked if he could meet or beat "this" internet ESP quote.

He said “Yes he could” so we bought it (less than $500.00), with the comment “It’s still your transmission.”

    He just smiled and shrugged.

  8. I found the top of the rear shocks while installing trailer wiring. happy%20feet.gif

Removal of the side panels in the cargo area reveals the tops of the shocks.

For some reason they are double nutted. This is the first time I have seen a factory installation like this.

Oh well thanks for all the mechanical geniuses who contributed to the question.stats.gif

    Hay thanks mechanical genius. :shades:

Ive been waiting on someone to DIY this.

Im going to change ours later this summer, we have 46K miles and they are noticeably wearing out.

WE DO live on a gravel rd every summer.

What shock did you (are you going to) use?

    Monroe are not my favorite.

I've had good luck with KYB and Bilstein.

    Thanks

  9. http://www.bullyonline.org/related/cyber.htm

"Serial bullies, whose behaviour profile you'll find in full at Bully OnLine, harbour a lot of internal aggression which they direct at others. "

"The objectives of bullies are Power, Control, Domination, Subjugation. They get a kick out of seeing you react. It doesn't matter how you react, the fact they've successful provoked a reaction is, to the bully, a sign that their attempt at control have been successful. After that, it's a question of wearing you down. The more your try to explain, negotiate, conciliate, etc the more gratification they obtain from your increasingly desperate attempts to communicate with them. Understand that it is not possible to communicate in a mature adult manner with a disordered individual who's emotionally retarded."

"The Number One rule for dealing with this type of behaviour is: don't respond, don't interact and don't engage. This is not as easy to do as it sounds. It's a natural response to want to defend yourself, and to put the person right. However, never argue with a serial bully; it's not a mature adult discussion, but like dealing with a child or immature teenager; whilst the serial bully may be an adult on the outside, on the inside they are like a child who's never grown up - and probably never will. Serial bullies and harassers often have disordered thinking patterns and do not share the same thoughts or values as you."

Note: I just broke "The Number One rule"

  10. :yup:

I HAVE A 2010 EDGE AWD WHEN ITS COLD I DRIVE TO A LIGHT AND STOP SUDDENLY YOU GET A THUMP IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN STOPPED IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE TAP YOUR REAR BUMPER ONLY WHEN ENGINE IS COLD ANY BODY HAVE THAT PROBLEM ONLY 6500 MILES.

One time last summer while passing someone on a 2 line hwy.

During the down shift it felt like someone rear ended us.

A dozen times in town, usually making a turn from a red light we get a little nudge.

We had the dealer check it.

    “No codes/can’t reproduce problem.”

So we bought the extended warranty and told him “it’s going to be Fords transmission for 100K :yup: now.”

  11. Hi. looking for hid kit for my edge. thought retro-solutions was good vendor till i read this - problems. should i by from retro or from xd sense xd is in canada likes me?

    I am from Driveaccord,

Please don't try to put the blame on the people once again. Driveaccord has a whole thread dedicated to you and your company. There are currently 6 pages, I highly doubt that an ongoing discussion of 6 pages is "just nothing". In addition, I have emailed you 2 times, in the past couple of weeks regarding my HID ballasts or bulbs that do not work and keep going off, you still have not answered and are blatantly ignoring me. Others have tried contacting you as well, but you ignore. You were on Driveaccord on Wednesday, yet you never answered or commented in the thread to help people out with their problems, you just ignore once again.

In addition, you set yourself appart from the competition by stating that you have "Lifetime Warranty", to me Sir that is, excuse my French, Horse-shit. How is one supposed to get their so called "Lifetime Warranty" when you do not answer and repeatedly ignore people?

Every time someone has a problem, it is never your ballasts or your items, it has always been the users fault, which I dont believe is true. In addition I highly doubt your HID's are German made, high quality as you call them, or else they wouldn't be flickering and causing trouble.

Why did you run away from Driveaccord? Is that a correct way to deal with peoples problems? You ran away from Driveaccord and became a sponsor on the Ford Forums thinking we wouldn't find you?

Your products are nothing but made in China I suppose, this guy here had trouble with your wiring harness and had to drive home with his parking lights:

    http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?37372-Lights-don-t-turn-on-or-turn-on-and-then-off&p=375541#post375541

Your lifetime warranty has become common even on ebay now, not because the kits are so amazing, but because, like you, sellers can purchase kits form China for a very low price, and can afford to give out a free one when the customer complains that it failed. This pretty much outlines everything:

    http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9101995&postcount=20

I, once again, want my warranty that you promise, but you run away from. I am informing people as so they will not fall into your "trap" as you call it.

thanks for that infos. i see xd gives 2 relay harness. is this better than one relay harness?

I'm from driveaccord forum as well. I brought two HID kits from RS. If the light don't fire up, the first thing Todd at RS tell you to do is to check the ground and check the ground again. Retrosolutions are nothing but relabel generic made in china kit, very similar quality as the 40 bux DDM hid kit. Their lifetime warranty is a sale gimmick. If they go belly up, who's going to cover the warranty of the kit?

Hay Todd, looks like our old friend BlazedUp has bought himself a "MADE in JAPAN."

Might be time for our over worked and under appreciated moderator to take a look?

FYI: Our HID’s are still doing more than I hoped!

And thanks for taking care of MY ops.

  12. I’ve told these stories here before, but they need to be told again every once in a while.

My son worked at a Honda dealership right out of high school.

He told me several times the %$#-lube across the street was their favorite customer.

They were good for at least 1 rebuilt motor a month.

A friend had the oil changed in his 1 yr old Mazda at a %$#-lube in Colorado Springs, on his way to Texas (in New Mexico) he checked the oil= no oil.

Put a quart in = no oil.

Did it again, same thing, etc.

    Motor started running REALLY bad.

Stopped at the next town and took 9 quarts OUT :censored: .

When he got back to Co. he stopped by the %$#-lube.

They said “ HA so that’s where the dip stick for that ford van went.

  13. Anyone ever get their dealer to fix this shifting issue? My wife's car is at the dealer now getting this looked at. I don't believe they will do anything unless they actually witness the hard shift. There is little to no chance that will happen and our warranty will probably be up in the next few months. Ours seems to do it when coming off of a coast and getting on to the gas lightly. It does it maybe once or twice a week.

We have a 2008 MKX AWD.

We told our dealer, as he was happily taking our $’s for the extended warranty.

“By the way the transmission is still shifting hard at times, SO it’s still your transmission for the next 50K.”

He didn’t act like it bothered him much; they’ll just bill Ford if/when it breaks.

I do sympathize with them, “If it AIN’T broke (at times) you can’t fix it."

  14. Do you guys find the same problem that the Edge MPG indicator is higher than the actual MPG?

My car is Ford SEL AWD 2010. And I bought it 3 weeks ago. Right after I got the car, I filled up the tank and reset the MPG indicator. Yesterday I filled up the second tank. The car indicator shows the average MPG is 10.9L/100km. While my own calculation is 12.5L/100km. Why is there such a big difference?

    YEP… You’re not alone.

I have hand calculated our MPG almost every tank.

Every once in a while they will come out the same.

And I distinctly remember the car actually getting better than I hand calculated a couple of times.

BUT for the other 138 of 148 recorded fill ups the MKX DOES NOT get as good as IT SAYS it does!

We’re at 43K miles now and are about to buy new tires

OEM Pirelli’s do 702 revolutions per mile

The Yokohama’s we’re looking at only do 698.

SO I’m expecting a change, not sure  which way?

  15. Yep, seen them. I'm afraid that if you flashed your lights at these people, they'd panic and drive off the road. Some people have no clue :banghead:

    PLUS 1

OFTEN when my morning ride pulls up at 6am (couple of times a week) I have to tell him to turn his lights on.

"Some people have no clue :banghead:"

But those BLUE lights sure look GOOD!

When we are driving around at night I make him turn them DOWN, I can't see out the windshield and THAT SCARES ME :titanic:

Wonder where the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is…OH I forgot they are IN BED with the Asian manufactures!!
