  1. Akirby - just to point out - there are 4 ovals in this section of the forum so far, they are in your posts. If you respond to this than that will add another one. I will drop this now, but if you can't see them then see an eye doctor, since they are a copy of the Ford oval even the font is the same.
  2. Most people now days carry a smart phone, seems that the blutooth connection to vehicle could be used to unlock when you get the phone near the vehicle. Would need to be an addition added to the vehicle, possibly to the OMD-II. This may however cause to much drain on the vehicle battery by having the bluetooth on all the time, but the sensor for the keyfob must be on all the time for that to work. Is the unlocking possible to access thru the OMD-II? I carry several credit cards in my wallet but after a year they start to crack from flexing and the plastic aging so they have to be replaced.
  3. Just to let people know about the amount of songs that work on the USB. I have a 2014 Ford Taurus Limited with Sync2 MFT on V3.8 software. I've been using a 32GB USB formatted exfat with 3,600 songs on it and it's been working fine. The initial index took about 20 minutes or so, after that each time I restart the vehicle it only takes about 1 minute to index. I have 5 *.m3u files on it for my 5 playlists and I can select either one and they work fine. I tried going to 6,000 songs by adding another large playlist and ran into problems with it re-indexing on each restart. This doesn't solve your problem, if the power resets don't help then you probably have a hardware failure.
  4. This forum shows the Ford Oval display several places which leads people to believe that it is a Ford Motor Company forum, that is misleading and probably illegal to use their registered trademark. That's why a lot of us on here have complained about some of the things that Ford should be doing on this forum. Years ago when I had my 2009 Mercury with the first SYNC system in it a forum similar to this one, which a Ford representative answered questions from time to time, actually came up with an answer after several owners complained. Then Ford release a software patch to modify the SYNC software and that rep. posted the information on the forum. This forum should at least state in the heading that it is not affiliated with Ford Motor Company. Since I now know this information I will not be complaining on it and just used it to get information from other owners.
  5. Is this forum part of the Ford Motor Company? Does anyone from Ford review this forum?
  6. They didn't ask and I didn't think to tell them USA.
  7. I contacted the "Naviextras" support and they sent me back that Ford Sync3 Navigation map upgrades are thru this site https://why-update-ford.azurewebsites.net/ When I go on that site it shows OFFICIAL FORD SYNC® 3 NAVIGATION MAP UPDATE WEBSITE, BUT THAT SITE DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO DOWNLOAD THE MAP LOADER?
  8. I have my Ford Edge connected to my house wi-fi and therefore do not get that message.
  9. The site for Anderson Koch Ford says it's an ESP warranty from Ford on their quote?
  10. Updated my 2017 Ford Edge Titanium today to revision V3.0 using a USB stick. Installation took about 18 minutes. Fixed - When using a USB to play MP3 the display of source's now shows the actual USB name instead of the long multi character name. The indexing seemed a lot faster and upon several restarts the music played starting where it left off. UnFixed - It still takes about 12 minutes to reindex the USB each time there is a restart even though the USB plays the songs OK. I have the same type USB and exact number of songs and playlists on my 2014 Ford Taurus with Sync2 MFT and it only takes about 1 minute for the reindex upon a restart. (3600 songs)
  11. Sync3 revision V3.0 is being released on the owners site now. I just updated my 2017 Ford Edge Titanium.
  12. This forum was started for Navigation upgrades to Sync 3 but since the software update to V3.0 was mentioned, the V3.0 revision of the Sync software (not Navigation maps update) for my 2017 Ford Edge Titanium is available on-line or by wi-fi download today. I used a 32G USB formatted as exfat and it took about 18 minutes for the update. The *.xml file was not put on my USB when the update finished but the update was reported back to the owner site thru wi-fi. Now we need Ford to follow thru with a greatly needed update to the Navigation maps.
  13. Some owners on the Ford Escape site posted today that the v3.0 is released on the ford owner site for 2017 Escape's. Hope we get the update soon for the Ford Edge.
  14. I don't understand your saying that sync 3 is just rolling out? Sync 3 has been in vehicles starting with Ford model year 2016 (partial) and full in model years 2017 & 2018. That's 3 model years. That means that it was at least developed in 2014 or 2015 at the latest.
  15. That site does say Ford Sync 3, but it's been saying updates are on their way for over 2 months. If you go to their "map update portal" site and search, there is nothing about Ford or Sync3 listed anywhere. It maybe that there eventually will be updates there but Ford is taking their sweet time about it, over 3 model years of vehicles and still no method to update maps. https://www.naviextras.com/shop/portal/newLogin
  16. I guess we wouldn't be talking so much about free or paid for updates if Ford would provide the initial map that is up to date when you purchase the vehicle not 2-3 years behind. Also read my last paragraph above, where Ford doesn't even provide a method for us to get an update for the navigation maps for SYNC3.
  17. You must work for Ford in some way since you seem to always stick up for Ford. To bad you don't use that to get us map updates. I believe that everyone on this site, other than you, would agree that for $800 we already paid for map updates in the up front cost. You can purchase a Garmin for $140 with lifetime map updates. Don't tell me now how much Ford has to go over the map data to ensure that it is correct before they place it out in vehicles, if they did all that checking than we shouldn't have vehicles that are brand new with maps that are 2-3 years old. The SYNC3 system in these vehicles is in it's 3 model year 2016-2018 and whether free or for purchase there is no method to even get map updates that we can find, even through dealers. The update process should have been setup 3 years ago prior to the first release of SYNC3. Any business in programming will setup a method to control revisions, update and also backup their software prior to releasing it. Even the free apps you down load on your smart phone have a method for revision and updating, although they use the phone manufacturer for the update process. Ford already had a method in place for the SYNC2 MFT so they could use the same company to offer the updates, it would just be by a different media, USB instead of SD cards.
  18. I don't know what you mean by "TANSTAAFL" but since we paid $800 for the Navigation I would say that we have paid for maps updates up front. Why should Ford not provide them to us when they provide them to other countries for Ford vehicles now.
  19. Well $150 for update would SUCK when Malaysian, Australia, and South Africa according to some web sites get free Ford Navigation updates for 5 years. Here's the South Africa web site: http://www.wheels24.co.za/OffRoad_and_4x4/Bakkie_and_SUV/ford-upgrades-ranger-everest-with-sync-3-navigation-and-more-20170411 Sounds like Ford doesn't care about us here in the USA where it was started. I sure hope that this site: https://ford.welcome.naviextras.com/ comes thru with the free navigation upgrades, at least for 5 years as in the other countries.
  20. Has anyone had warranty work done covered under the "Anderson Koch Ford" warranty after their original Ford warranty ran out, and did it cover as expected? Is it the same warranty if purchased thru the actual Ford Extended Warranty site?
  21. True Waze has to update their app. but Ford still needs to put out a released version of V3.0 so that customers with 2016 & 2017 vehicles will be able to use the Waze update when it gets released. Akirby - map updates are coming - yes I registered on the site you mentioned but if you check out the "naviextras.com" site there is nothing on it that lists any Ford vehicle for selection. Chevy and a few other vehicle brands are listed but not Ford. This still leaves us hanging with no update for maps and no revision V3.0. To say it's coming with no date attached is about as good as my dealer got from Ford where they told him an update for maps is coming but not how we would get the update and really not a definite firm date see my info below. Also no mention of V3.0 for 2016 & 2017 vehicle's. "I talked with the sales manager here in South Carolina and he called Ford. They told him that an update for the maps would be out sometime in March, he said they were very vague about when exactly and how. He also said that he had 2 other customers ask him the same question within the last week. Hope Ford follows thru and comes up with an upgrade."
  22. Ford needs to release the SYNC3 V3.0 update, it's been boot-legged on the web for several months now. It's suppose to add Waze Maps to the app-link. Ford also needs to release their update for the Navigation Maps.
  23. I thought that the naviextras site was for Australia fords. Is it also used for the USA fords?
  24. I talked with the sales manager here in South Carolina and he called Ford. They told him that an update for the maps would be out sometime in March, he said they were very vague about when exactly and how. He also said that he had 2 other customers ask him the same question within the last week. Hope Ford follows thru and comes up with an upgrade.
  25. That's true but when you need to buy a Titanium for the options you want (as in my case) you have no option not to pay the $800 for the Navigation. But why argue this point, Ford needs to get off their Butt and get an update out for the Navigation and also fix their sites that keep saying that it is up to date when it is clearly not. I read on another site that a guy (saying he is from U of M) completed his work on the Navigation update back in Oct. 2017 so why is Ford holding it up. I don't understand why they don't just switch to Garmin or Tom Tom for their map updates and just let us get their map data on-line to load into our vehicles with life time updates. Ford won't have to be in the loop after they sell the vehicle. I've a Garmin NUVI that I bought years ago and it gets quarterly updates and works fine. It won't have all the bells and whistles that Waze has but at least it would be more up to date than the present Ford Navigation and wouldn't eat up your cell data or require you to have a cell phone and connect it.
