  1. I have an 07 Edge with 137,000 miles.(It sat in my garage 2 days without me starting it prior to this happening) this morning it didn't start right up as it usually does, instead it cranked over fast (battery is good) but didn't want to start, I cranked it about 10 seconds, then stopped cranking, then maybe another 10 and stopped cranking, then on the 3rd try of cranking over good and fast it finally started up. I drove it about 2 miles and it ran great with no problems. came back home and shut it off, it started right back up that time and several more times with no problem. I let it sat for 2 1/2 hours, went out and started it right up again no problem, drove about 4 miles to get some Lucas fuel injector cleaner, added it to the tank and filled up with gas, I was at almost 3/4 tank before fill up. shut it off and restarted a few more times with no problem...could it be my purge valve failing? I didn't fill it with gas before this happened. could it be a fuel injector leaking down or the fuel pump check valve leaking down after the Edge sits a couple days. any help is appreciated...Thanks in advance.. Update: I let it sit over night from yesterday afternoon so total time sitting undisturbed was about 19 hours this time, got in and it started right up within 3 seconds, made a short trip and back home, it started up fine each time. So I guess the next test would be to let it sit for 2 days again if possible, I usually drive it somewhere every day. If it ends up being the fuel pump module assembly, I saw a couple posts (with pictures) somewhere on line where the 07 to 09 Edge has a fuel pump access panel under the carpet behind the drivers seat to allow access to the fuel pump without dropping the tank. back seat must be removed to do this. so that is in my favor if I do end up needing to replace the fuel pump module because of the check valve letting gas drain back and loosing fuel pressure. Thanks to any suggestions that anyone wants to post.

  5. Well, did you find and fix the problem, my 07 ford edge took a while to start this morning, had to crank it over for awhile, once started runs good and starts right back up, I read something about a possible fuel injector issue letting the fuel pressure bleed down. this is the first time my edge has done this, it sat for 2 days this time before I started it. I have it shut off now and will check it again later after it sits awhile. the check engine light is Not on.
  6. Both front wheel bearings have been replaced, now I have a nice quiet ride again. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the good advice macbwt, The tires were noisy and annoying and also I noticed some weathercracking starting in between the treads, got 50,000 miles out of them so I went ahead and had new tires put on today. Now I can hear the wheel bearing growling without having to listen to noisy tires at the same time. I made an appointment with the garage where I got the tires and the mechanic advised me to do both front wheel bearings at the same time so I gave him the go ahead. He is only charging $45 labor per wheel =$90 labor, about $140 for both Timken bearings. $60 for alignment = $ 290 Total, The Dealership wanted $295 to do just one side.. It seems to be growling louder that before but maybe that's because I can hear just the bearing noise now. and I really tell by turning the wheel to the right that it gets louder. How many miles do you think I can go before the rear ones start growling? I'm at 107,000 now.
  8. I checked my rear wheel bearings and had no play, I do have some tire noise but eliminated that noise temporarily by using my spare tire. once that tire noise was gone I could actually hear the bearing noise easier but it didn't seem as loud even though it still changed when turning steering wheel while driving..louder when turning right = more load on left wheel bearing... getting new tires first, these have 50,000 miles on them but have very even wear and still have some miles left on them..but I want to eliminate the noise...if wheel noise is still there replacing the bearing will be next.
  9. Did you replace the front wheel bearings yourself or have someone else do them? my 2007 Edge FWD has 107,000 miles now and I think my left front Wheel bearing is growling. I wish it was a bolt on hub/bearing assembly but it is Not...the wheel bearing is pressed in. I guess I will go ahead and get new tires first since one of them is noisy...used my spare wheel on left front to make sure it wasn't the tire causing the noise...noise was still there.
  10. I have a 2007 Edge/ front wheel drive. It sounds like a wheel bearing making a humming noise, it appears to be coming from the front, it starts at about 40-45 mph, gets louder at about 60 mph, then quiets down a bit above 70, while driving if i turn the steering wheel to the right it gets louder and then not as loud when I turn the wheel to the left, so this makes me think it's the front left wheel bearing, these are pressed in and I don't know if I want to tackle this job or take it to a garage and let them do it, since I don't have a press. I did jack up the front and could not find any play in the wheels on either side. I guess I should go ahead and check the rear bearings for play. I thought about buying a used steering knuckle with the spindle/hub and bearing all together, then buying a new wheel bearing and taking this to a machine shop and have them remove the old and install the new bearing, then I could still drive the edge until ready to swap out the this complete assembly myself. Not sure yet what I'm going to do.
  11. My 2007 edge 3.5 has 107,000 miles now, I first noticed the coolant level had dropped about a inch or less in the reservoir tank at about 105,000 miles, this is the first time ever, so I added distilled water to bring the level up to normal. so far so good, I have not found any leaks or smelled any coolant either.
