  1. Ok so here it goes, sunroof worked perfectly fine, I changed out all the interior lights with LED. Looks fantastic. Ever since I have done that, the sunroof opens, slowly, starts to open, stops, opens more stops. Only opens halfway and then stops. What is going in here??

  2. I still need to insulate the air box. I believe I will have much cooler intake air temp after sealing the box from the motor, as well as insulating. Just need to be mindful if it rains that my intake air is much lower than normal. But after considering that it rains maybe 10 -20 days out of the year where I live in ok with the location. I personally believe this will make a difference.

  3. I did not have Sony I had the audiophile system. Two tweeters in front pillars 2 6x8 in front doors and 2 6x8 in rear doors with an 8" sub behind passenger rear quarter trim with amp secured to the back of enclosure. There is also another component which is the control box for sync and I believe it controlled the factory sound processor as it had the input leads from the head unit and the output leads for the door speakers. The sub woofer leads are a single channel signal from head unit into factory amp which converts the signal to two channels that each go to the dual voice coil factory 8" sub. It sounded ok but the door speakers are paper crap and the driver is also pretty worthless. It is all gone now. I built my own audio system and replaced everything. I think the Sony system was completely different components and also added a few (I think 3 more) speakers. But again .. They are all factory components and are not built to give sound like a quality component is. As far as the enclosure... I know at some point they moved the sub to the driver side.. I'm not sure which year but I think it was '13 I could be wrong though. But if you are just wanting decent sound and if your edge has the spot for the enclosure I have... You don't really have any options other than stealth box from Jl audio which is 700 or so... Or can build your own enclosure as I did or can purchase a factory enclosure from ford or purchase the one I have which already holds a 10" driver.

  4. I didn't actually do anything to my Edge but did however receive a MagnaFlow CatBack Exhaust System. The workmanship is excellent. Jury is out on how it fits and if it adds to the vehicle. Amazon had these for $733 for the past 2 months. The market price had been running at $833. On Sunday Amazon's price dropped to $525, I pulled the trigger and literally watched MagnaFlow's quantity on hand drop from 6 to 5. A couple of days latter and the inventory is 0 and Amazon is saying they don't know when or if they'll get more in. Need a little warmer weather to crawl under it. It appears to be a very simple task.

It is very simple. The most difficult time you will have is removing the old exhaust mounting pins from the rubber hangers. Just use a little wd40 and I pried them off with a pry bar. Not very difficult. Have fun

  5. The issue beyond the cheap speakers is actually the head unit. It really doesn't matter if Sony or whoever puts their name on it... A factory built audio system is always going to protect the speaker. Meaning as you turn the volume up it is programmed to turn bass down. It ultimately will be your 1 constant tuning component that holds you back. Speaker swap is a must but I after changing speakers adding amps changing amps and adding a lc7i came finally to the conclusion that the factory head unit was not allowing me to get the tuning capabilities I wanted. But if many of your controls i.e. Climate control and others. There may not be an option as of yet. My head unit will do climate control vehicle info and a few others that I don't even have in my 10. Just have to see what your options are. But you kind of have to accept at some point that it's a factory system and it will never sound like you want it too.

  6. I know it will need an amp. I'm not sure if the 2013 subenclosure have an integrated amp on the box or if the amp is remote located.

Here is an example of a 2010 with amp on the sub. If this is the case. I'd just need to figure out if any of the wiring is pre-existing. Not sure if they use the same harnesses for the SEL and the Limited. Even if they do, the radio in the SEL might not send audio signals to the rear speaker like the limited radio does. I'm just now trying to understand common wiring and components.\

not only did my 10 have the amp mounted to the back of the enclosure it also has a DSP which is a seperate box located right next to the factory enclosure..if your set up is the same as mine i have the amp ,factory enclosure and the DSP. but honestly think you are setting the bar a bit low considering you have a blank canvas and your kind of looking to color on it with crayons when you could just get some paint and makje a piece of art...lol you like my artist analogy??

if your up to it i have a write up on a custom fiberglass enclosure i built in the location where the factory sub was. or you can always go buy a stealth box for 9000 dollars? jk they are 750 or something like that..still ridiculous.u can build one for about 200 bucks and a little patience.

  7. Hi guys,

I just purchased a bone stock 2013 Ford Edge SEL. In fact the dealer still has it installing a factory remote start.

I am a little disappointed to not get a limited with the full factory SONY and subwoofer.

Have people added the factory subwoofer to the stock SEL system with success. I'm asking the dealer right now if they have any audio options before delivering to me.

Any thoughts or help quick would be appreciated.

This is the audio display trim it currently has.

really just depends on how much you want to do...i didnt have the sony system in my 10 limited but i did have the audiophile system..4 doors 2 tweeters sub and amp...it is now all gone and nothing is factory..i do have a factory sub enclosure but it wont fit in your edge.i believe they switched locations in 13..i personally would not have them put in anything and build your own

  8. if you ever decide to install a new/used one sometime in the future, ping this thread. I can upload PDFs from the service manual. It's probably easier (and quicker) than changing the spark plug

that would be great!! i will def let u knw..ty

  9. It's a part of the shifter assembly. I might have a photo from my wife's MKX. It's not really needed so don't let it worry you. As you move the shifter, the roller moves down a ridged path. It add "feel" to the shifter when it's correctly located.

I figured it was part of the shifter... It was in between the panel and shifter assembly on the floor. Ty for the answer! Much appreciated. I didn't feel anything different about how the shifter operated but noticed the piece there one day. Thnx again:-)

  10. I think fit is kind of upset?

I'm over it. Just want people to think about how they get their point across. If I'm wrong I'll admit it. But if you try and make me feel stupid with smartass remarks and lame jokes I'm gonna fight back. It's human nature to be wrong, how you present your point determines if people grow and learn or if they become unwilling to ask . Do you think I am the first person in this forum to post an incorrect statement? And out of all of them how many were made to feel less than and never posted again? We are all here to trade knowledge not egos . Anyway I apologized to the ones I needed too and I'm passed it .
