  1. I fully agree that Ford does not sell these warranties to lose money, this is no different than any other type of insurance we buy. All of the companies that sell insurance do so only to make money for them. That being said I enjoy the fact that for the next 3 years after my original factory warrant expires, that I am fully covered for just about anything (except normal wear items) including all lighting ( which the original warranty does not cover). This will only cost me $290.00 a year for the last 3 years. This to me is well worth it on a vehicle that cost me $37,000.00 (using Ford X plan).
  2. I like the peace of mind that I get with an Ford Extended Warranty. I figure that these vehicles today are very high tech and very costly to repair. I bought a 6 year warranty ( which is actually only 3) after the original warranty expires. I purchased my warranty online from an Authorized Ford Dealer that sells factory ESP warranties a lot cheaper than most local dealers. I got the Premium Care with O deductible and I also got the lighting option which includes repair/replacement of LED & HID lamp assemblies and all bulbs. I just got 60,000 mile coverage which is fine for me, I average about 8,500 miles a year ( I'm retired ). My total cost was $870.00. If your interested, go online for a free quote from Lombard Ford. I found them to be the cheapest around, I bought a 6 year for my wife's 2010 Escape 6+ years ago from them.
  3. I really wasn't complaining about the rear wiper coming on when the front wipers are and and backing up. I wasn't aware of this feature until I noticed it for the first time the other day. As far as the front wipers activating the headlights, my previous vehicles also did this as does my wife's Escape. I always keep my lights in the auto on position on both vehicles, this just makes sense to me. The Edge has daytime running lights in this position, that is a great idea that will only help to make the vehicle more noticeable to others.
  4. I don't have the automatic wipers, but I find it strange that when I have the front wipers on and then put the vehicle in reverse that the rear wiper comes on even though it's shut off. I checked the manual and this is correct. page 78 in my manual. I've only had my Edge for 5 weeks with not a lot of rain so I just discovered this today. I also find the front wipers very strange in the way they move. I did find out that you can move the wipers manually when they're off. Just move from the down position to the side, good for checking and changing wipers.
  5. Not Chinese copy, Vehicle is Brand new 4 weeks old. I did buy a 3rd remote, but it is original factory supplied from www.carandtruckremotes.com . That 3rd remote is programmed and hidden in the vehicle wrapped in foil to hide it from computer. If I ever lose or misplace my remote, I can get in vehicle via the keypad and retrieve my back up and be good to go. It must stem from my Boy Scout days, Be Prepared. The sleeves for the fob that I ordered are from China, not my original fobs.
  6. I just went on ebay and did a search for a key fob cover 2016Ford Edge. I sent for 2 black silicone covers for $7.99 for 2 with shipping. I'm not sure how good they are but for that price, I figured to take a chance. I'm hoping that they will make the buttons less sensitive to being accidentally activated. They are from China so I don't know about the quality, time will tell. I just think that it's much too easy to have these fobs activate when they're in your pocket.
  7. enigma-2, Thanks for that link to the Ford Escape forum where so many others are having very similar issues with their liftgate. I would think that the Escape and the Edge are very similar in the liftgate design. Very interesting about that one about the material inside the case deteriorating and causing problems. My remote is new, vehicle just bought new 4 weeks ago.
  8. Thanks for the link to those previous posts about the similar mysterious openings of the hatchback. I was no where near the back of the vehicle before and after I went out and returned. I can only assume that I somehow hit that release button twice when putting the keys down. I truly can't imagine that it would open on it's own, but maybe there are gremlins lurking around.
  9. I have no explanation for how this happened ? Last night I went out for take out food, returned home and left keys on the counter. When I woke up this morning and looked out, I saw my rear hatchback open !!!. I don't remember picking up the keys at all and to have the rear hatch open from the fob I would have had to press that button twice ?? I'm still scratching my head over this. I have to assume that I somehow hit that button twice when putting the keys down ?? Is it all possible for that hatch to open on it's own ?? I would think not.
  10. I was just checking the oil on my 2016 2.0L Ecoboost and the markings on my dipstick are a little different than the ones I see in the manual on page 266. In the manual it looks like the criss cross markings go all the way from hole A to hole B. On mine the criss cross marks stop in the middle between A & B. That is where my oil level is now exactly between A & B at the top of the criss cross markings. I was just wondering if others see the same, am I about a half quart low or not ??
  11. I just went to go out and the Screen was blank, shut down, waited then restarted, screen was still blank. I backed out of the driveway and the back up camera turned on fine, but it stayed on when I went forward and didn't shut off. I pulled back in and shut down. I waited a couple of minutes went out, restarted and everything was back to normal ?? This was kind of scary for a moment. Was this just a glitch or a warning of things to come. I had 800 trouble free miles till now.
  12. If you have a 2016 like I do, all the info about this problem is on page 79 of your owners manual, Ford has a way with words about this natural occurrence ?
  13. Tjm623, I also have a 2016, I'm the one that started this post, so you may yet see that condensation after washing ??
  14. I may have answered my own question. I just looked in my Owners Manual on page 79, it mentions that very thing about condensation in exterior lamps. They claim that condensation is a natural occurrence, according to Ford a fine mist is acceptable. It's only when there is a puddle inside or there are streaks, drip marks or large droplets that they will then check it out. It seems that they already knew of this problem and went ahead and put a disclaimer in the manual, way to go Ford. I traded in a 2008 Explorer that never did any such thing. My wife has a 2010 Escape that also is condensation free. I can't remember any of my previous vehicles ever doing this. Yet Ford is saying this is a natural thing to have happen. I'm not feeling the love for Ford right now.
  15. I just washed my Edge today for the 2nd time [2 weeks old]. I noticed quite a bit of condensation on the inside of the tail light lenses, this doesn't seem like a good thing to me. Has anyone else noticed this ? I did see quite a few comments about this in another forum. Has Ford offered to do anything to fix this problem ?
  16. Yes I bought a 3rd Access key online and programmed it myself following the instructions in the Owner Manual, it took me several tries before it was successful. I also had to find my own factory keypad code, because the dealership could not locate my card with the number and wanted me to go to the service dept. which I didn't have time for. I was able to find the code myself using the instructions in the manual, again that took a few tries. I think I am following the instructions exactly but for some reason it took several tries ??
  17. What engine do you have with that foam engine cover ? My 2.0 Ecoboost has a hard plastic cover.
  18. I can only speak about the 2016 with intelligent access keys, the only way you can lock one of these keys in the vehicle is to use the keyless entry pad by pressing the last two buttons [7-8 and 9.0] at the same time, [no need to enter your code first] or by using another intelligent access key. If you wish to leave an extra one of these keys in the vehicle as a back up, you have to wrap in in foil in order to not have it remain active.
  19. I just hit the keypad to light it up, wait a second or two, then punch in my saved code in a fairly quick order. Works every time. I do use the code when at home and the smart key is not with me when I want to open the door for some reason or to then open the rear hatch.
