  1. Update on Edge 18" painted aluminum wheels... My extra set came in and I decided to put the painted aluminum 18" wheels on my AWD Ford Fusion. The offset and bolt pattern for the Fusion is exactly the same as the Edge. So I wrapped them in 225/45/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Ultra Performance All-Season Radials. It gives the Fusion a nice stance compared to 17" stockers. Now I am on the hunt again for another set of Edge 18" wheels to have chromed. I have a quote of $150.00 per rim to chrome with a 2 year warranty. If I can get another set of these rims at the same price I got the last set it would be worth the chroming effort. Here is the Fusion on the new Edge wheels and then a picture of the stock wheels at almost the same angle..
  2. Unfortunately your assessment is correct as many of us are beginning to find this out also
  3. Yes, typically it is activated before you leave the dealers lot so you should have it as soon as you take ownership of the vehicle. In about 2 months after all your necessary paperwork has been processed by the dealer you will receive a letter from the satellite radio provider offering a discounted rate if you do choose to keep the service past the 6 month period. I have heard of some people not doing anything and still have the service as far as 9 months...but one would have to think when they do lose the service the discount would not apply and there probably would be some type of 're-connection' fee. Radio ON my fellow Edger!!! Congratulations on your new vehicle!!!
  4. Thanks for posting the TSB #'s as I did have the Pull/drift (07-3-2) issue with my Edge. Dealer stated the service guy put camber and alignment to within factory specs per TSB.
  5. Welcome DELSOL25 and congratulations on your new purchase!!
  6. Page 27 in the 2007 sales brochure under the wheel specifications directly states option C: " 18" Premium Aluminum Chrome-Clad Optional on SEL and SEL Plus" also above that on page 27 in the options category it's listed again as Chrome-Clad and gives the appropriate tire size. When completed I will have pics to offer. Just stating that $750.00 for 4 plastic wheel covers is not my idea of a premium wheel package.
  7. I have the 18" painted aluminum factory wheels on my Edge sel plus and was thinking of changing them out for the 'upgraded' chrome-clad wheels which Ford touts as the premium wheel package($750.00 option). Well, after careful investigation I have found out the the premium wheel package is just a plastic chrome cover for an 18" rim. Yes, just like the chrome "wheelskins" found on the Explorers and the new six spoke chrome design for the Edge is the same chrome plastic cover design! Now I am thinking my painted aluminum 18" wheel package is a bargain for the $395.00 sticker (which was actually less with my X-plan). Since when did a chrome plastic hubcap become a premium accessory? So for those of you who didn't know, as good as they look, they are just plastic wheel covers. So I have reconsidered my idea and now have decided to have my painted rims chromed which will give me an actual 18" chromed wheel.. not a faux set-up. Will post pics when wheels come back from chroming. O.K. RANT OVER :shades:
  8. Thank you for the part #. I have just installed this OEM piece on my edge. 10 minutes install taking your time...just beware that air bubbles are your worst enemy as this piece is very durable but also very flexible. Not as thick as I had imagined before actually seeing it.
  9. A small dremel tool with a 'cutting' wheel makes short work of removing them. They are actually only held in place with 2 small 'tac' welds on each tip. Once removed you can smooth out the area where the welds were and apply any type of aftermarket tip that you would like.
  10. So 30 minutes is a fairly accurate estimate?
  11. Traded a 1999 F250 CC w/7.3 powerstroke diesel for the 07 AWD Edge Traded a 2003 Explorer limited V8 for an AWD 07 Fusion If Ford doesn't make it out of the doldrums it won't be my fault! :shades: What did you trade in ?
  12. It must be the forum members!! LOL :yup:
  13. Congrats.... Creme Brulee is a nice choice!
  14. 01-01-07 Purchasing an Edge after this date may cause feelings similar to being elated and that all other vehicles on the road are inferior. Studies show that this nirvana is directly related to your gluteus maximus being in contact with the seat of the afore-mentionted vehicle. Please use caution while operating as it has also been shown that other human senses may be affected from the whole driving experience.
  15. Great news... for you! Maybe not the next soul that buys the vehicle with the swapped out wheels. Certainly a tense time but probably worth the wait. Glad they took care of it for you! Thanks for the update.
  16. You are correct... Only the SE trim level is to have the black rear spoiler and black door handles and black mirrors. SEL/SEL+ all are SUPPOSED to have all of these items 'body colored'. What type of wheels do you have and does your Edge have fog lights? These are important question as your dealer may have possibly put an SEL badge on an AWD SE model. Your window sticker should have the trim level noted at the top center of the sticker. Make sure your sticker VIN # matches the Vin # of the vehicle. Hope this isn't the case and it is only limited to the rear spoiler issue. Good luck and please update on your results.
  17. Does anyone know if the rear window wiper gets the cleaning solution from the same storage bottle as the front wipers? Other SUV type vehicles I have owned there was a seperate rear bottle with an access door for refilling when needed. After scanning my owner's manual and inspecting the inside rear cargo area of the Edge I do not see any such "remote" reservoir.
  18. Don't forget that the Edge's also have the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)! If you do go the E-bay route this will create another headache for you as typically when the wheels are changed out the vehicles computer system will need to be re-calibrated to accept the new sensors inside the wheels ( if they are even in the sets from E-bay). My opinion is you will create more problems for yourself than you will solve. If what you have stated is correct than it is up to Ford and the associated dealer to correct your problem. Let them do it and relieve yourself of even more unforeseen issues.
  19. Thanks for your reply and input Robert... Yes, just curious. Glad you responded before I did as my retort to post #4 may not have been as civilized. :shades: I'll chalk it up to 'growing pains' for the forum.
  20. Hello rdonchann, Welcome to the forum... Some vehicles come equipped or can be ordered with the roof "side rails". These are the two rails parallel with the drivers side doors and passenger side doors. They will accept two "crossbars" that are perpendicular to the side rails. If you purchase the optional O.E.M. crossbars there is no drilling involved as the necessary equipment (screws & brackets) is included in the crossbar package and the side rails already have 8 pre-threaded holes waiting to accept them.
  21. The couple pictured on the very back of the brochure is even odd. The lady has what looks to be about a 2-3 karat diamond ring on her left hand and the guy with her has NOTHING on his left hand.... Now that's a "BOLD MOVE"!
  22. SIM... It looks as if you have gone over the EDGE!!! The roof crossbars are an easy install. 30 minutes to do-it-yourself. Please let us know how it all turns out! :yup:
  23. Interior question regarding dashboard Heat / AC vents. While scanning through my 2007 Ford Edge sales brochure I noticed in several areas (page 14 & page 19) the passenger side heat/ac vent also had a chrome bezel around the perimeter just like the ones in the center dash console on the SEL and SEL + Along with the fact that on page 14 and page 16 it is very clear that the drivers side vent does not have the chrome bezel. Why would Ford publish a picture of a vehicle with the chrome bezel on the passenger side vent when in fact this isn't an available option on ANY trim level (although in my opinion it should be to match the center console vents). This post is not to bash the Edge or Ford as I am happy with my own Edge purchase. Yes it may be considered anal to some readers but I am just curious if the pictures are of "real" vehicles or maybe just computer generated. I have read all of the disclaimers in the brochure about changes and that they don't have to notify of any changes but this item is something that is purely for "dress-up" of the interior of the vehicle that doesn't even exist. NO, I am not a lawyer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night!
  24. For those of you interested I have posted some pictures in the "Members Gallery" area entitled O.E.M. Crossbars. For those of us who did not purchase the Vista roof option you can get factory cross bars for the roof of your new Edge or MKX. My cost was $85.00 @ the Ford dealer and install time to do it myself was about 30 minutes. It is a fairly simple task and all that is needed is a torkz bit #25 and #30. One the underneath of the bars is a "Front" designation to match up with two LH (left hand/Drivers side) brackets and two RH (right hand/Passenger side) brackets that attach to the existing side rails already on my roof. Inspect the brackets carefully to insure seeing the LH & RH scripts. In all there are 12 screws that will need to be tightened. (2 per each bracket and 2 per each crossbar) Good luck and any questions just ask. I think it "finishes off" the look of the Edge or MKX without the vista glass option. Another item I think that should have come on the vehicle. Ford part # 7T4Z-7855100-BA Kit-Luggage
