  1. So, I just got my OEM 20" wheels painted black (stock was a polished finish). This is a 2017 Edge. I'd like to replace the chrome/whatever lugs with gloss black lugs to match the wheels (not a big fan of the cop car look). I'm having a really hard time finding an exact replacement - all the lugs seem to be the locking (key required) type or have a different drive size (22mm). From what I can tell, the stock is a 19mm drive [Edit - it is NOT 19mm, it is 21mm], m14x1.5 (although I haven't verified that). Does anyone know the full and exact measurement (including drive size). I am certain that they are m14x1.5 but I'm not certain that they are 19mm. I guess it isn't that big of a deal but I'd just rather keep them matching the OEM lug wrench, if possible. Attached some pics - sorry they're not the greatest. Wheels hadn't been cleaned and (as I found out), shooting a bright white vehicle with black wheels in the California sun is challenging. If you're on the sun-side, the wheels don't look black and if you're on the other side, you can barely see them. Ha. Anyway, you can a general sense of her new look. Decided to experiment with the calipers - had them painted to match the wheel center cap. I like it - it's very subtle, unless you're looking for it. Edit: These seem like they would fit but according to Amazon, they won't.. They are m14x1.5, 19mm hex drive so I don't see why they wouldn't. These also have a 60° seat - any idea what the stock is? https://www.amazon.com/DPAccessories-D3148P-2308-20-14x1-5-Aftermarket/dp/B00JJ66XCA/ref=pd_sbs_263_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00JJ66XCA&pd_rd_r=A1RH032WSHRZETKYDRCH&pd_rd_w=jhyEY&pd_rd_wg=lSRka&psc=1&refRID=A1RH032WSHRZETKYDRCH Edit 2/Update: I did verify that the drive is 21mm. So the only thing left to verify is the seat angle of 60°. Edit Edit: See my update below...
  2. Long shot here, but is there any way to monitor the inside temperature of the vehicle remotely (smart phone, etc.)? This can be 3rd party or anything.
  3. In my case (edit: and I can't speak for others), it came on during a highway exit (clover-leaf - after which I had already signaled to exit). Very long, spread-out exit and I was adjusting to the new driving style (compared to a lifted Wrangler). I was just getting used to a new vehicle with 6 miles on it. I use turn signals religiously. Love them. Also, Cruise control!! Wish I could have got the auto-cruise adjusty thingy. Edit, edit: I think everyone here would agree that using turn signals is not hard, courteous and the right thing to do! I certainly agree.
  4. Being a new car I'm 99.9999999% certain it's the lane-keeping system. Like I mentioned, I felt the exact same sensation before realizing I had enabled the LKS. It's just doing what it's supposed to. Still, I agree - I'd like to hear back to make sure that's all it was. I've noticed a few posters commenting on problems with brand-new vehicles and it's a bit unnerving.
  5. Thank you for the great info! I understand the legality of the disclaimer - having to post that - I just wanted to be sure if we fell under that As for the octane, from what I've heard, we can get "racing" fuel of various higher grades but the standard at most stations is 87/89/91. With that said, I'm not looking to run quarter-miles at the track (although it does sound fun - even without the tuning).. I just want a little more "oomph" to help offset the turbo lag. After my last post on this thread, I did read about revving up before "takeoff" to prime the turbos but I'd rather avoid that in most situations (although I'm glad I learned of it). One more octane question - if I was to use the "87" tune, and I put 89/91 fuel in it, would that be as harmful as using the "93" tune and using 87/89 octane? Again, no idea why I would do that - I'm a proponent of using the exact octane that is recommended given the current situation (factory/modded/etc.). Just curious! Thanks! ~S
  6. I'm a total noob to this but I have a few questions regarding engine tuning. I'm interested in the X4 and I'm just curious what type of performance increase could be expected. I really want to keep it simple - I won't be upgrading the exhaust, cooling or anything else - just looking for a simple program to gain some performance. Is that possible to use this stand-alone or are there any other required mods? I'm guessing it's a combination of both - addt'l mods aren't required but would give additional performance gains. Also, my Edge (2017 Sport) is a lease. I'm concerned that the dealer may discover that I tuned it and fine me/void the warranty, etc. Any concerns in that department? Finally, skimming through the owner's manual (thank you for the link), I noticed "*This product is not legal for sale or use in California on pollution controlled motor vehicles". I live in California but I'm not sure if the Edge Sort is considered a "pollution controlled vehicle". Any idea? Edit: Continued reading manual. How damaging would it be to use the 93 Octane tune but only using 87 Octane fuel. Note - I would NEVER intentionally do this - just curious in case I'm a dumb ass and forget to use the proper fuel. Owners manual says it can damage/destroy the engine - is that generally the case or is that more "worst case" scenario? 2nd Edit: Does anyone have experience on performance gains for the 3 different octane levels?
  7. Cool, thanks. It's looking pretty doubtful from what I read in a different thread. Finding a painted replacement is another challenge..
  8. Question - is the newer model much different from the older ones? I ask because I found the below writeup which says (for the 2011 model), you just need to loosen the shroud on top of the radiator/front of engine compartment, then reach down and unclip the emblem.. Is that method a no-go on 2015+ model years? I have a 2017 and really want to swap the emblems but I don't have anywhere to pull the bumper off (live in the woods, gravel driveway). 2011 front emblem removal: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14629-front-emblem-removal-with-pics/?hl=%2Brear+%2Bemblem&do=findComment&comment=136644
  9. Yeah, I tried that... Put in my vehicle info and they came back with 1 (ONE) product - a Texas A and M badge... Hehe.. See attached (this is literally the ONLY match for a 2017 Ford Edge).....
  10. No doubt. I'm going to try swapping out the wipers first with some framed/braced aftermarket blades.. I'm almost out of fluid so I may try upgrading to one of those bug/insect removing kinds (I think they're the green-colored fluids). Not a terribly big deal. I actually noticed that for whatever reason, the sap varies in consistency - I park under several trees so I'm wondering if perhaps one is worse than the other.
  11. Do you have a link to the exact part number that you got? That link is just a main page that shows several emblems.. I was looking at those very emblems (nice) but they're all listed as F150/Raptor/Expedition badges.. How did you find the badges for the Edge? I've heard that the Edge uses the same as the F150 for the front (9") but I also heard that the F150 is 9.5".. Also, the F-150 is the same size front/rear but the Edge is 5" rear... It has been frustrating to say the least trying to figure out which badge I need.. Oh, just to be clear - what year is your Edge? Mine is a 2017 - I think the badge changed for the 2015+ model years.. Again, not sure of that..
  12. Sorry I can't help much with the removal question (I have the same question actually). I'm also looking for front and rear blackout badges - could you share where you got/are getting yours from? I'm having the hardest time finding them for the Edge - everyone has F-150s, 250s, etc.. One method I remember reading is using fishing line or dental floss (after getting one edge up). I also read that yes, the rear is adhesive only - no clips or screws (but I can't verify)... Thanks!
  13. Sounds like you have the lane-control feature turned on... On the end/tip of your turn signal lever, check to see if there is a button. Then look at the left dash indicator - you will see a pair of little lane markers appear or disappear. I'm 99% positive this is what you're experiencing. I encountered the very same problem in the first day or two of owning mine.. What you're describing is exactly how it feels. Note - the lane keeping system works by detecting the lines to the left and right of your vehicle.. If you use your turn signal it will not engage because the vehicle knows that the lane change is intentional (unless of course you use your right signal and change to the left lane). Give it a test! Edit: I should also mention that you can adjust this in the vehicle setup screens. You can make it so it gives you an alarm or the physical wheel adjustment (what you're feeling). Also, you can adjust the "strength" of the adjustment it gives you..
  14. I've been reading through the wiper posts but couldn't find an answer to this specific question. I'm curious if anyone has tried the traditional "brace" style wiper blades as a replacement to the newer "floppy" style. Forgive me if there is more accurate terminology. My primary concern is that the OEM blades are somewhat ineffective at cleaning the windows (I haven't been in rain yet). Here in Cali, 90% of the time I use the wipers it's to clean off tree sap, bird poop, bugs, etc. The OEM sorta work - but I have to use 1/4 gallon of fluid. I know one option is to upgrade the wiper fluid but, comparing this vehicle to prior vehicles, I have never had a problem with this. It may be purely a function of the wiper design and the spring in the arm but it seems like the wipers on the Edge simply don't push down on the window hard enough to be effective in the aforementioned situations. So, I was just wondering if anyone has tried replacing the OEM blades with braced aftermarket blades and if they work any better or worse.. Below pics are of two PIAA blades - The Aero-Tech (braced) and the SI-Tech (floppy). Just to clarify - my question is NOT about the brand. I am only curious about the difference in the two different blade styles (of any brand). I just grabbed these pics for reference. Cheers, S
  15. I just picked up a 2017 Sport and the windshield is perfect - no distortion that I noticed. I would guess faulty windshield or fitment (installation).. One tiny gripe (and so far it is the ONLY gripe I have) - the wipers are a bit "weak". I park under a tree and every night tiny drops of sap fall down (well, not every night but a few nights a week). My prior car (2015 Cherokee) had no problem wiping it clean but the Edge doesn't seem to have the same "pressure" on the wiper arms. That is, the force that the spring in the arms exerts downward toward the glass. Anyway, really not that big of deal and perhaps some different wiper blades or fluid will help it. Otherwise, I really love the car! As for the wiper motion "school bus" style - not much you can do there although I would think/hope that you'd get used to it after time. At least they aren't mounted on top of the window! ~S
