  1. I have not checked lately because now the phone sits in the center console but I used to have the same thing happen when using google maps or waze with the iphone by itself. Also it needed to be plugged it to a 2.1 amp charger or it would slowly lose charge on a basic 1amp charger or 0.5amp like the usb from the older Ford escape. Screen always on + nav apps uses a lot of energy.
  2. I use carplay a lot and maybe soon waze. I keep plugging in the phone to the lightning cable and it barely fits in the mkx compartment so I often just leave it at a 45' angle to try to save the cable. I'd like to have a dock that I can just easily slide the phone into vertically; I don't mind that the compartment has to stay open. Anyone has something that works well for this? I have looked a little on amazon but could not find anything. iphoneX if that makes a difference
  3. Thanks my receiver top is at 16" so I guess I need to find a 2" drop that is reversible.
  4. I have a 2016 MKX if that makes any difference vs edge. Stock towing package but don't have the ball and mount yet. I will just be renting trailers 2-3 times per year.
  5. I wonder if maybe a lot of those engines will lose power or increase in cost due to anti-polllution changes. VW was the first to get caught but it seems that every German maker was cheating in some way with diesels. No reason to believe that Ford has a magic engine that can outperform German engines.
  6. Went from escape 2011 3.0L 6cyl to mkx 2016 2.7L 6cyl ecoboost. Both AWD. The ecoboost is really great. There is no noticeable turbo lag. The paddle shifter are actually useful and responsive enough to set the right gear going out of a curve or preparing to accelerate onto the highway. MPG is not great but for the power I get it seems reasonable. Even the engine sound is nice but maybe that it fake stereo sound. I enjoy having both drive and sport because sport is too reactive to drive your grandma as comfortably as possible. As for the AWD. It was working just as well on the 2011 escape but the braking and traction control would kick in way too early; had to disable it from the console button. In the MKX disabling it is a pain going into the menu 3 layers deep but I don't really need to most of the time; it will let me slide a little before kicking in. As a side note I also had a 6.2L F250 with locker. I loved it but it was a pain to have to manually go out of 4x4 at low speed just to be able to park. Also when in 2x4 on ice or snow removing the traction control was just crazy; slight blip of the throttle and the rear end is already sideways. Note on the rims too. One of the big reasons I went with the MKX. Really did not like the rims on the edge but the rest of the car looked good to me. The sport rims I liked but at this point I was already near MKX used cost so that is what I got. I am sure I would have been almost as happy with the Edge 2.0 but I really enjoy my MKX. I do not plan on going back to normally aspirated engines when turbos are available. Of course by the time I am due for a new car it could be the Edge all electric 80KW or something like that.
  7. As to the original question you can get a white noise generator for your bedroom with a smartspeaker like the google mini or echo dot. Just ask it to simulate a fan, wind, waterfall, whatever and it does. I don't think that would be useful in a car but you could always just lower a window and listen to the wind.
  8. I think it's undercoating and double glazed windows for the edge platinum. You get active noise cancellation in the MKX.
  9. I was annoyed at this today after I go out just a second to get my mail and I need the keys to unlock the mailbox. Next time I'll just leave the door slightly open and maybe one day that feature will save me from letting the car run for no reason. Also gave a good show to the neighbors after I accidentally pressed the panic button while trying to unlock the house door with my hands full of bags, mails and other stuff. Took me a while to figure out that lock and unlock won't cancel the panic; just pushing panic again will stop the panic. Not exactly my first idea of which button to try.
  10. https://imgur.com/a/5AUEL First impressions: So comfortable and silent. I have set the drive mode to comfort suspension and normal performance and the sport mode to sport/sport. It does something like the bose noise cancelling headphones; so quiet in there. You don't realize how loud you talk in cars until you get one where you don't have to. Great to listen to calm music or podcasts too. Currently on 18 winters; the 21 summers will probably be a bit louder. All reviews said get the 2.7T engine instead of the 3.7. 335hp/380tq same as the new Edge ST. Right now in winter this seems crazy. Go off the line is too much; I have to relearn to go gently on the gas for my passengers. The MPG in the city is not going to be great; this is a heavy car to move. I love carplay. sync 1 was basically worse than just having bluetooth audio because it would screw with siri. Sync 3 seems better and works fine with bluetooth audio and siri but I think I will be using carplay 100% of the time. Looking forward to waze for sync 3 too. The trunk is quite wide and deep but not very high. I used to be able to barely fit my bike upright with the front wheel off in my 2011 escape; won't fit upright in the MKX but there's plenty of space to put it flat with the front wheel on. Panorama roof is amazing. So much light coming in during winter. I am not sure how often I will leave it open during summer; I use this mostly to feel less caged. There is no traction control off button. You have to go into the menu 2-3 menus deep. Not a big deal but I used to have that button on all my other cars with traction control. The lights gradually turn on when you approach the car with the key and the mirror project a lighted Lincoln logo next to the front doors. I love it. Kick under the bumper to open the trunk seems to only work when there is light. Tested it outside and it works great. In my garage with the light off I could not get it to detect me. I am also wondering how useful it is when leaving the car since it does not seem to lock after. At some point I will have to use the remote to lock the doors or press on the outside door button. The reserve model has a modem and I can remote start, lock or unlock from my phone from anywhere. Also there is a scheduled start that I have not tested yet. I think I will like this a lot coming back from the city on the bus to the parking. Get off the bus to an already warm car.
  11. Had to google apim. I see now its a 2 layer thing sync then apim. Ill stick with 2.3 for now but I really want waze when it comes out My expertise is more with computer systems and that is why I was wondering how the software knew which options the car had. I guess it would still be possible for a beta release version of sync to be made for a single car model without all the options and the right colors and to just crash when tester in a different model.
  12. You installed a sync3 screen(apim?) in a 2012? Where do you get your update files from? How does it recognize the car to know if it has to enable seat controls?
  13. You have a 2012. I’m looking for someone that did a 2016+ Sync 3 version 3.0 update from unofficial files.
  14. Did sync turn blue and white like it is on the edge or does it somehow know it is in a Lincoln car during install and keep the right color for that model? It has to be somehow adjustable for cars with or without heated steering, cooling seats, ...
  15. OEM MICROSOFT SYNC 3 Is'nt it made by blackberry with qnx now? Microsoft should have nothing to do at all with sync 3
