  1. I have since found TSB 13-3-18, that looks very similar, but is just a PCM reflash. Has anyone used that one? Is it any better or worse, short or long term, than the 11-12-10 TSB (other than obviously being cheaper to perform since the vehicle is out of warranty). Thanks!
  2. Also, does anyone know there is a more current version of this TSB or any customer satisfaction program that may be related to the issue? Thanks!
  3. So I first had symptoms with this for the first time almost 2 years ago, but it did about once every 3-4 months. Definitely not reproducible back then. The last few months it has picked up to once a month or so, and this month it has been every week. This week it has been almost every day. Unfortunately still not super reproducible, since it usually does it when the transmission is not fully warmed up. At this point I would imagine the cost of the TSB will be mine unless someone has any strategies to get ford to help? Is there any more potential damage that could have been done to the trans or is this more of a “comfort” issue. A more direct question would be if I get this done, am I likely to have more problems shortly the down road, or be good for a while? My edge is a 2011 SE with 73k miles. I have had the BG Trans fluid exchange done once at 45k and again at 70k. Thanks for the help!
  4. I know this is an old thread, but which TSB did you have performed? 11-12-10 or 11-5-6. Did you ever end getting the issue resolved? Thanks!
  5. Yes I have the manual climate controls. On the fusions at least (per the 2g forums) you can repin some connectors to make the climate control work. Supposedly the manual controls have a temp sensor on the passenger side. On the fusions at least you can switch some pins around and make the climat control system work off of that passenger side temp sensor.
  6. Does you have to turn the kinivo on and off all the time? It seems like it could drain the battery if it is plugged into the cigarette lighter, even when the car is off.
  7. Good morning yall, I have greatly enjoyed reading about Sync 3 swaps here and appreciated the reference to 2g fusion forum to learn more from them as well. One thing i have noticed with all of the swaps that i have read is that they all at least had some sort of version of sync to begin with, which my edge does NOT have (no sync 1, and no backup camera). So i have a couple more questions to determine the feasibility of such a swap. 1) Does any wiring remain to the original sync 1 module after a swap from a 4" screen to an 8" screen setup? I am under the impression that there is not from what i have read but am looking for feedback from someone who has done the swap. 2) Will a Sony FCIM (radio faceplate as i have incorrectly been calling it), work with a regular ACM for basic vehicle functions? I do not care about the Sony Audio per say, just would the volume knob work, etc. I would prefer to use the Sony FCIM because the glossy black trim on it matches the black trim already in the car fairly well. 3) Can FORSCAN be used to reprogram steering wheel controls? Since my Edge did not come with Sync in any fashion, there is not a sync command "chime" button or phone answer/hang up button. I do have a mute button where the chime would go, and a media button where the pick/end call button would go. If forscan cannot reprogram those buttons is there a viable work around? Get a steering wheel from a car that had those buttons? 4) The other wiring i think i would need is a microphone. I figure i could get an oem one from TASCA parts and install it to the system. Is this a realistic expectation? If there is anything else i am overlooking please let me know. Thanks for the help!
  8. The problem is finding a faceplate that will work. The only aftermarket one out there by Metra and Scosche, and they both retain that 4 screen at the top and place a double din opening at the bottom, which is way below normal driver sight lines. Since mine does not even have sync 1, the only thing the 4 screen really displays of any use is the time and temperature. I tried modifying the OEM faceplate, but the whole back of the panel is a giant circuit, so I cant cut a bigger hole than the 4 screen at the top.

    Hello from WA

I think i am going to need it since it does not even have basic sync, but hopefully we can figure it out!
  10. Correct, mine is a 2011 with 101a so it has Sirius satellite radio and reverse parking sensors, but no sync. I was hoping a limited faceplate (maybe that is the same thing as the FCIM?), would at least allow the HVAC controls to work so I would have some real estate up top to a 9" Alpine HALO unit. If I could get a sync 3 swap to work that would be awesome, but I do not know what wiring i am missing to pull that off. The only aftermarket faceplate seems to be that Metra kit, and I am not sure i want to go that route because it places the screen at the bottom of the dash.
  11. I actually do not care or intend to go the sony route. I did not really want to mess with speakers or anything. It just seemed like i have to pic a different faceplate and the sony one in black seemed to match the piano black trim that is already on my dash lol.
  12. I was thinking if i got a limited faceplate, a sync 3 screen (recessed model), and APIM i would be off to a good start. I think i would also need a microphone and steering wheel controls, and probably some wiring harness to power the screen (if this idea would work). Even if sync 3 would not work, if i could get a limited faceplate to work (i.e. still control HVAC and hazards) that would be a win because it would open up real estate to install an aftermarket screen such as the Alpine Halo setup. The lack of faceplates other than Metra is frustrating. Thanks for the help!
  13. Okie, Have you seen anyone gets this to work successfully on a 4.2" screen model that did not even have Sync 1? What other parts would be required in addition to what you and zrt8355 have mentioned? Thanks!
  14. They also do not offer anything for someone with a 4.2" screen and no sync (aka 2011 Ford Edge SE)
  15. Candurin, I have the same question for an SE. If i were to replace the radio control panel on the SE with a Sony one from a limited, would that work? The goal would be to free up dashboard space for a big screen. I do not even have sync 1, so I am not sure how feasible a sync 3 swap would be. My idea with a the limited panel swap would be to preserve HVAC controls. Since the SE comes with manual temp and fan speed controls, I was wondering if the panel swap would work (I do not expect auto temp control, just would the buttons to adjust fan speed and temp work?) Thanks for the help!
  16. Hi guys, I have a 2011 Ford Edge SE with 64k miles that has become my daily driver recently. I really like the fundamentals of the car, but would like to upgrade the tech if possible. I look forward to reading all about the sync 3 swaps and what not that other folks have done on their vehicles. Have a good one!
