  1. As suggested above, I left my keys in the kitchen and went into the garage after the vehicle sat all night. As soon as I opened the back left side door I heard the clank. After following this thread, I'm thinking that it is more of a gear or actuator engaging or disengaging. I don't think that a fuel pump priming will create this type of sound. Now to be fair it is possible that the fuel pump is priming as well but it may be silent. So to me a faulty RDU seems to be the likely culprit. Especially since mine was built Feb 13 right in the middle of the build dates noted above. Will check in with the dearler.
  2. Not entirely true. The're have been a few times where I would just walk past the vehicle and the pump would prime Also when washing I can hear the pump activate. So as long as its not a safety issue I guess I will live with it. No other choice
  3. Thanks for clearing this up. However, don't you think Ford can find a better fuel pump that is not so noisy? Never heard it on any other non-Ford products.
  4. I took delivery of my Edge ST in late April. The build date was 2/13/19. Right from the beginning whenever I opened any door after the vehicle was sitting for a long time I would hear a weird grating noise coming from under the rear. Not always but particularly after sitting over night. Sometimes I would hear it just unlocking the door even before actually opening it. I took it to the dealer to have them see if they could find the cause. I left it for a few hours. When I picked it up, the dearer said they had gone out to the lot and open the doors on two other ST's. Same noise. They guessed that it was probably just a relay or actuator causing the noise. Has anyone here experienced the same thing. Don't know if it's related to all Edges. As an aside, I love this vehicle. Doesn't deserve all the bad press. Going to the Edge ST performance event in Utah in October.
  5. I'm registered for the October 1st session. Will report back when I return.
  6. Very glad to hear that the fake engine noise has been eliminated. Now Ford really needs to address the issues with the 8 seed transmission. Seems to me that with the added power and torque and the lower differential ratio, this vehicle should be capable of a flat 5 second 0-60. I was planning to order mine in April however I may wait for the 2020's with the hope that the transmission issues will be resolved. I have never owned a Ford before and am not sure they will provide a software upgrade for 2019 vehicles once resolved. Any thoughts?
  7. Thanks all. Very glad they apparently killed that awful fake sound. A muffler with a little more throaty sound would be much more desirable. Actually a muffler with a controllable two or three way butterfly valve would be even better. Maybe later.
  8. I am seriously contemplating purchasing a new ST sometime in April. I too hate the fake piped-in engine noise. Can anyone confirm that all vehicles built after at least 12/9/2018 have the piped-in engine noise eliminated or at least have the ability via Sync 3 or otherwise, to be turned off? Thanks.
  9. Excellent suggestion. Makes a lot of sense. Will switch her car to my phone as primary. Then as you say if she receives a call she can pick it up on her handset. Thanks much.
  10. Yes, but I was hoping that it would be possible to easily access the phone menu and switch the call. I suppose that if it were that easy we would already have that capability. Thanks.
  11. In both my current late model vehicles (non-Ford) my wife's phone is set up as the default if both of us are in the car. If a call is coming in to my phone, neither of my vehicles has the ability to allow me to switch to my phone. Does anyone know if there is a quick way to answer my phone in this case? I am planning to purchase an Edge ST in the spring and this would certainly be a very nice to have feature. Not sure if any other manufacture provides this capability.
  12. I recently used the Ford website to build out an St. At the end of the build menu there are several accessories that can be added. Among them are mud flaps for the front fenders so I'm at a lose as to why you need to find third party flaps. Am I missing something?
  13. In my opinion if you are in "S" you are doing some serious driving so the need for music is unnecessary which would defeat to whole point of introducing the enhanced engine sound into the cabin. Just wondering now if "S" cuts out the music altogether to provide the wanted engine sound. Maybe someone can answer that.
  14. I reverse my previous "good point" comment. Yes CD's are digital.
