  1. As suggested above, I left my keys in the kitchen and went into the garage after the vehicle sat all night. As soon as I opened the back left side door I heard the clank. After following this thread, I'm thinking that it is more of a gear or actuator engaging or disengaging. I don't think that a fuel pump priming will create this type of sound. Now to be fair it is possible that the fuel pump is priming as well but it may be silent. So to me a faulty RDU seems to be the likely culprit. Especially since mine was built Feb 13 right in the middle of the build dates noted above. Will check in with the dearler.
  2. Not entirely true. The're have been a few times where I would just walk past the vehicle and the pump would prime Also when washing I can hear the pump activate. So as long as its not a safety issue I guess I will live with it. No other choice
  3. Thanks for clearing this up. However, don't you think Ford can find a better fuel pump that is not so noisy? Never heard it on any other non-Ford products.
  4. I took delivery of my Edge ST in late April. The build date was 2/13/19. Right from the beginning whenever I opened any door after the vehicle was sitting for a long time I would hear a weird grating noise coming from under the rear. Not always but particularly after sitting over night. Sometimes I would hear it just unlocking the door even before actually opening it. I took it to the dealer to have them see if they could find the cause. I left it for a few hours. When I picked it up, the dearer said they had gone out to the lot and open the doors on two other ST's. Same noise. They guessed that it was probably just a relay or actuator causing the noise. Has anyone here experienced the same thing. Don't know if it's related to all Edges. As an aside, I love this vehicle. Doesn't deserve all the bad press. Going to the Edge ST performance event in Utah in October.
  5. I'm registered for the October 1st session. Will report back when I return.
  6. Very glad to hear that the fake engine noise has been eliminated. Now Ford really needs to address the issues with the 8 seed transmission. Seems to me that with the added power and torque and the lower differential ratio, this vehicle should be capable of a flat 5 second 0-60. I was planning to order mine in April however I may wait for the 2020's with the hope that the transmission issues will be resolved. I have never owned a Ford before and am not sure they will provide a software upgrade for 2019 vehicles once resolved. Any thoughts?
  7. Thanks all. Very glad they apparently killed that awful fake sound. A muffler with a little more throaty sound would be much more desirable. Actually a muffler with a controllable two or three way butterfly valve would be even better. Maybe later.
  8. I am seriously contemplating purchasing a new ST sometime in April. I too hate the fake piped-in engine noise. Can anyone confirm that all vehicles built after at least 12/9/2018 have the piped-in engine noise eliminated or at least have the ability via Sync 3 or otherwise, to be turned off? Thanks.
  9. Excellent suggestion. Makes a lot of sense. Will switch her car to my phone as primary. Then as you say if she receives a call she can pick it up on her handset. Thanks much.
  10. Yes, but I was hoping that it would be possible to easily access the phone menu and switch the call. I suppose that if it were that easy we would already have that capability. Thanks.
  11. In both my current late model vehicles (non-Ford) my wife's phone is set up as the default if both of us are in the car. If a call is coming in to my phone, neither of my vehicles has the ability to allow me to switch to my phone. Does anyone know if there is a quick way to answer my phone in this case? I am planning to purchase an Edge ST in the spring and this would certainly be a very nice to have feature. Not sure if any other manufacture provides this capability.
  12. I recently used the Ford website to build out an St. At the end of the build menu there are several accessories that can be added. Among them are mud flaps for the front fenders so I'm at a lose as to why you need to find third party flaps. Am I missing something?
  13. In my opinion if you are in "S" you are doing some serious driving so the need for music is unnecessary which would defeat to whole point of introducing the enhanced engine sound into the cabin. Just wondering now if "S" cuts out the music altogether to provide the wanted engine sound. Maybe someone can answer that.
  14. I reverse my previous "good point" comment. Yes CD's are digital.
  15. You make a good point. However if you're trying to do an audio evaluation in a test vehicle I'm certain that many test driver's fingers have been in the audio adjustment tools section so making parameter adjustments is almost certainly necessary.
  16. On my test drive this morning I did not spend any time listening to the B&O system. My main concern today was focused on drivability and performance. To properly evaluate a sound system some time must be spent adjusting the audio parameters using a familiar CD (not songs recorded on a USB drive since most mp3 songs are compressed). Will save that for a different day when I can also explore the menu items to see what adjustments can be made.
  17. No, I just floored the accelerator from a dead stop to simulate a stop light launch. I expect that the mag reviews will do power launch. That's most likely how MT (?) managed a 5.6 sec 0-60 time on a Sport.
  18. So this morning I was able to take an extensive test drive in a black Edge ST with the 401A and cold weather packages along with the 21inch black rims with all-season tires. No performance brakes. I should mention that I do not own a previous Edge but have owned a number of high performance sports cars. In one word...awesome...for an SUV. I'll begin with the handling. Very tight and flat in the corners, smooth on the highway and handles bumps surprising well. This was one of my main concerns but definite passes the test for everyday driving. Steering is tight and responsive. The interior is very quiet in "D" and not as disruptive as I thought in "S." The real question here is how often and for how long will you be driving is "S"? Now for the powertrain. There is definitely turbo lag at launch which is more noticeable in "S." It's also noticeable when passing but once the turbo spools up it will really pin you to your seat. Transmission seems to quickly change gears and the paddle shifters click off shifts quickly, particularly the down shifts. I know that the transmission shifts has been a concern but I would say more than acceptable. The turbo lag is definitely an issue and hopefully can be cured with a software upgrade. Will be interesting to see the 0-60 times the car magazines measure with production units. Overall really a nice package. Am planning to wait until spring before ordering mine so that hopefully the turbo issue is resolved.
  19. I couldn't agree more. I really like the exterior features of the ST but you are right...Edge Sport outfitted with the 10 speed and 350 hp. Aside from the suspension, the other thing that came up in some of the reviews is the turbo lag at launch. I've had an opportunity to drive a 2017 Sport and do not recall feeling any turbo lag. This could be the reason that Ford says the 0-60 sec time is in the sub 6's. The magazine reviews of the Sport measured 5.6 sec. With the additional 20 hp and the 8 speed transmission the time should be closer to 5.0 sec. I guess we will have to wait for more detailed reviews with accurate measurements. If true, this will be very disappointing. And then there is the "fake" engine noise piped into the cabin via the speakers in sport mode. This is absurd!! I sure hope there is a way to defeat this somewhere in the menu. So all in all so far I am disappointed with the findings expressed in the initial reviews. I have never owned a Ford (only a Lincoln Continental back in 1990 which was terribly unreliable). I was really hoping that the Edge ST would really work for me. Now, not so sure.
  20. Frankly I don't like the idea that the engine will shutoff while decelerating or the engine stop/start function. However I do know the latter can be switched off each time the engine starts with the button on the console. I would like to disable both permanently. I just hate the idea of not having total control of the vehicle including braking and steering. I am hoping that these items can be permanently disabled in the menu and/or submenus. Alternatively, using Forscan or similar program to disable. In my view all these functions should not have been included in a performance vehicle if this is truly a performance vehicle as advertised. I know I am sounding "old school" but I am a driver and want all decisions left in my control. Btw I wonder how these functions would affect driving on a track if one choses. Can't image the engine shunting down while decelerating at the end of a straight entering a hairpin.
  21. Looks like the image opened when it posted. Learned something today. Let me know what you think.

  23. I posted a picture of the 2019 Edge ST standard 20 inch wheels in the image gallery. Tried to paste it here but couldn't figure out how. If you go to the image gallery look in the recent pictures category. Anyway they look a lot better than I first thought. A nice compromise between the all black high gloss wheels and completely bright machined wheels. There are actually on an Ford "Endura" which is the same as the Edge in Australia.
