  1. Good morning. Sorry for the delayed update on Good morning and sorry for the delayed update. Back ordered parts arrived a week or so ago but could not find time to get the ST in for the repair until a few days ago...plus the weather has been awful and my wife did not want to drive my RWD car when the roads were a slippery mess. Anyway, the seat repair is complete and my wife indicated the heater is working great so far. In looking at the final repair order document, I am not so sure the heating element was the culprit as the description references the cooling fan assembly. Regardless, it is working and if it would help someone else to see a copy of the repair doc, I would be glad to try to scan and upload. Thanks!
  2. Greetings fellow ST owners. File this under the "Tips" category and for those who live in areas where the roads may be snow/ice covered during the winter months. My wife (primary driver of the ST) came home from work one day a few weeks ago and commented about the lane keeping feature of the car being a bit annoying/intrusive. We had received enough snow that day to cover the roads and as traffic wore through the covering, there were tire tracks, if you will, through the snow and down to the road surface. Of course those tracks tended to wander outside of the driving lane. When she followed those tracks, the lane keeping feature would get glimpses of the painted lines and try to steer the vehicle left or right.....not what you want to have happen in a icy situation. Based on her observations, I scrolled through the driver assist menu and changed the setting from (I believe) "Correction" to "Alert Only". The next day, the Mrs's said the wheel buzzed slightly but did not try to redirect the car.....much better. Come spring, I am not sure we will turn the "correction" option back on as we found that it seemed to take action at about the same time as the driver and it tended to make the adjustment rather abrupt. Also, our family seems somewhat performance oriented and we generally take an 'outside-to-inside-to-outside' cornering approach and have found the lane keeping system does not seem to like us hugging the lines. Hope that helps any ST owners who may encounter this.
  3. I wanted to provide an update on the seat heat issue we are experiencing with our 2019 ST. To recap our situation; Our drivers seat worked for about 90 days but we noticed it seemed to get almost too warm (at least warmer than our previous Sport and warmer than the passenger seat). At one point it started working sporadically, then it quit working completely. The display light on the dash still worked, the passenger and rear seat heaters still worked. I brought ours in to the dealer for assessment and they found the heating element in the seat back portion had a higher level of resistance. They believe this is what caused the seat cushion to get overly warm and ultimately caused the system to quite working. One of the replacement parts (if I understood correctly, the heating element for the seat back) is on back order so at this point we are awaiting parts arrival and final repair. Once complete, I will provide another update for the group. Hope this info helps others!
  4. Hi MrHappy. I am wondering if you were able to determine the cause of the sporadic issue with your heated seats. My wife's ST started exhibiting problems but it was limited to the drivers (left) seat. From our experience, the left seat got almost overly hot in even the lower settings. Then on Friday my wife said the seat was not heating any more. I looked to see if switching the heat button on/off or even switching the seat coolers on would allow it to start working....it did not. I also looked under the seat to see if maybe a connector got unplugged but all looked to be secure. The "heat" indicator lights on the dash still come on/respond to the button, the seat cooler still functions, and the right seat still heats just fine. Hoping you found a cause/solution that will allow me to either fix or help the dealer in diagnosing. Thanks!
  5. Count my wife and I as members of the ST club. On Monday....brought home our 2019 ST in FPB color, with 401a, 21" wheel, cold weather, and block heater opts. Although I have not driven it more than 25miles, I am very happy with the ride quality, tightness, quietness, and handling of the vehicle. Although we are following a traditional break-in regimen so engine performance has not been pressed....I can say the engine/trans works very smoothly. Although we were really hoping to find a non-sunroof car (our 2016 Sport had issues with the roof), we were unsuccessful in tracking one down and meeting the timeline set by Ford reacquired vehicles. At this point, the roof on the ST seems very tight and we are hoping it stays that way. After a day of work commuting and running errands, my wife really enjoys the ST. She had trouble with the remote start (Ford Pass) but I suspect that is more user error on my part in setting it up. I recall a forum member who had raised concerns about the reviews of the ST's ride quality (among some other concerns) and I can say the ride quality was our biggest concern but also a pleasant surprise. We had 20" wheels on our 16 Edge Sport and the ride of our ST (with 21's) is as good or maybe slightly better than the 16. I would expect a 20" equipped ST would provide an even better ride quality. All this to say, if you have concerns about the ride quality, I would encourage you to at least take one for a spin.
  6. 2FAST4U: You are welcome! Hope it helps. In the case of the SS, I found the additional "intake honk" when the kazoo tube was in place to be very minimal, so I have left mine alone. akirby: Thanks for clarifying the two different objectives of those features. I appreciate the noise canceling tech in cars these days. Thinking back to some of the performance vehicles I have had in the past....the wind/road noise could be rather fatigue-ing. I am not as fond of the piped-in sounds (whether electronic or mechanical) and would prefer the manufacturers focus on getting the exhaust tuning right so the car sounded good inside and out. I recently rode in a coworkers Acura TSX ?-Spec and outside it was whisper quiet....but inside, the engine sounds piped through the speakers made it sound like a different car. He seemed pretty convinced...I was not as impressed. Anyway....sorry about going off-topic. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. :-)
  7. My main driver is a Chevy SS sedan M6 and it has a similar set up. The intent is to pipe in some intake noise to the firewall so when you are on the throttle, you hear a little extra growl inside the car. Other SS owners have removed (what they call) this 'kazoo tube' and capped the fittings and said it reduces noise a bit. The same may hold true on your mustang. Hope that helps. I know it has been covered already but to add.....my wife and I drove an ST, 401a, 21" wheel optioned car last Friday. We were pleasantly surprised by the ride and felt it was comparable to our 2016 Sport with 20" wheels. Cannot comment on power as we drove it respectfully (I'm old school on break-in regimen.....especially boosted engines) but it cornered/gripped better than our 2016 Sport. We are awaiting final docs from Ford (they agreed to a vehicle exchange) and hopefully we'll have the ST in the garage soon.
  8. Thanks bobyellow and congrats on the new ride! Follow up question, did you have the 21in wheel option on your Sport? Wondering if you think the increased stiffness is strictly suspension related or maybe....partly the result of moving from 20in to 21in wheels/tires. Thanks for your understanding about the continued thread heist Fingernip. I hope your new ride makes it in before the holidays as well.
  9. Sorry about the thread hijack Fingernip! bobyellow, question for you. You said the ST rode more firmly than your Sport. I see the ST you drove had the 21in wheels, does it also have the summer performance tires? Also, did your Sport have the 21in wheels? Good luck on deciding....I would go for red....just because I cant find time anymore to keep a black vehicle looking nice. Thanks for the additional detail!
  10. Following this forum for some time but first post. On a side note to the site admins....I have sent many messages using the contact option on this site to sort out an error I made trying to set up an account and received no reply over the last 30-60 days. It does not appear that anyone is monitoring inquiries coming through that channel. Regarding the dialog regarding the ST and Ford's use of that badge on this vehicle......and I am going to show my age a bit....I remember when the Ford Performance group was known as SVO, then SVT. Back in the SVT days, Ford made an SVT Lighting out of a stepside F150. It was not intended to handle like the SVT Mustang, Contour, or Focus. It was the high performance version of the truck and I suspect Ford is taking a similar approach with the Edge. Chevrolet did the same by building a higher performance truck and put an SS badge on it. They also foolishly put an SS or RS badge on nearly everything....but I digress. Regarding the Edge ST, I think the recommendations to drive it before making a final decision are very wise. Compare it back to back with a Sport and see what you think. I am a bit concerned about the ride quality, considering the comment about stiffer springs, however, it does not say whether the ST springs are stiffer than the base or stiffer than the 2018 Sport. Thinking back to the 2001 SVT Mustang I bought new...it actually rode as well or better than the GT version. So....I am hopeful Ford did not loose sight of the fact that proper suspension tuning and great handling can be accomplished with bump compliance. I remain hopeful they struck a good balance but am also cautious as my son has a Focus RS and that is awful on anything but perfectly smooth pavement....but I digress, again. :-) I am just looking forward to the ST hitting the dealers so I can make a decision about our next vehicle.....does anyone know when they will land? Sorry about the long first post and I hope some of my thoughts and experiences provide some helpful insight and perspective.
