  1. Hello Members, My 2019 ST started making this noise this week. I have 71,146 miles on it and the transmission oil has been changed every 20,000 miles. I have the same exact sound that happens as the engine rpm gets up to about 2,000 rpm and it goes away as soon as the transmission shifts. I have noticed that the noise goes away as the transmission gets to operating temp. It's much more pronounced when it is cold. I wonder what my dealer is going to do for me. I have the Ford 100,000 mile Premium Care warranty.
  2. You will find this with just about every SUV on the market today. If you compare them all, the Edge has the most shoulder room of all and the best Safety rating as well. As long as your transmission shifts, drive it until the wheels fall off and enjoy it. Our transmission was a 6 speed with 2nd and 8th gear added on. If you really want out of it, advertise it online until you get someone who is willing to buy it from you at a price that is acceptable to you. Put a for sale sign on it. Go to your local Post Office and ask if anyone is interested in buying it from you. We all know what we bought. We all enjoy getting what we paid for, and we all discuss the pros and cons of this vehicle, hoping that Ford will somehow get the message and not make the same mistakes in the future. e.g. Mustang Mark E. Who puts a transmission in an electric vehicle ??? smh...
  3. 335 HP comes in at 5500 rpm. My Edge doesn't wait for 5500 rpm to shift. Not even getting on the highway. Pete...
  4. Transmissions are rated on Torque, not Horsepower. Pete...
  5. One thing you need to remember is that on the ST, the 380 Ft Lb of Torque maxes out at 3000 rpm. To keep the transmission in the "Sweet spot", it needs to shift at about 3000 rpm. After the 3000 rpm, the torque doesn't get any higher. Pete...
  6. There are only TWO overdrive gears, 7th and 8th. 6th gear is 1:1. If 4th gear is an overdrive gear, then so is REVERSE !!! Transmission specs are here on page 2. ST 8 speed transmission has a different gear set. https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North America/US/product/2019/edge/2019-edge.pdf They don't even know the definition of an overdrive gear. Pete...
  7. There is ONE THING you can say to the dealership. All these transmission problems that we are having that are FIXED by the TSB are problems that the Computer (PCM) never flagged. Brand NEW Edge ST/Titanium/and others owners are having transmissions rebuilt and replaced with problems that are not detected by the computer (PCM). This conversation is at an Engineering level that is way above the pay grade of a dealership and it requires a Field Representative to talk to. Pete...
  8. Hmmm... Need to figure out how to mod the 2019...
  9. Yep, I had the same issue. Third would disengage and fourth took forever to engage. In between the engine would flare because there was nothing engaged. TSB fixed that problem. Pete...
  10. Go tell them that 'THE COMPUTER' is only as smart as the ASS that programmed it, and they are JUST AS BIG AN ASS for believing THE COMPUTER... There are plenty of things that can go wrong that are NOT tied to a sensor that alarms the computer. How did they diagnose problems PRIOR to computers ? Did they forget how to properly diagnose a transmission problem ? I bet if you were to take it to a transmission shop, you would get back a report of all the problems it has. Pete...
  11. Does the 2020 Edge Rear Camera have a 'washer' ???
  12. I just bought the JLT Oil Separator for my 2019 ST because it comes complete with the mounting bracket and hose retainers. First warm weekend we have I am installing it.
  13. The shade on my 2019 rattles something fierce. I am going to inquire about it at my next service visit.
  14. I took about two weeks to get accustomed to a rotary shift switch. I have gone from driving shift on the column, to floor shift, to automatic floor shift to this rotary switch. I did not like it at first and I still have mixed feelings about it.
  15. What is this about ? I get a boost from the time I press on the accelerator... This is not a GT by any means, and it is AWD and it is locked in AWD from a dead start. Pete...
  16. dajo2012, I am at almost 14,000. When the temps are below 20F, I do not get any of what you are experiencing. I always have to back out of my driveway, and then shift to drive. I give my Edge about a 10 minute warm up prior to getting in, when I have the time. Other days, I start it up and drive. A $50,000+ vehicle should not have shifting issues, but new products always have some kinks to work out. I have had the TSB Update applied and most of my concerns have been answered. I suggest you leave your vehicle with the Service Manager and have them drive it for an extended period of time, if that is available to you, and they have a comp vehicle for you to drive in the meantime. Otherwise you may need to have a Ford Field Rep intervene to get anything done that satisfies you. Pete...
  17. What you are describing is exactly the problem I was having, but I could reproduce it at a much lower RPM. I took my car out with the technician sitting next to me and he saw, heard and felt the shift. Third would release and fourth was very, very slow to engage. It did it worse when it was cold. As it warmed up it was not as bad. After the flash, they told me to drive it for a few days. They reset the KAM (keep alive memory) in the PCM along with the flash. The owners manual says it takes at least 12 miles for the transmission to relearn to shift. The only issue I have now, is if you let the ST coast on level ground, at 5-7 mph, it will shift up and slightly accelerate. With as many software updates as you have had, I would be asking for a replacement transmission. It is very clear that software is not your problem. Pete...
  18. The same thing was happening with my ST and the TSB Update corrected the problem and I have not had any issues for the last 3,000 miles. I have 12,600 miles on my ST now.
  19. My Edge ST, DOB 12/18/2018, had the same symptoms. It has been corrected by the TSB. Most of these issues are going to be software fixes since our vehicles have mechanical parts with software controlled electrical counterparts. Anything that effects the electrical parts performing in harmony with the mechanical parts is going to cause problems that FEEL just like it is a mechanical problem. I have overt 12,500 miles on my ST now and I am pretty confident that with the amount of maintenance that I give my vehicles, this Edge ST is going to last a very long time. Pete...
  20. Guys, you need to tell your Service Managers that to properly diagnose ANYTHING on these vehicles, ALL of the software needs to be up to date... PERIOD. It don't matter if you are having symptoms or not. Some people drive their cars so carefully that they may never have a problem, but that still does not mean that they should not have the update applied. The update is a warrantied repair, paid for by Ford. It needs to be done, just ask for it. They don't need to wait for anything. The Firmware is available online. They connect their terminal to your car, update the PCM and test drive the vehicle. It takes about 30 minutes.
  21. I had the TSB applied to my 2019 Edge ST and the 3-4 gear upshifting problems have been solved. There is still a hard upshift when traveling at about 6 mph and coasting. The tranny will shift so hard and the Edge will accelerate, so that I have to apply the brakes. Pete...
  22. Hello All, If there is a TSB on our vehicles, you should not have to have a problem to have it applied. Just talk to the Service Manager and ask for it. I get all programming and TSBs done on all of my vehicles without any issues. It doesn't matter if it is under warranty or not. I like to keep everything up to date. I ask every three months if there has been any updates.
