  1. IIRC, the SYNC module is located at the base if the center console, underneath the the plastic trim where the rear AC vents are. If you remove that part of the trim, you should be able to find it
  2. hunter, how do you like the Metra Axxess? Does it respond well? I used the PAC SWIPS in my install a while back, and it's functionality is certainly lacking. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Was it easy to program?
  3. Do you really have nothing better to do? Your one vehicle doesn't represent every vehicle out there. Take up your issues with your dealer, and let us enjoy our forum without your constant complaining.
  4. No, I didn't have the capacitor. Luckily I didn't need it
  5. From what I remember, the roof isn't structurally sound to hold the extra weight with the vista roof. If you go aftermarket though, the weight is put more onto the sides/pillars
  6. I just followed the diagram on retro-solutions.com (single beam kit w/optional harness). At first, I wasn't getting a good ground, so I spliced in a longer wire so that it would reach the engine block ground (just in front of the firewall). Everything works perfectly now! Edit: I don't have DRLs activated, in case that makes a difference
  7. I just recently started experiencing the "flutter" you mentioned, and every now and then the passenger side bulb wouldn't fire. I did not have the included harness wired in, so that was the first thing I tried. That solved all my problems. Just hooked up the relay harness (with an extention wire to the ground so it would reach the block grounds) and everything works great now! No capacitor, no time delay... Just the included harness.
  8. I hardwired mine to the overhead map lights... Worked like a charm. I wouldn't be able to tell you which wire is the correct wire, though.
  9. RetroSolutions are great, and inexpensive, and they have an Edge specific wiring harness that comes with the kit.... Did I mention the forum member discount? There are many threads on here about HIDs, check them out
  10. You can remove the shifter cover just as easily as the center stack... Open up the center console and pull up on the area where the shifter cover meets the console (and where the console lid snaps closed). The whole thing pops up just like the center stack pops off
  11. Not only is it possible to swap out headunits, but it is possible to retain all sync functionality too. Of course, there is extra hardware you will have to purchase, but if your goal is to go oem and retain sync, it is possible. It would probably be easier and less expensive to go aftermarket, though. Many headunits offer all the same funtionality of sync, and some do a better job too.
  12. I installed a 4100 last year in my '08 without SYNC, and just used a basic Metra harness. I don't know if the wiring would be different because of SYNC, but I would get the basic one first and try it out. If it doesn't work, go with the other. Check out my install thread here
  13. If you want a roof rack with your vista, you're going to have to go aftermarket. The factory ones won't work
