Does the IPAD actually charge of a standard USB port? Although the Red requires +5vdc and Black is common, I thought that the IPAD required 2.0 & 2.75 on the D+ & D- pins to initiate charging?
All the iPods I have (2 Classics, 5 Nanos and a Touch) charge OK on the USB sockets. I've not tried an iPad though. That might be different.

I have two iPods permanently plugged into each of the USBs on my 2018 Edge and have never had an issue with the battery draining. I've left the car for more than three weeks sometimes and the car has always started, no problem.
As far as I'm aware the USB power shuts off about 10 minutes after the ignition.

Welcome to the Forum.
I'd like to see a pic of the car with its new wheels once fitted.
-
That must've happened to at least half of all the Fords I've had, some within three years of being new.
Thankfully though my Edge is showing no signs yet, despite it being five years old.

Great in theory but not in practice.
It never works when I want it to, and only works when I don't!

Welcome Chris.
Where are you and what Edge do you have?

I would just copy the music to a thumb drive and use that. I didn't know MP3 players were still a thing. Smart phones pretty much rendered them obsolete.
They aren't obsolete for those of us who don't want our music interrupted by texts, notifications and phone calls all the time and want to listen to music that isn't available on Spotify.
I usually keep about eight iPods in my Edge - seven Nanos and a Touch. The Nanos play perfectly, the Touch can be a bit buggy sometimes but unfortunately Sync 3 can't cope with any of my iPod Classics, even those with an SSD conversion.

Kuga (Escape) sells A LOT more
Way more sales.
There are 266,423 Kugas (Escapes) on UK roads compared to just 7,908 Edges. That's more than 30 times as many!

Long time no see, but we finally did get back into an Edge here in the UK; 2017 Sport 2.0 diesel 210bhp - purchased March ‘22.
Still reasonably rare here and would like a red facelift ST Line one day, but glad to be back
Car looks great in white. There's not really much difference between the Sport and the ST-Line.

More than happy with my Edge thanks. A larger and much better looking car than that.

Hi Michael.
Welcome to the forum.
Where in Germany are you?
Even though its not an Edge we'd sure like to see a pic of your Explorer. I wasn't aware it was available in Germany.

Welcome to the forum Steve.
Hope you enjoy.

I'm not familiar with this system, but have you tried the settings in the navigation menu? Seen where a similar question was posted in a different forum and the responder indicated that the speed was determined by the car using the GPS (yea, I wondered about that as well) and the warning was controlled in the navigation menu. The OP was also dissatisfied with the quietness on the alarm.
Personally I get it from my radar detector and find it annoying. After all, the reason I bought a radar detector in the first place was to ....... (think I'll just shut up now).
Thank you. I've tried every single menu on the car, including the Navigation one, but to no avail. I was hoping someone might know if it could be changed using Forscan.

Have you tried to adjust the volume with the audio volume knob while the chime is going off?
The only way I found to adjust the navigation voice prompts is while the voice is active.
So, um ya, I am not advocating that you go over speed limit and try adjusting the volume with the audio knob, but there it is. ?
I don't think we have that speed limit alert in the States.
Thanks, yes I've tried that but it doesn't work. The chime just doesn't last for long enough to coordinate increasing the volume at the same time.
-
Does anyone know if it is possible to increase the volume of the chime that accompanies the flashing speed limit sign when drifting over the speed limit?
I've found the setting to adjust the tolerance of the warning but not the volume of the chime, which is barely audible.
Can it be done using ForScan?

Welcome to the forum Jason. Hope you find it interesting and useful.
If you have some photos of your Edge we'd love to see them.

Brings back memories of the late 70's for me. My brother and I owned RD 350's as well as 400's. We could wheelie them for blocks. My brother also road raced them at the local level. Great machines! Had the opportunity to see Miguel Duhamel race one at our track before he made it big in AMA Superbike. He smoked the local competition that weekend.
Yes. As you can probably tell from my profile I love 1970s Japanese strokers. I can't believe I've now had that RD for 30 years! I bought it from my best mate's girlfriend at the time a year before my eldest son was born. Where does time go??

Seeing lildisco's pics reminded me I used my Edge to tow a trailer for the first time a couple of weeks back.

Hey. So, With the current price of all cars, I went on to an auction site and bid on a few vehicles on line. (Rona protocol) It was a state auction, And while everyone else was looking at the highway patrol Explorers,, I noticed This Ford Edge. Long story short, what I ended up buying was an undercover police car. Not an unmarked police car. undercover.. Antennas stuffed in the doors, microphones in the headliner, lights behind the grill, a second wiring harness, kevlar seat back, evidence locker in back, etc. Basically, they removed the radios and sold it. Replaced the alternator, removed all the police accessories, (I can't be trusted with things like that, and I didn't want it to short out in the middle of nowhere.) This thing seems pretty fast to me, so I'm wondering if there's any way to find out if its tuned.
It also doesn't exist on Carfax or any parts, repair, or service Database on the planet. The ford owners site treats the vin like its some secret, and I know where it was bought and serviced. (friendly ford las vegas)
Thanks!
Sounds great. Do you have any pics to share with us?

I just brought my edge into Ford dealer and they won't warranty the cracked sunroof. Wants $1900 to fix. I only have 26,000 miles on my car and extended warranty. Car stays in garage. It was out during cold weather when family was in and that's when it cracked.
It's stress cracking - a common problem with the Edge's original, laminated glass sunroof.
As a result the original laminated glass is no longer available and has been replaced by toughened (tempered) glass.
It's worth checking if this is covered under your motor insurance. When this happened to my Edge last year I was able to get the glass replaced under my policy with only a nominal excess to pay.

Yep. I had the tailgate come down on my head once because the cat walked under the car!
It seems a good feature in theory, but in my experience it rarely works when you want it to, and often works when you don't.
