That looks super, I was looking at that colour of 1 In the Uk. Import was too expensive on it unfortunately.  That would've been my 1st choice! Looking at getting a tow bar fitted to mine too, not sure how well my bike rack will sit, tow bar mounted is a bit more stable.

Thanks. I would have preferred one in Electric Spice (below) but they'd discontinued it in the model years I was looking for. Canyon Ridge was my second choice but it's a great colour and really makes the car stand out in a crowd.

Yours doesn't have the tow-bar attachment fitted as standard then, just needing to add the removable hitch?

  2. Nice looking Edge... they look good all in black don't they?

They are very rare over here too. I see another one about once a month at most!

You can see some pics of my one here.

Are the Edges in Europe All Wheel Drive or Front Wheel Drive or can you get either? I posted some pics of an Edge in a BCN dealer years ago:

    Hi Ben.

All the Euro Edges are AWD only.

There's only one engine option available too, and that's the 2 litre duel turbo diesel - 210 HP for the automatic and 180HP for the six-speed manual.

    Thanks for the tag @onyxbfly

I plugged it, as I have every car that I have owned with a rear wiper. I didn’t want to play with buying the wrong plug so I went DIY with some plexiglass. Removed wiper, glued and sealed a square piece of glass with some sealant on the inside. Cut another piece the size of hole. Filled it again and then stuck a quarter in it for fun. Then put a piece of vinyl over that.

Looks like you did a really neat job there. It certainly changes the rear appearance and looks a lot more tidy.

However the impracticalities of not having a rear wiper far outweigh that in my opinion - it's essential here nearly the whole year through.

  5. I guess it depends on your model, but you can select any of these languages on my touchscreen:

English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Turkish or Russian.

I don't use it, have no need for it and think the car would look much better without it.  I am talking about removing it and plugging the hole in the glass.  Did it on the Focus ST, never missed it.

Gosh - where do you live?

Somewhere it hardly ever rains and the roads don't get wet?

  7. Why would you want to delete your rear wiper? I need mine almost every day, especially at this time of year.

And what exactly do you mean by delete in this case..... remove it completely and plug the hole in the rear glass...or just disable the switching?

I have learned that they are always scanning, so even if you happen to just pass a suitable spot before pressing the button, the system will still indicate that it found this spot as soon as you press the button and will park you in it. So you don't have to always press the button to start searching for a spot.

Thanks that's handy to know Omar. It's just finding the button down there, pressing it the requisite number of times and putting the indicator on all the while there's some impatient person driving far too close up behind you makes it all rather difficult sometimes.

That, and the fact parking spaces in UK car parks are now all too small for our 21st century cars!

  9. Interesting.

I've had my Edge now for nearly a year, so have had opportunity to try out most of its gadgetry.

    • Rain sensing wipers : Use, but often need to override if not responding quick enough.
    • Auto high beam : This doesn't work well enough to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic, so is switched off.
    • Adaptive cruise control : Very useful if you have an endorsed driving licence and are driving on motorways with average speed control cameras.
    • Lane Assist : Always on. I find the little nudge quite useful.
    • Active Park Assist : Not worth using. Takes far too long to set up and find a space large enough. Eyes work better.
    • Adaptive headlights : Always on. It works better than it did on my old Mondeo.
    • Heated/cooled seats : Love them. Will often use the heated seats for short journeys in lieu of cranking the heating up.
    • Autopilot advanced driver-assistance system : I think the warning lights for when you are driving too close are really useful. The pre-collision alert seems a bit over sensitive though. It seems to go off when cars are still a long way away!
    • Paddle shifters : What's the point? If I wanted a manual Edge I would have bought one!
    • Sync : I don't see how you can't use this? Mind you, I don't think Sync 3 is as good as Sync 1 & 2, especially when it comes to playing any of my iPods.
    • Sirius : I have no idea. What is it?
    • Auto Headlights : I always have the headlamps on auto. They seem to work really well.
    • AdvanceTrac : Always on. I'm not aware of any situation where it would need to be turned off.
    • Front wide-view camera : Not fitted.
    • Rear view camera : Useful, but still rely more on the rear-view mirrors.
    • Hands free tailgate : I will only use this if I really don't have either hand available. Sometimes you can be waving your leg about all over the place before the sensor activates!
    • 10-way power seats : The memory function is useful but sometimes too easy to accidently over-write the stored settings with the current setting.
    • Traffic sign recognition : A useful feature, helps save your licence.
    • 240v socket outlet in centre console : Of limited use. Only time I have used it was for my laptop mains plug when I wanted to use Forscan. Otherwise it always has a 5v USB converter plugged in for rear passengers' phones etc.
    • Panoramic roof : Blind is usually always open to let lots of light in. On hot days I will often open up the glass roof rather than using the air-con.
    • Parking sensors : Useful, but I wish they could be adjusted so that they only sound continuously at a much smaller distance. They aren't that helpful if they are already going off continuously with more than 6 inches to spare when driving the car through small gaps or passing cars on narrow lanes.
    • Heated front windscreen : Doesn't stay on long enough. I'm constantly turning it back on again!

11 if I remember, starting from way back:

    1951 Ford 2 door

1952 Meteor into which I installed a 1957 Desoto 341 Cu Inch Hemi and Torqueflite automatic Transmission

    1981 Mercury Capri RS

    1986 Mercury Sable

    1991 Mercury Sable

    1993 Thunderbird (V6)

1997 Thunderbird - swapped in a 2001 Mustang engine, supercharged it, beefed up the automatic transmission - killer stereo - went drag racing.

2005 Mustang GT - installed Whipple Supercharger, modified the transmision, high stall torque converter, 3:55 gears, Watts Link.  Won a few drag races and trophies

2012 Mustang GT -  Edelbrock supercharger - 690 HP Dynoed - motor blew replace engine and sold supercharger traded for

    2018 Taurus LTD

    2021 Edge SEL

Cool. Do you have any photos of these you could share with us?

I'd love to see what those 50s cars looked like.

The shipment cost was around $1,000. The issue is the burocracy in Spain, a lot of paperwork, several fees... But it is worth since the car was almost new.

Cool. That's not that much really considering the overall cost of the car. And you get quite a unique vehicle - big powerful engine and in left hand drive too!

Are there any mods you need to make to make it legal for Spanish roads....like fitting rear fog lamps?

"Hi, I need to register my car in Spain, my country."

Have you shipped your Edge from North America to Spain? That's interesting. I guess it wasn't too expensive then?

The model you have, the SEL and it's engine are not available on any of the European Edges over here- they are all diesels.

It'll be interesting to see how you get on and whether you have any problems getting spares and having the car serviced.
