  1. Had remote start on our first EDGE and loved it. I would only recommend using OEM Ford Remote Start as using aftermarket remotes starts/installations can be scary!! I had my cousin who is a Ford Certified Mechanic install it. Our 08 Limited didnt have it but i am in the process of purchasing another Ford remote start and having my cousin install it again. He did tell me that if you have the auto climate option you can have the remote automatically start the ac/heater whenever needed. I will post once its installed and let everyone know if this is true. J
  2. Hello, I am interested in the tires/rims if you still have them. I live in Illinois 61537 if you could give me the price you want maybe we can work out a deal. PM me with your info. Thanks, Jeremy
  3. I have owned two Edges: One was an 07 SEL(Alloy) and our current ride is an 08 EDGE Limited(White Tri-Coat). The 07 had the 17 inch stock wheels and our 08 has the 20s. I honestly feel that the 08 with the 20s has a far superior ride to it and it is alot quieter driving down the road than the 07. I know that most people feel the 20s should have a worse ride than the 17s or 18s but i will have to disagree on the basis of having owned both! I purchased the Limited over another 08 SEL due to the fact that i was given a great deal that i couldnt pass up on. I was able to walk out the door for the same price as a less option SEL and that was the main deciding factor, and my wife loved the Limited. I am very, very pleased with my decision. The White Tri Coat is awesome regarding dirt and in my opinion looks incredibly sharp, even when dirty!! Regarding the price difference between 20 inch tires and 17s or 18s, i shopped those prices before i purchased our 08 and the dealer i get tires from could get me 20s for the same price or even cheaper than the stock 17 or 18s. This may not be true for others in the u.s. or even canada, but i wouldnt let price alone determine what you like. The bottom line is to GET WHAT YOU WANT!!! You will be the one driving it for the next several years and you have to be happy with what you get!! No matter if you go for the SEL or the Limited, you will be getting one of the best crossovers on the road today. Neither one will dissapoint you!!! :happy feet:
  4. Hello, We have the White Tri Coat and love it. It looks great clean or dirty!! Its by far one of the most beautiful colors for an edge and it really grabs attention wherever you drive. One other thing about is it that you will pay more for the color but when trade off time comes you will recoup some of it back by the color you have chosen. I know for a fact that other colors will actually put you in the negative when you trade (black, reds, etc.) but this White Tri Coat will stay on the plus side!!! Its a very desirable color and you cant go wrong with it.
  5. I have seen it and its the exact same one you get from Ford. If you look on the website at the top of the page it states that this item is a Genuine Ford Accessories.
  6. Hello, I had 17's on our first Edge and currently have the 20's on our second Edge. I actually think the 20's ride nicer than the 17's ever did. Thats just my opinion but i would have no problem or hesitation going to the 20's from the 18's.
  7. Hello all, We just picked up our new 08 Edge Limited. This is our replacement since they totalled our last edge(07 SEL) when a young girl rearended my wife and kids. All i can say is WOW!! The Limited is just simply amazing. The DVD NAV, Sync, leather, etc, etc, etc. are just downright SIIIIICK!!! Needless to say, my wife is very very happy with her new EDGE. Ford has a true winner in the EDGE and i hope they keep up the good work.
  8. I will post pictures as soon as my lawyer says its ok. The girls insurance totaled our EDGE so we are in the process of battling with them over replacement costs!! Once i know its safe i will definately post the pics. All i can say is that it did some major structural damage to the unibody and that the cargo area floor was folded in pretty badly. All i all though, it protected my family the way it was designed too and i am grateful to FORD for their vehicle safety! I appreciate everyones input and am glad to hear from others that they too were pleased with the safety quality after they were in accidents.
  9. Got an estimate today for the damage....8,000-10,000 plus to fix it and it may be more once they cut into it. They said is will be very fixable but it just doesnt look like it right now. In reality they say it looks far worse than it really is but anytime your talking that kind of money to fix it i says its bad. Thanks to all who have shared their stories. Not sure why so many rearendings, but i will say the girl was probably in her early twenties and she obviusly was not paying attention to driving. I am just glad my wife was driving her Edge and not our older car and everyone is safe and sound. We are gonna miss the Edge while they fix it but hopefully in a couple weeks we will have it back.
  10. Its a sad day in our household. My wife and kids were rearended yesterday. She and the kids are fine but the poor Edge looks very sad now. The Edge did a awesome job of protecting my family and took the brunt of a young girl driving a 09 Jeep Grand Cherokee who never even hit the brakes. We approximate she was driving around 35mph plus when she hit my wife and kids who were stopped waiting for a car ahead of them to turn left. I find out tomm how bad the damage will be!!! The rear hatch is definately shot and the spare tire compartment is buckled pretty badly. I dont think it messed up the drive line but i am by no means an expert on that kinda stuff. I do know it doesnt take much anymore to consider them total losses! We have only had the Edge for a little over a month and my wife loved it. Now shes gonna have to wait awhile to get it back unless they scrap it and get us a new one. We are very glad we purchased out Edge and safety was one of the many reasons we chose it. I will post when i found out the damage.
  11. I do have the 17" rims, sorry about that. I noticed after i posted that you werent looking for 17's. I really like the Coopers that we have on our Edge now and they handle far better than the Hankooks that were OEM. Like you said for the price you cant go round, besides, which companies arent in financial trouble these days!!!!
  12. Hello, I just had to replace the tires on my wifes 07 Edge SEL AWD. The junk tires that came stock were Hanpukes(Hankook) and only had 25000 miles on them. They still had alot of tred left but the sidewall on one of the tires blew out going down the road. I have since found out that this is a common problem with these tires. The tire place that i had new tires put on had three Hankook tires in our size with blown out sidewalls and they came from three different style vehicles(very scary). I wouldnt recommend Hankook to anyone due to my experience with them. They might be good tires but i will never trust them again. I chose to replace them with Cooper Discoverer HTs and i couldnt be happier. The price was way, way, way cheaper than what the BIG tires companies want(Michelin,GY,Bridgestone, ETC) and these tires are just as good. These tires ride excellent and have great traction. I am very impressed with the Cooper tires and i would highly recommend giving them a chance for your vehicle. Good luck with whatever tire you do choose.
  13. Can you tell me if these will fit on a 07 Edge SEL AWD. Also, do you have to drill holes to mount them or are they direct attach to existing holes? Is everything included to mount them? Very interested! Thanks, Jeremy
  14. Hello, When the sites up it seems to be faster, but just last night i was getting the dreaded suspeneded line!!! Hopefully it works it self out.
  15. 07 Edge SEL AWD 23000 miles Averages 20-21 city and highway together. Highest was 24 and lowest 17.5! Not bad for a vehicle of this size. I will give up some mpgs to know that my wife is safe on her drive to work!!!!!
  16. I just had my cousin (who is a Ford Technician) install a genuine Ford remote start. I purchased the Ford kit with the extra wiring harness which you will need regardless of the model of your Edge(SE,SEL,Limited). The extra wiring harness plugs directly into your stock harnesses. I was able to purchase the kit for around $177.oo which i am told is extremely cheap for genuine Ford remote starts. My cousin said the extra harnesses cut out several wires that would otherwise have to be cut. He had the remote start installed in under 2 hours start to finish. We could have had it installed sooner than that but he solders and covers the wires to give thema professional and moisture resistant look.So to answer your question about the remote start: Whichever Ford remote starter kit you get(one button fob versus four button fob with doors, etc.) you will have to also purchase the wiring harness. The harness is included with the one button kit but not the four button kit. I do not know about the Sirius radio harness since i have not and will not be using that feature!! I hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions. :shades:
