  1. This came in today. Kind of a neat kit! It also has the capability to use and control HD radio with your factory head unit but I didn't really want tha so I didn't order the extra box. Who wants constant commercials in HD anyway? Anyway, here are some pics. The Sirius SCC1 tuner box, the PXAMG Gateway box, the radio harness plug made up really nice with the extra plug in the middle of the harness for the Gateway box to plug into. From there it also has the Ipod cable which allows you to control the Ipod through the factory radio and charge it along with the Sirius. This cable is 10' long or so and leaves plenty of room to route and hide the cable. The Sirius antenna with 21' cable so it too can be routed where ever and hidden nicely. I'll probably put the antenna on the center of the roof right in front of the rear roof/window spoiler. Not exactly factory but it will be neat, hard to notice, and secure there. The other cable is not going to be used or installed in my application but it's for if you would want to use another type of audio device that had RCA cables or a 1/8" headphone plug. I just wanted the Ipod and Sirius capability. The dog seemed to like smelling it constantly for some reason while I was trying to take pics. I'll try to get it installed later this week and I'll tell you all how it works and try to remember to take pics as I go. Looks really easy to put in. Just have to secure those two small boxes behind the dash, hide a cable, and run and hide the satellite antenna wire. Wish me luck!
  2. I should get mine around the first week of the new year. Not sure if it makes any difference but I had ordered the speaker baffles (rubber/foam things) when I originally ordered the 6x8s. I'll throw them in with the front speakers too. Fortunately I have a big garage attached to the house that is all insulated and easy to heat, at least to a tolerable level to do some projects when I get winter "cabin fever". Not a big fan of the four seasons anymore especially seeing both our vehicles covered in salt and dripping black/wet road leftovers in the garage.
  3. I aint paying that. I'll just keep an eye out for them at the local salvage yard. They always have tons of late model wrecks there.
  4. Nice plate. The wife got 1BXR3IG as the plate on ours. Congrats on the rescue and foster dogs, I applaud you for doing so!
  5. Nice! Our girl is 8 and starting to look a little grey but still has the maximum amount of boxer attitude & playfulness.
  6. Never thought of looking up "crate" thanks! And yes, they are very similar in behavior and attitude of full sized greyhounds. Very loving, sleep alot, and always looking for somewhere warm. BTW, I liked your signature so I borrowed some of it for mine...haha. Heres a pic of one of ours with a full-sized greyhound at the dog park so you can see the size difference but similar build:
  7. Could someone with the cargo management option take a pic or two of the parts that are included in this option? Thanks!
  8. I bought a set of four of these to put in our MKX not realizing that the front speakers have the crossover for the factory tweeters built into the factory 6x8s so I have to go with components in the front. These are nice speakers, better than the basic Pioneer 6x8s. They are 2-way, 260W max. I put the other pair in the rear doors and they sound very good even with our factory head unit. Here is a link to them: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...Series/TS-D802P They are brand new in a never opened box. They will fit the front or rear doors of your Edge (without factory tweeters), and rear doors of an MKX along with many other Ford/Mazda applications. I gave $92.99 for them (best price I could find online) so I will ask an even $100 including shipping. This is a significantly lower price than what Crutchfield or many other retailers are asking for them so the hard work of tracking down lower prices is done for you. I would prefer Paypal. Remember that this is for only ONE pair, not a set of four. You would need a speaker harness if you don't want to cut your factory speaker harness off. I used a Metra 72-5600. Using this speaker harness also eliminates trying to figure out which wire color is negative and positive. It only fits one way. Thanks! *BTW, Crutchfield says these will not fit in the rear doors. I and many others on this site have similar speakers in the rear doors and they fit fine. Windows roll down all the way and there are no clearance problems.
  9. I noticed there weren't any topics on here to show any pet/copilots that ride with you. Our dogs are limited to a couple soft crates in the rear cargo area when they go with us in the MKX but they are always up for a ride and going places. The car and leather is too nice to let them claw it up running loose in the car. We have 1 Boxer (8 yrs old) and 3 Italian Greyhounds (5 yrs, 3 yrs, and 1 yr old). Started off with one of each but the other two IGs sorta found their way into our home. Oh well, they are usually together in a pile sleeping together and at only 12-15 pounds a piece they only weigh about 1/2 as much as the Boxer. The IGs are very fun dogs and not too many people seem to know about the breed. We always get asked if they are either baby or mini greyhounds and we have to do lots of explaining! Heres some pics: Their favorite thing to do is play rocket dog at the dog park. We take them as much as we can, weather permitting. Keeps us in shape too:
  10. I usually use one of our carpet shampoo machines. Our big one (Hoover SteamVac) has the hand/furniture attachment but the small one (SpotBot) also has one and is easier to drag around. I used to be able to find unscented carpet shampoo but haven't bought any in awhile so I'm not sure if it's available. Anyway, after the shampooing I take a bucket with hot water and a rag and go over the entire area to "blend in" and/or soak up any left over damp areas from the cleaning which can cause the spotting you mentioned. Just keep wringing it out in the bucket of clean water as you go. When we first got our MKX the carpets weren't exactly in the cleanest of condition. People hauled kids and I found quite an assortment of food, tiny toys, melted/sticky wrappers, and all kinds of junk under the seats. I ended up just completely removing the rear seat and spent a whole day on the carpets. Came out better than new but was alot of work. In case you are wondering why we have 2 machines we have raised 3 Italian Greyhounds and a Boxer since pups and we both are very picky about a clean and nice smelling home so we spared no expense...lol.
  11. You must have read my mind, I was just getting ready to ask about that! Where exactly inside the door do you prefer to mount them? Obviously out of the way of the window track and somewhere where it wont rattle.
  12. Might simply be clogged. Get a very thin peice of wire (like a peice from a grill brush) and try to clear out the nozzle on the hood before you go any further.
  13. I figured it out enough to get in there and realize there is no existing harness. Not a very easy to remove panel for sure.
  14. I ended up ordering a set of Infinity Kappa 680.9cs 6x8 component setup for the front. We'll see how that turns out. I am aware that the "disciminating" car audio pros will say that the round 5.25 or 6.5 woofer is better but it's not that big of an issue to me and the 6x8 woofer will bolt right in without an adapter. I like many others on here just want some more clarity and sound quality. I did notice that the factory 5x7/6x8 speakers look exactly the same as all the Ford vehicles I have owned all the way back to my first car (an '88 Escort)...lol! I'll try to do a little write up/photo session of the install once I get them.
  15. I decided to go ahead and order this. When I get it, I'll try to do a write-up and install (pictures) on it in case anyone is interested.
  16. We recently had a similar issue and the dealer replaced the drivers side rear wheel bearing under warranty.
  17. Are there any hidden fasteners on this panel or is it a simple grab and yank? In the rear cargo area, passenger side, where the subwoofer would be if our vehicle was so equipped. Just out of curiosity I wanted to see if the factroy subwoofer harness is in there. Thanks!!
  18. Thanks. I have replaced the rear door speakers with Pioneer Premier TS-D802P 6x8s (pretty decent speakers!) but was holding off on the fronts until I figured out what I needed to do. Looks like I'll go the component route on the front. Now, wondering how hard it is to remove the stock tweeters and secure the aftermarkets in the same area. If I remember correctly from when I had the front door panel off they are clipped in somehow but I may be wrong.
  19. Our '07 MKX has the seperate door mounted tweeters. Is there an additional harness availible that will allow me to replace the front door speakers and keep the factory tweeters operational? There are two plugs on the factory 6x8 speaker. One from the radio and one from the speaker to the tweeter. I'm sure it could be done with some creativity but it would be nice if there were a simple way.
  20. I don't have much a choice as to not love my roof rails as our MKX is not equipped with the vista-roof but rather the rear seat DVD/entertainment system. I do like the "proportions" that the roof rails give our MKX as ones without them look flat/chopped top for lack of a better word(s). It is not equipped with the cross rails yet but if I run across a used set for a good price I would buy them. Vista roof or not, I am happy either way. We got WAY too good of a deal on this particular MKX to go looking for an Edge or an MKX equipped with the vista roof.
  21. Found a local place to recycle it so.... Since the MKX is an '07 and it is a simple job it's time to do a coolant change/flush. Way under mileage I know (33,000) but I prefer to change it out every couple years or so and don't want to pay the dealer to do it and be without our vehicle for 3 days for a simple job (see my wheel bearing thread...grrr). To me it's one of those things that are like 100,000 mile spark plug changes...lifetime coolant? Yeah, right! My questions are: 1: What is the cheapest place to get the real Ford Motorcraft Orange Coolant? Obviously not the dealer. Online retailers would be fine but I would think there would be a hazardous materials shipping premium. Wonder if Napa or somebody like that could get it for me? I want to stick with the Motorcraft orange coolant, not the "works with any color" universal antifreeze from the parts store. 2: Does anyone suggest using a flush (i.e. Prestone) or just flush it with clean water? We have a 50 gallon plastic barrel in a garage closet of reverse osmosis/deionized filtered water running off a filter that we use for our saltwater/reef aquarium so I can easily use that for flushing and filling. Beats buying jugs of distilled water and is even more pure. 3: I don't think they would go for it but I wonder what the "special" additive Ford is adding due to the heater core corrosion issue? I wonder if I could get some of that to throw in with the fresh coolant?
  22. Searched for this on here and only found one or two minor hits. Anyone using this and have any opinions on it? Product: http://www.tss-radio.com/isimple-media-gat...kit-p-6741.html YouTube demonstration:
  23. Can anyone snap a pic for me of the bracket and which orientation the unit is mounted? It would be much appreciated. The reason I am asking is that I was thinking of going the whole hog and putting in a Pioneer Nav unit and all but we decided that we can't really justify the cost. We decided that Sirius was more important than all the rest. I do miss having it. I can get the Sirius tuner and such from a wrecked Edge or MKX at the well-stocked local salvage yard for very little cost. Obviously the wiring and antenna also.
  24. I don't have Sirius in the MKX. I am looking for someone who does so I can get the correct tuner. Thanks for the location though. I wasn't sure exactly where the factory mounted unit would be.
